The fight with January's parents.

" I see that you boys are pretty serious about my daughter. Which one of you is here to claim her then, last I heard Thomas was the one engaged to her?"

He looked between us, sneering as a protective father would.

" You of all people have no right to ask either of us about our intentions towards January.

You sold her to Adam, you don't even have any idea what he did to her do you?" Eivan said, holding his hands at his sides in fists, anger coming off of him in waves.

" I know enough." Calvin conceded.

" Then you know that he gave her an ultimatum to f**k him on Christmas eve two years ago.

And you know that when a scared January couldn't have s*x with him- because YOU let your best friend f**k with her as a small child, failing to protect her even back then.

Adam went straight to her only sister- ugly April and f****d her that very night instead, rejecting January."

Eivan lunged for Calvin, losing all control.

Calvin didn't even try to fight back as Eivan punched him in the face, breaking his nose and continuing the assault the older man, pummeling Calvin's ribs.

I stood back and watched. Calvin deserved to pay for everything he did to January.

It was Andrea, January's mother who ended the fight as she c****d a double barrel shot gun, leveling it at Eivan's head.

" Enough! Get off my husband right the f**k now!" she screamed as her hands shook.

I yanked Eivan back by his collar, pulling him off Calvin.

" She's got a gun coach." I told him, as he lunged for the bloodied man once again.

"I'll kill him!" He yelled, fire coming off of him in an inferno of hate.

I bear hugged him and tackled him down.

" My daughter April was just as hurt by Adam as Jan was." Andea said, in defense of her favorite daughter.

Calvin sat up, holding his cracked ribs. Blood oozing down his face.

" Andy, quiet now!" He said softly.

" These boys are absolutely right. I've failed... my precious girl.

I was full of greed and I sold her out. Now! Leave us be woman.

Put yer gun away. I need to make things right." He surprised everyone with his exclamation.

" Wha? Why? Calvin, these men have it all wrong.

Jan is always the f*****g victim. It's time for her to stop complaining about your old friend.

I mean how bad was it?

Ronald Parsons took good care of us while you were out fishing for months.

Parsons was the one who gave our girls the attention that you never could!

It's time for her to grow up now. I'm so tired of her using this as a weapon against April!" she cried.

I don't hit women, but I did pull my hand back and punch Andrea Holmes right in her f*****g face, knocking her completely out.

She fell back onto the floor hitting her head on the wall.

I rubbed my knuckles as I stared down at the vile woman.

I admit, I lost control hearing her spew venom about my lover.

And I did love her, I had it bad for her. I needed to protect her especially if her own parents refused to do so.

Eivan's mouth was hanging open, seeing January's mother knocked out cold.

"Maybe you better wait in the car Thomas." He worried as he turned towards Calvin.

"Me? Look what you did to her dad." I exclaimed, indignation in my voice.

Eivan nodded. "True. Now Calvin Holmes tell me in the next 30 seconds how you are going to fix this or you are both going for a long trip.

I have the means to exile you both to North Korea, or Siberia if you prefer."

Calvin laughed. "Shee-at, my daughter can pick em. I like you boys.

I'm going to let you in on my little secret, set your minds at ease.

Janny girl ain't with Adam Wilson no more. Nope! I kidnapped her myself and sent her away on her boat. She is long gone." He grinned as blood coated his teeth staining them pink.

" Why the f**k didn't you tell me that before I tried to kill you old man?" Eivan cried, astonished.

" I wanted to keep it my secret. But...seeing how yer both crazy for Janny.

I believe it's a good idea to let you meet up with her on the island. She should be there by tomorrow.

I'll have crazy Dave fly you out there on his boat, The Night Gem.

He owes me. So boys, what's say we pick up Andy there and I'll fix you both a stiff one."

Eivan and I stared at eachother, disbelieving what we just heard.

"Go on, get her into her bed so when she wakes up we'll tell her it was a dream is all." He winked at me.

" Come on coach, I need that drink. Let's go." I smiled at him.

We each took an arm and a leg and put January's mother to bed.

As we sipped the brown liquid that Calvin had poured for us, I asked him about the island.

" What the hell is this s**t?" I coughed as I swallowed the gasoline flavored drink.

" Just the finest Scotch I own. Don't waste it boy. Drink it fast if you need to." He grinned, as he held a cold wet compress to his nose.

" Tell us about the island Calvin." I said as I quickly shot the liquid down my throat.

" Ahhh...burns, so nasty!" I bit out.

Eivan smiled as he drank his like it wasn't effecting him at all.

" Well, that would be Hope Island. It's a family hideaway that I been taken me gals to for two decades.

Just a nice fishing cabin on a tiny island. Not on any maps. I stocked it up real good.

I always like to have a place to run to if my, I mean Jan's boat runs into trouble at sea.

It's like a port for winter storms. I'm sending her and her sister there fer a while."

" Ugly April is with January, oh shit." I smiled, feeling a bit looser now.

" That's got to be bad eye sight on yer part boy. April is gorgeous boy." Calvin said shaking his head.

" We don't call her ugly because her outsides are ugly Cal, and you said January's boat?" Eivan's brows rose.

"Ah, I put it in her name yesterday. It's hers now.

I never did like to see April sidled up to Adam Wilson so soon after January broke things off with him."

" You mean was cruelly rejected by the A hole?" I said, throwing back my third shot.

" I was not privy to all the details, it was April that told her mother and I how badly Adam was hurt when January dumped him in Christmas eve."

We both huffed.

Andrea began to stir. She groggily walked out to the kitchen where we were drinking.

" My head hurts, what happened to me?" She eyed us all wearily.

" You took ill and passed out. Here have a shot of this, it will fix you right up." He held out a glass of the vile brown liquid.

Andrea threw it back and stumbled back to her bed.

" Call me if April calls. I'll be resting a bit." She said.

I growled at her words.

" Should I correct her again?" I said under my breath, rubbing my knuckle. January was who she should be concerned about!

" Naw, we gotta go pack for our trip." Coach said, as he put down my glass for me.

"One last thing Cal, If Adam shows up here, you won't let him bribe you again will you?" Eivan spoke as his eyes narrowed at Calvin.

Calvin frowned as he shook his head. "Never again, swear it on the Eastern May!"
