Athens and I watched as Shaman did his duty. Even I was worried, that she wouldn't rip his arm off and then his head off. The only thing that could be heard was her low growl.
"I need to speak to your human counterpart." Shaman began. "I am Shaman, the caretaker of all werewolves. I must find out why she is allowing you to gain bloodlust."
The she-wolf eyed him and then the rest of us. She paused a long time at Cacodemon before you saw the shimmer of change start. Her human side was small compared to her wolf. Then again the same could be said for my sister. Massive wolf and tiny person. Granted she was at least taller than our mom who also had a huge wolf and was an itty bitty person.
I am getting off-topic, sorry. That happens sometimes. Her human form still had the silver/white color of glittery hair. Her skin is olive in color. I could not make out her face as she was turned slightly in Shaman's direction. Her clothes had bloodstains. They looked tattered, and likely what she had been in a while.
"Tara honey, what happened?" Shaman stepped closer to her wrapping his arms around her like she was his pup.
I glanced at Athens who in turn looked to a stunned Cacodemon. All of us are not sure how Shaman would know her. Shaman glanced at us. "She was Ben's pup from a southern wolf while he was watching your father." He looked at us.
I am pretty sure my jaw had hit the ground and was still bouncing off to nowhere. My Uncle Hawk morphed from Cacodemon with a look of utter surprise.
"Well damn! Does Ben know?" Athens asked back loudly. He wasn't gonna act like he hadn't heard that. He also recovered a helluva lot faster than my uncle and me.
"No," Shaman seemed sad by this. "I was sworn by the goddess herself to remain silent about it." He looked down at her. I could see he had taken a fatherly interest in her well-being. "What happened Tara?" His voice was gentle.
She lifted her head to reveal ice blue eyes with black brows. Her face, held high cheekbones, elegant features, and a cute button nose. She kinda reminded me of Liv Tyler, though her hair was those strands of silver and white glitter. "They bullied me." She plopped her head on his chest like the distressed teenager she was.
"Who?" Shaman asked his voice gentle as he stroked her hair. His face though looked like he could do a killing spree.
"Alpha Hagan and his ranked members. He chained me up, while his wolves got to do bad things. I couldn't stop Annuki from breaking free and killing some of them." I could hear and smell the tears that started the moment they did. I was sure every male here was ready to wipe the floor with that pack.
"Athens take young Hawk and Tara to the palace in Jewel's kingdom. I know she will be safe there. Cacodemon would you like to come with me to another smaller pack house?" There was hellfire in Shaman's eyes but he could not deal any death to a wolf. Part of his curse.
"Of course, I always enjoy a lesson in teaching manners to those in need." My uncle ground out. His rage rippling off him in waves.
"After I drop these two off would you like me to drop in and help with lessons?" Athens chirped.
"Of course," A wicked grin played across Shaman's face. "The more the merrier."
Athens dragged me along as we came to stand just in front of both Shaman and Tara. "Tara, this is young Hawk. He is the Beta to the Queen at the southern wolf kingdom. They have many dragon borne like you there. I know Hawk and his sister the Queen will treat you well. I will be along to check on you later this evening." He bent down placing a fatherly kiss on her forehead.
"Ok Shaman," Tara said as she dropped her gaze to me. Then to Athens who giggled and waved like only he can do. "You are a beta?" She sniffed the air near me. "You smell like an alpha." Her words are tense.
"He is an alpha, but chose the beta position to protect his sister." Shaman smiled. It was a genuine one. He seemed as proud as others who knew what I had done.
"Why?" Tara looked back at Shaman with a weird scrunched-up nose look of confusion.
"His sister was destined to be queen. He knew it and thought it best to make sure she got there and stayed safe. The last Queen of that pack was killed within three years of taking the throne." Shaman straightened to his full height. "You will be safe there." He gave her a quick squeeze of her hand before he stepped back to look at my uncle.
Tara straightened her back. Took a step toward Athens and me. "Shall we?"
"Of course Buttercup." giggled Athens as he poofed us straight to the main throne room.
"Athens? Hawk?" I heard my sister say.
"Hello, and goodbye," Athens laughed as only he could when great violence was afoot before he disappeared from the room.
"Hawk? This is not you working in your office, and who is this?" I looked up to see my sister descending the stairs to her throne. Her barn clothes were still on which meant something had happened while I was with the rest.
"Sis, this is Tara." I introduce. Shaman says this is Ben's daughter he knows nothing about. I added in mind link.
"Tara it is nice to meet you." My sister turned her attention to the teenager next to me. Her smile was warm and her hand outstretched in greeting. "I am Isabella Jewel Munoz. I am the Queen here." Her serious face broke into a grin, "that's my big bro." She chuckled.
"Nice to meet you," Tara spoke softly as I watched her eye the room and the people in it. Her gaze stopped at Tau who was also walking down the stairs to stand behind Jewel. Tara's gaze stayed glued to Tau.
"This is my mate Tau." Jewel looked between Tara and Tau's gaze.
Should I be worried? Jewel glanced at me then back to the two.
I don't think so. I looked between them too.
"What are you?" Tara finally blurted to Tau.
There was a long silence before Tau answered. "I am a griffin." Tau took Jewel's hand in his pulling it to his lips and kissing it. Jewel smiled at him. Then her eyes went back to Tara.
"I see," Tara gave me some side-eye. "I thought Shaman said I would be safe here." She sighed dramatically as only a teenager could do.
