I headed to the office. I didn't want to But, I needed to get things done. I opened the door to my office, the light streaming in from the windows behind my chair cased the stack of papers on my desk to make a huge shadow towards me. Taking a deep breath I stepped through the threshold of the door and into the office. I looked around. Pictures, books, and even my old telescope graced the walls. I was hoping to be an astronaut when I was young as space was my thing. As luck would have it I was turned in a whole new direction. Becoming a werewolf and finding out magic existed was a huge perk to me. The bonus was all the ancients I ended up being connected to.
The visions I would get sucked. The insecurities from before I had Tys a strong part in my mind that even now I battle against at times. I settle into the chair behind my desk. Letting out all the air in my lungs as the giant stack of papers stares back at me like an evil gnome.
The phone rings. "Hello," I answer knowing it was the wrong greeting for the office but just went with it.
"I need to speak with the queen's Beta!" a flustered man on the other end squeaked.
"You are speaking with him." I huffed irritated with how this was going and knowing it was my fault. I hate the office.
"I just ran into the craziest she-wolf ever!" he shouted. "She tried to eat me!" he squealed with a whine to boot.
"Where are you and who is this she-wolf?" I asked.
"I am in the states. I was letting my wolf out in a patch of wilderness. I didn't know she claimed it as hers. She side-swiped me, had me pinned before she leaped over me to attack a bunch of rogues that were after her." The man's voice dripped with fear. "I didn't wait around to see what happened with her. I went straight back to my clothes."
I pinched the bridge of my nose. She must have knocked him good. "She is a southern wolf?" I ask.
"Yeah but I think one of those dragon-borne things." The man shuttered with fear.
"Exactly where are you in the states?" I matter of factually asked.
"Just past the state line on the Arizona side the edge of the Mollogan Rim." I knew that spot.
"Hold tight, I will be there in five." I hung up. I requested Shaman. Who appeared before I finished his name.
"I want to meet that she-wolf too." He nodded. A huge smirk on his face.
"What do you know I don't?" I stood walking around the desk, ignoring the paper gnome on my desk.
"She is a dragon borne that got lost." He shrugged. A smile still playing on his lips.
"Your hiding something," I grunted as we landed right next to a wolf who you could smell had shat his pants.
"Holy f**k," the tiny southern wolf's wide brown eyes were as big as saucers. "My mom said I was small," the man tilted his head back to look up at Shaman and me.
"What's your name?" I used the command of beta on him. I was pretty sure an alpha tone would make him a puddle of wolf goo.
"Javier." He blurted before looking even more surprised and terrified.
"Javier," I paused a moment. I wasn't sure I shod add the order but I did. "Take us to where you saw her."
His eyes got even wider, fear rolled off him like a tsunami. "Y-yes, sir." He quake like a leaf in the wind as he stripped down changing into his small chocolate-colored wolf.
Good, ahead we are right with you. I mind linked him even his wolf looked surprised. But his wolf nodded and started slowly into the forest behind his batter primer grey little work truck.
Tys came forward and Shaman's wolf matched my stride as we too followed the little wolf. Our hearing could pick up a fight in the distance but not of what. Could be normal wolves, coyotes, and the actual wolf we were here to see.
The little wolf in front of us trotted in the direction we beard the fight, so I was hoping that was her. But I need to pick up the pace. the fight doesn't always last very long. Tys grabbed Javier's wolf by the scruff and we took off at a faster pace. Shaman matched me stride for stride as the trees started to blur together.
The smell of blood and the sounds of the fight got stronger the more we ran. Breaking the tree line, an open meadow showed us the blood bath of a fight going on. She was most definitely a dragon-borne. almost as big as Jewel. Her fur though shimmered a glittery silver with hints of opal color. Even Shaman stood in awe of the fur color not covered in blood. She stopped her dance of death blows and jerked he head in our direction. A snarl, with dripping blood, is what she showed.
Shaman didn't miss a beat as he went human once more. "She is almost to feral blood lust." He signaled me by telling me to stay put and watch with his hand gesture.
I dropped the little wolf who was currently peeing with fright. "Go on, get." I jerked my head back behind me, while never taking my eyes from the she-wolf and Shaman.
Javier literally scurried and crawled away like a whooped pup. I watched the dragon-borne rogue step over the mangled corpses of the rogues who had tried to capture her. I wondered what Shaman had planned.
She is stronger than us. Tys my wolf spoke in my head.
I gathered that. I watched as power oozed of her like nothing. She was a leader. There was no denying she was a very powerful wolf.
"Tys," It was Athens voice out of no where that had me take my eyes off her. He waved me to him quickly. I seen Cacodemon bounding off to Shaman.
"Why are you guys here?" I asked as I morphed back to my human body.
"Shaman wanted to make sure you got out in case it gets sticky." The was a soft giggle that Athens couldn't help where violence was concerned.
I followed his gaze back to where Shaman stood just a distance from the odd colored wolf. My Uncle in his Cacodemon form just behin and to the right of him. Ready should things turn messy.
