Tara (2)

I waited while Shaman and Tara chatted as they wandered further into the training grounds. I sat on the grass looking up at the stars. The same stars I enjoyed as a child who had been stuck in his world. I watched them twinkle in the sky, Tara would make a great independent leader like your sister is. Ty's filled my head with his voice. Of what is the question? I groaned. It was something I wasn't even sure of or where to begin. You know that spy thing that Athens talks about. Having her as a leader would prove brilliant. She is very powerful and that power will only get better with age. Tys seemed proud of this young dragon-borne. Well, that would only be two members? I had no idea where he was taking this. Your gift is finding things that help. You have ways of gathering people and healing while giving them a job to do. Part of who you were meant to be. Tys still embodied that state of a proud father. You could feel it emanating off him in waves. He had knowledge he was not sharing with me and I wanted to know why. Why are you not sharing like you use to? I finally just asked. Because you needed a break. so I have been having them but cut off the link to you. True shrugged matter of fact in my head. I see, what is it we need to do? I broke down to question. We are part of much in the coming years. People will seek us out for our ability to find the right person for the job. Tys seemed bored by the notion of that happening. Will, we still be part of the court here? I wondered if I was not gonna be Jewel's Beta anymore. You will be the Beta, no one will be taking that from you. Tys chuckled, you will just give her more of an advantage. I didn't mind giving Jewel more of an advantage. I liked the idea she could use me to help herself. She was my little sister, anyway I could help I wanted to. Just like with Jakarta. I wanted to make sure those who had hurt her in the past were dealt with as my Uncle Hawk had done for Amber. Jakarta on the other hand did not want that. She just wanted to move with her life and learn her powers. She believed in karma and how it affects people. She always said, "what you put out into the world has a way of finding you for payment." Jakarta wanted to make sure her p*****t and that of mine were always good. My nose caught the scent of blood, which perked my other senses. As I scanned the trees and listened I heard a whimper and flesh smacking flesh. I stood quietly and quickly. Shaman and Tara had picked up on whatever it was. I shook my head at them. Letting Tys take over, I followed the scent and the sound. I found a jaguar were-cat With what appeared to be another young woman/girl. I couldn't tell by the flayed skin of her back as her arms were wrapped around a tree and tied together. The jaguar morphed into his beast and lunged for me. Tys ducked down and rolled letting him land nowhere near me. As he regathered for another attack I rolled under him and used my teeth to grab his neck. I ripped his throat out quickly. Shaman and Tara broke through the trees just in time to see the light leave the cat's eyes. Shaman went straight to untieing the girl while Tara gave her the jacket she was wearing. I morphed back from Tys. Jewel, I just found a were-cat beating the hell out of a young girl. I linked her. Seriously?! Jewel growled. Do you have him? Yes but, I ended up having to kill him. I answered. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Jewel huffed. I will be there in 10. Then the link dropped off. "Jewel coming?" Shaman asked. His attention fully focused on the girl. "Yes, she will be here soon." I knelt next to Shaman and noticed I had never met this girl and she was most definitely not a wolf. She was a human. I could smell magic on her but I wasn't sure if that was from the cat or who knew. "Human?" I looked at Shaman quietly. He nodded his head but placed his finger to his lips for me to remain silent. Why did a were-cat have a human and how had she survived this beating? Shaman picked her up murmuring words that it would be ok. We all heard her whimper. But there was no protest from her after. We began our walk back. All of us quietly think in our heads. I had never interacted much with humans except during travel or at a random shop. I knew some humans knew of us but for the most part, we all assumed they knew nothing and we liked to keep it that way. We were silent as Jewel and Tau followed by Elder Braun and Pinky. They all sniffed and their jaws fell open. "Let's get her to the hospital wing. I hope one of the Doctors knows something about human healing and needs. Again even with the added people we were silent. There was nothing we could come up with that would be a reason to bring humans into our world. I was pretty sure all of us were just as lost as we could be. This was uncharted territory. " I am Doctor Matata." A large woman of Maori descent. Her dark brown eyes were warm while her tattoos added a fierce look to her features. I knew she was half-southern wolf and human. She did not get her wolf until she was 21 instead of early teens. She looked at the small woman/girl in Shaman's arms. Scooping her gently from him the girl whimpered again and then went limp. "It is ok," Dr. Matata looked at us. "She passed out from the pain. It helps humans recoup. I will get her on some pain meds and get those wounds taken care of." The woman turned to leave us where she stood. "May I follow?" it was Tara who asked. "Of course, she could use a friend." Dr. Matata smiled. "I will be by to check on her." My sister Jewel spoke before turning with Tau to leave. Pinky and Elder Braun had their heads together chatting. Shaman looked at me just as confused as I felt. "A human?" His is eyes spoke volumes how he felt, so confused.
