Ella’s POV
He was looking at me intently, with a warm smile on his face.
“What are you smiling at?” I asked him.
“Nothing… I just can’t believe that you are mine. I really am the luckiest guy in the world aren't I…” he said, making me blush slightly.
As he spoke, he slowly lifted his shirt from the left side, taking it off his body in one swift motion. I felt tingles running up and down my body as he walked closer towards me.
Damn he was hot!
I was losing myself in his gaze. His body was thoroughly ripped and his eyes were pulling me like crazy. When he reached me, I lifted my arm slowly and placed it onto his abs. I could feel the solid gentle bumps as I moved my hand up to his built chest.
He placed his arm on my neck, parting my hair to the side and gently planting a kiss on my skin. I let out a soft moan as the intense electricity of his touch travelled across my body.
He turned my head around, looking into my eyes and then pulling my mouth closer to his. He then slowly sunk his lips into mine, making me close my eyes to savor his every taste. His lips were so soft.
Before I knew it, I was climbing up onto him and wrapping my legs around his waist. He held me up in the air as I got lost further and further in the taste of his lips.
I suddenly heard a familiar vibration shaking the fabric near my head. And then it hit me… that was my phone’s alarm ringing.
Oh no… I had been dreaming? Come on…
I didn’t even want to open my eyes, but my ringing alarm had already broken my sweet dreamworld into pieces now. I couldn’t get it back no matter how hard I tried.
Why was my alarm even ringing? It was Sunday today. I picked up my phone from beside me, mad at it for ruining such a good moment, and quickly switched off the alarm. I must have accidentally scheduled a Sunday alarm.
And now I was already wide awake and I couldn’t do anything about it.
Wait, why in the hell was I already dreaming about him?… Phoenix. I had only met him once last night at the Alpha party, and now he was in my dreams?
But it wasn’t much of surprise I guess. He was really dreamy himself.
I didn’t even notice it but a gentle smile was forming on my face as I started thinking about Phoenix again, while looking up at the ceiling in my bedroom.
We’d had such an amazing talk with him last night. I had actually thought that being forced to participate in Zane’s inauguration party would be like the worst day of my life, but instead, the night ended on such an amazing note.
When we met, Phoenix had told me how, like me, he was also kinda introverted and didn’t really like crowded social settings like that party. He told me that his parents had made him come, and that was the only reason he’d been at the party in the first place.
I don’t know… he and I had just kicked it off. Also, he was the only person who’d ever given me that look. That dazzling soul-gazing kind of look. He looked at me like there was some treasure in my eyes or something. It made me feel like I was on top of the world.
I had never felt anything like that ever before.
We’d stood up there on the railings and talked for hours while everybody continued partying and celebrating Zane’s ascension to Alpha. And now for some reason, I just couldn’t get that amazing time I’d had with him out of my head.
Oh God, what the hell was happening.
Phoenix had also told me that he was transferring to Silver Claw High and would start there on Monday. Wait, that meant that I would see him again tomorrow at school.
I was so looking forward to that. I couldn’t even understand exactly what was happening. I mean, Phoenix wasn’t really my mate. I’d have known the moment I saw him if he was. No… Zane was my mate and that asshole had… you know just forget him.
But if Phoenix wasn’t really my mate, why would a hot guy like him choose to talk to me at that party? I still didn’t get it. And honestly that didn’t really matter to me.
The only thing that I seemed to really care about was that I was going to see him again at school tomorrow. I was so excited… I mean, what would I even wear?
While thoughts of last night still flooded my head, I slowly got out of bed and walked into my bathroom. I washed my face and then walked out of my room to head to the living room.
Since it was Sunday, I didn’t really have much planned for the day.
I walked lazily into the living room to find my parents already seated at the breakfast table. Both of them looked a little surprised the moment they saw me.
“Morning,” I grumbled.
“Morning dear,” Mom said, “You're up early… what’s the occasion?” she added.
“An accidental alarm is the occasion Mom,” I said. She chuckled slightly.
“Did you have fun at the party last night, you came to the house pretty late,” Mom added, wearing a slight smile on her face and looking at me.
Her question immediately made me think about Phoenix again. Which made me smile too.
“Yeah Mom… it was alright,” I said.
“Oh and sweetie,” Dad suddenly said, sipping from his cup of coffee, “We forgot to tell you yesterday. Your cousin Susan will be coming over to stay with us for a while. Her Mom wants her to find a job here in Locksbridge before her gap year ends,” he added.
Susan was my aunt’s only daughter. She and her Mom lived in Laketown, a few miles away from our town Locksbridge. She had just joined college like two years ago, and now apparently she was taking a gap year.
There was always something with that girl. But she was my favorite family member. I didn’t really have many friends, but whenever she and her Mom visited, Suzie always just seemed to get me. We’d been very tight ever since we were little girls, so when I heard she was coming over, I got super stoked.
I hadn’t seen her in forever, since she joined college.
“Oh, nice…” I said to Dad, “When is she coming?” I added.
Before Dad could speak, I suddenly caught scent of a werewolf in our midst. I had never actually smelt Suzie’s werewolf scent before so I didn’t actually know it was her, until she opened the door to our house and walked into the living room.
That was fast.
She looked so pretty, like always, and she was pulling her suitcase behind as she looked up at the dining table where my parents and I were.
“Do you guys always leave your door open?” she said, smiling gently.
“And do you always barge into houses without knocking?” I mocked her back, hoping to get her attention, which I did.
“Oh… Ellaaaa,” she said, looking at me with the brightest smile ever.
I smiled back and hurried across the room towards her, hugging the life out of her as she told me how much she’d missed me.
She and I left my parents in the living room and I helped her carry her bag to my room where she’d be staying. I couldn’t wait to hear why she’d taken a gap year, but apparently, she didn’t even want to talk about that, she just wanted to talk about me.
“Wow, you’re eighteen now Ella, that must be so amazing… Did you meet your wolf?” she said, sitting on the bed and looking at me.
“I did… it was so painful when I turned but also so awesome at the same time. I named her Snow because her fur is all white,” I said to her.
“White fur, huh… that’s so…”
“Different, I know,” I finished her sentence, “Mom told me all about white wolves…” I continued.
Just as Suzie and I were talking, I suddenly realized she was exactly the person I needed right now.
Suzie had won like three beauty pageants back in the day in Laketown and she’d told me all about it. She was a fashion queen, and I needed just somebody like her to help me turn myself around.
I was sick and tired of moping over Zane and his humiliating rejection, I just wanted to start over. And besides, I was going to see Phoenix again at school tomorrow, something I was so looking forward to.
Maybe Suzie could help me figure out what to wear, since she knew everything about that. I didn’t actually want to wear to impress anyone, I just wanted to look good and feel good about myself. I needed that, because my days of crying over the rejection were so over.
I wasn’t going to do that anymore… No.
“Hey, can you help me figure out what I’ll wear to school tomorrow?” I asked Suzie.
“Why?” she said, “Do you have a date?” she added, smiling.
“Aaah yeah, sort of,” I said, making her squeal in joy.
“Uuuuh, you have to tell me everything. But first, let me see here…” she said, walking over and opening my closet to start looking inside.
She didn’t talk. She just turned around with shock on her face and looked at me.
“What…” I said.
“There is nothing here… There’s literally nothing here. What do you wear?” she said, making me chuckle slightly.
I had never been too keen about what I wore. I had always just assumed it didn’t matter because no one cared anyway. But now, it definitely did matter. I was reinventing myself, and I knew that meant changing in every way possible.
“Oh come on… there is not nothing, I have lots of clothes, look again,” I said to her.
“Girl, you need a makeover,” she said.
She was probably right. I needed something like that. I was over being the old me. I needed a fresh start. Thank Goddess Suzie was here to help me with that.
After insisting that I had nothing wearable, she and I got out of my room and went back to the living room. Suzie asked Dad if we could borrow his credit card and somehow he just agreed. He didn’t ask what we wanted it for, he just pulled it out and gave it to me.
He must have assumed we were going out for lunch or something.
“Alright you two… here, have fun,” he said.
Suzie smiled and glanced at me as we walked out of the house to go shopping at the mall.
