Chapter 6

(Maya POV)
"Are you familiar with fighting?" Danni asked as I nodded.
"Dad taught me to fight. Although it's only in human form" I said as they nodded in understanding.
"Alright then. Let’s test your human skills", he said leading me to the ground.
"What do we do first?" I asked excitedly looking around. I have always dreamt of joining the pack fighters.
"You do nothing" I heard a familiar void voice from behind. I turned my head and raised my eyebrows at my so called mate.
"What?" I asked irritated. "And why is that?" I asked.
"Because I said so" he shrugged.
"Oh hell no. You have no b****y right on me" I angrily said pointing at him.
By this time a fairly large crowd had formed around us watching the fight curiously.
"How about we test her, Vince. It’s not fair to judge her by the cover" Danni said as Roe nodded in approval.
"She is not going to fight in any way," my stubborn headed mate said as I let out a frustrated sigh.
"Vince. Don't be stubborn. Isn't it a good idea to train her? I mean you want Maya to be defenseless like Loreal?" Roe said as I felt my mate tense.
"Fine. Test her out first with the female warriors" he said sighing.
I was happy he finally agreed but it did sting a little because they had to bring up the 'dead mate' card.
"Alright then. Amelia come forward. You will fight Maya" Danni said as a brunette stepped forward. She was taller than me and well fitted. She was beautiful but her stone face gave away the beauty.
She walked her way to the ring and I followed suit standing on the other side.
"Alright, I want a clean fight ladies. No cheating, and don't kill each other. Shifting is not allowed as well as the use of any weapons. The winner is declared by a 5 seconds pin down" Danni said as we both nodded.
"Words girls," he said seriously.
"Yes, Gamma!" We both said as he nodded in satisfaction.
"Alright! Position yourself" he said as we got on our fighting stance.
"Go!" He shouted and the moment he voiced it out Amelia ran to me at full speed.
She swung her hands down towards my face but I dodged it quickly before swinging my leg to her shoulder. She faltered and fell on her knees before I kicked her in the stomach.
Although she grunted in pain she swiftly got up and punched me in my face making me fall to the ground. I immediately got up and kicked her hard in the ribs and then punched her in the face.
My eyes automatically shifted to my mate making sure he was watching me fight. I want to prove my worth to him.
He was staring at me and at that moment I regretted looking at him. I fell into a trace and I lost my focus. Amelia jumped and hit me behind the neck as I fell on my knees with a sharp pain.
Shaking myself I got up but only to be kicked in my chest. I felt my lungs explode and my breathing became labeled.
She grabbed hold of my hair and punched my other cheek making me fall forcefully on the ground
She then body slammed on top of me as Danni started counting.
"1 2 3 4 5. And you’re out Maya," he said and I felt the weight above me disappear.
I let out a frustrated cry at the easy defeat as I sat up. My chest was in pain and so were my cheeks. I knew I had marks on my body but I also knew it would heal real soon since I now have the werewolf healing ability.
I looked up and saw Amelia reaching her hand out with a small smile.
"I'm sorry I got harsh," she said as I grabbed her hand.
"It's OK" I whispered as she pulled me up.
"Useless in fighting" I heard my mate grumble as I looked at him with teary eyes.
"You fought OK but not good. Even though you have speed, you are easily distracted. You enter a battle field and you are killed in seconds" he said as he turned to walk back to the pack house.
I let out a sigh looking at his retreating figure.
"You alright?" Roe asked as I nodded with a fake smile.
"Yup," I said before pausing. "I'll be in my room," I said before walking to the house.
******Dinner time*****
"Hey!" Roe greeted as I waved and walked to her.
"Hey, Roe," I said as I sat on the empty seat.
"How are you?" She asked clearly trying to start a conversation.
"I'm good," I said, and then silence filled around us. I looked around the crowded room and frowned when I didn't see Vince.
"Vince went for a quick border check with Danni if that's what you’re wondering. They linked they are almost home." She said as the front door open.
"Speak of the devils and they shall arrive," she said as the boys entered.
Danni kissed her mate on her cheek before occupying the empty seat next to her while my mate didn't even bother to acknowledge me. He went straight to an empty seat across me even though there was one next to me.
I let out a sigh as I continued eating my chicken.
After dinner, the four of us, as per Danni's suggestion, decided to watch a movie.
Unfortunately, they decided to choose some murder superhero movie which Roe and I felt bored off our entire mind.
"So what about shopping tomorrow Maya?" Roe asked gaining my attention.
"Yeah sure"
"No," Vince and I said at the same time. I turned my head and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Excuse me?" I asked
"You are excused," he said with a smirk.
I narrowed my eyes at his remark as he shrugged.
"I would love to go, Roe," I said giving her a smile.
"No you cannot", my so called mate said again making me glare at him.
"And why not?" I asked irritated.
"Because I say so," he said with no emotion.
"You’re not my father," I said.
"I'm your mate" he countered making me boil.
"Oh, now I'm your mate?" I said angrily before standing up.
"You made it clear I am not your mate and that means I can do whatever I want without your f*****g permission," I said as I stomped out of the room.
I walked through the hallway angry with his stupid behavior.
Speed walking my way away from him I failed to notice the wall I bumped into. I fell to the ground with a thud as I heard footsteps running to me.
"Oh my god are you okay" a familiar voice came as I rubbed my bruised head.
"I'm alright" I mumbled glaring at the white wall.
"Daydreaming?" He asked as I huffed and turned to glare at the guy.
"Oh! Edward!" I said surprised at his appearance.
He burst out in laughter and I couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Sorry I wasn't paying attention," I said as he shook his head.
"Clearly you weren't. And now u have a swelling on your forehead" he said as I put my hand on my forehead.
"Ow," I said as I felt a sting.
"Let me see," he said as he bent a little to reach my level.
"It’s only a small bruise. It will heal in a few hours. But let’s put ice so that you’ll heal faster" he said as I nodded and walked behind him.
"Um... aren't we going to the kitchen to get ice pack?" I asked confused as to why he turned directly to the stairs.
"There's no need. I have a small cooler in my room. But if you feel uncomfortable we can go to the kitchen" he said as I nodded a no.
"No, it's alright. Let's head to your room" I said and we continued to walk.
His room is better. Going through the kitchen means walking through the living room and that means I will have to face Vince who I know will give me a lesson of how stupid I am.
"You coming?" He asked as he opened his door.
"Yea"
