Chapter Eleven

The moment Isabella took off up the stairs I was straight after her. I began to panic when I saw her quickly shift. I linked Cal that she was on her way out and to stop her.
I knew she was going after Beatrice and I knew I needed to be with her. I needed to protect my Luna. There was no telling what she was capable of.
She had somehow managed to escape the house with the boys despite Stephan's men watching and now that he couldn't contact them I feared she had somehow managed to incapacitate them. If she had managed to do that on her own to several large male wolves then there was no telling what she would be able to do to Isabella if she caught up to her on her own.
Despite me being an Alpha and faster than your average wolf I knew that Sophie was much faster than me. In the past when her and Casper have ran together in the forest on our territory he has struggled to keep pace with her and that was when they were just playing. I could only imagine the speed she would have now that she was chasing her pups.
I ran outside and was surprised to see Cal and two more of my warriors flat on their backs with a look of shock on their faces.
" Sorry Alpha." Cal gasped as he struggled to his feet.
" We tried to stop her but she seemed to hit us with some kind of force without touching us. It knocked us all back and she took off."
I turned quickly in the direction I knew that Beatrice had gone and could just make out the red shape of Sophie galloping like the wind. I was right she was going faster than I could have even imagined.
I tried to link her and tell her to stop but she had put up a block and I couldn't reach her.
Without even bothering to undress I gave Casper full control and he was after her.
I just hoped we could reach her before she got to Beatrice.
I linked Cal as I ran informing him of the conversation I had had with Stephan. I gave him instructions to retrieve my phone from my discarded clothes and have some men track down the missing men from Stephan's pack. The rest were to follow us.
My lungs burnt as Casper sucked in air and pushed himself as hard as he could desperately trying to catch up with our mate. He tried his best but I could see through his eyes that although we could still see her far in the distance she was pulling further away.
I marvelled at her speed and at any other time I would have been proud but right now I could only wish she wasn't so fast and then I would be able to catch up with her.
I thought about what Cal had said as I ran. Sophie had knocked them back with some kind of force. I had no idea she was capable of that. I don't think Isabella did either but it would make sense. She was of royal descent and Jack had inherited power from her so it would make sense she would have some locked away somewhere.
Perhaps if she had been able to have been raised by her real parents then she would have been able to flourish. They would have known how to nurture her powers but this wasn't the case and instead they had been locked away inside.
I am brought back to the situation in front of me when I spot two black jeeps speeding along the road in front us. Just ahead of them is a smaller silver car and I can see now what Stephan meant about it driving erratically. It is swerving from side to side as the driver struggles to keep it steady at speed on the uneven gravel road.
As I watch on Sophie pushes past the jeeps and then the car until she stops dead in the middle of the road.
Fear fills my heart as I worry that the car won't stop. If it hits Isabella at that speed it could kill her and any occupants in the car would surely suffer the same fate.
Before Casper can run more than a couple more feet the sound of tyres screeching and the smell of burning rubber fills the air.
Its all still so far away in front of me.
The car stops just before it makes contact with Sophie and I see the jeeps skidding to halt behind them.
I breathe a sigh of relief.
I am still not there but knowing that Stephans men are there gives me slight comfort.
Casper continues to run and closes the distance but not nearly quick enough.
I see the doors of the silver car all open and the boys run towards Sophie. Jacob makes it to her but Beatrice manages to grab hold of Jack before he can get there.
Fear turns to anger as I watch her place a silver dagger up against his throat.
Casper reaches the car and begins to snarl at her. She looks terrified and desperate. This is not a good. At this point I'm sure she feels like she is on borrowed time and she will know she is going to die for what she has done.
She could easily kill Jack if she feels like she has nothing to lose.
I need to calm her down quickly.
Casper is reluctant to give me back control and before he can I hear a loud scream from Jacob.
I turn to look over to him and Sophie and as I do there is a blinding flash of light so much so that Casper is forced to turn away and shield his eyes.
When we look back neither of them are there.
Casper scans around him frantically but they are nowhere to be seen. He can't even pick up there scent. They have simply vanished.
Sure that Beatrice had something to do with it Casper turns his attention back to her. She is however looking just as shocked and confused by it as us. I notice that she has loosened her hold on Jack and the dagger has slipped from her hand as she looks around her searching just as we had been.
Wasting no time he lunges at her just as one of Stephan's men pulls Jack from her grip.
He clamps down onto her arm and rips it from its socket. She screams as blood begins to pump from the wound and drops to the road in defeat.
He could have killed her easily right there but he held back. I know he was thinking the same thing as me. Our mate wants this kill.
Stephan's men waste no time restraining her and I take back control and shift back.
Jack is sobbing quietly in the arms of the man who pulled him free.
Someone brings me a pair of pants and I slip them on and then take Jack in my arms lifting him up with ease.
He nuzzled into my neck and continued to sob.
" Where are Mum and Jacob?"
" I don't know buddy but I promise we will find them"
My brain is racing as I try to make sense of the flash of light right before Isabella and Jacob vanished.
I carry him to one of the jeeps and climb inside with him still in my arms.
" Daddy Drew. I was so scared."
" I know but it's all ok now" I tried to reassure him.
Stephans men drove us to his territory which at this point was only a mile away to the east.
Beatrice was driven in the other car.
As soon as the cars pulled up Stephan was outside waiting.
He had his men transport Beatrice to a cell and showed me to a room for a now sleeping Jack. The poor thing had cried himself to sleep in my arms.
I placed him gently on the bed and kissed his cheek before I crept out of the room closing the door quietly behind me.
Stephan was waiting outside with a grave expression.
" Cal contacted me not long ago. He has located all my men. They have been shot with darts and each one is in a critical condition. It appears the darts had Silver and wolfsbane inside. If Cal and your men had found them any later they would all be dead."
" I'm sorry that your men are suffering for trying to help us Stephan"
He nodded.
" You could not have known this would happen and they would have still wanted to go if they had known this risk."
"I am afraid that we have been unable to track down Isabella or Jacob" He continued.
" I just don't understand how they could dissappear like that." I said.
Stephan lends me his phone so I can call Marcus and let him know whats happened. He is just as puzzled and worried as I am.
He had wanted to come with us to find the twins but he was still not fully healed from his fight with Walter. It was decided that he would be better off staying at home with Jennifer and my parents that way there was more people to help look after the pups.
" As soon as Cal arrives and Jack is awake I will have him brought back home. I am going to stay here and look for Isabella and Jacob".
