I didn't know what happened. One minute I was in front of the car and the next I was being shoved backwards. An involuntary cry escaped my mouth as I fell to the ground with another body on top of me. I opened my eyes to find Chase breathing hard above me. How could he possibly be here with me? He was on the opposite side of the road when the vehicle was speeding towards me.
I stared at him in shock. Shocked that I had almost lost my life and even more shocked that he had somehow saved me in the blink of an eye.
"Y-you w-were t-here. . ." I stuttered, finding it hard to speak at a time like this. My mind was spinning, I couldn't come to terms with what had just happened.
Had I hit my head?
"Are you okay?" Chase asked, his eyes staring back at me with concern.
Wait, his eyes. . . They weren't the honey color I remembered it to be, no it was most definitely a silver blue.
This wasn't possible. I was losing my mind!
"Cianna?" He called once more as he tried to gain my attention.
I couldn't respond, all I could do was stare at him completely dumbstruck.
Chase rubbed his face with his hand and took a second to evaluate our surroundings. Whatever he saw had his body tensing up, before I had time to react he leaned down lower and gripped my waist with both hands.
He picked me up from the ground and hid me from the crowd that was forming around us. Within seconds we were surrounded by his bodyguards, protecting us from the people coming up to us.
A car pulled up and Chase gently pushed me in before getting into the seat next to me. I didn't know what was happening around me. I hadn't even realized that he had bodyguards following us, where did they appear from?
But still that wasn't what was bothering me. I'd definitely seen his eyes change color and the weird thing about it was that this wasn't the first time I'd experience this. But none of that compared to the fact that I'd seen him in the car seconds before a God damn car almost hit me! Then how on earth could he have possibly reached to me so quickly?
I didn't know how to ask him. Wasn't sure that I'd seen everything that I had. It was true that I could simply be experiencing effects of trauma from almost getting killed. But all those other times where I'd witnessed him with golden eyes, was I hallucinating then as well?
I wanted to believe that I was imagining all of this but I couldn't deny all of the weird stuff that I'd only started seeing after meeting him.
This one was the craziest one however. I just couldn't find it in myself to believe that this had just happened to me.
"Cianna," Chase whispered. "I need you to say something, are you okay?"
I looked at him and gasped. "Your eyes. . ." I whispered. "They were s-silver just now. . . And sometimes it's gold. . . Now they're back to n-normal."
His jaw clenched and he turned away from my gaze. "You're seeing things, we're going to have to take you to see a doctor to make sure you didn't get a concussion."
"B-but—,"
"Take a right here, we're taking her to see my doctor." He told the driver, completely cutting me off.
I wanted to ask him so many more questions but he didn't seem interested in hearing what I had to say. For some reason my words before had offended him. It made me think that he was hiding something from me, his actions didn't sit right with me.
Something was going on here. . .

~CHASE~
I met John inside the car, my anger on the verge of toppling over.
"She's inside with the doctor." I said before he could ask any questions. I waited for Cianna's mother to get out the car before turning to him. "I told you this was a bad idea."
His eyes were sad. "I didn't think that you would go off risking everything to save the girl's life."
I scowled at him. "What was I supposed to do?" I demanded. "Did you want me to watch her die?"
He shook his head, his eyes wide. "Of course not. I'm grateful that you did what you did. I couldn't live with myself if I let anything happen to Cianna when her mother entrusted her safety to me. I just never thought that you would risk everything over someone you barely knew." He explained.
I pressed my lips tightly together, annoyed at where this conversation was heading.
What was I really pissed about? Was I angry that I'd almost risked it all or was I angry that I'd almost lost her?
I swallowed.
This. . . This was dangerous.
"She knows that something is up." I told him. "She mentioned to me that she's seen my eye change colors, she also wanted to know how I made it to her so quickly."
John rubbed his eyes and shook his head. "I should have never went looking for love, look at the mess I've put you in." He stated. "I never wanted this to happen Chase. But sometimes you can't help yourself when you fall in love, you want to be with that person all of the time and you don't care about the consequences. I haven't felt like this since the death of my wife. I didn't want to lose her. . ."
I sighed. "You don't need to explain yourself. I knew what I was getting myself into when I agreed to this." I assured him. "I'll just have to stay away from home for a little bit. I'll try to stay in a hotel for a few days until the wedding. That way she hopefully forgets about everything."
"In the meantime I'd try to get her to believe that what she saw wasn't real." He said. "I can also tell her that you're busy on set and won't be home for a few days so that she doesn't get suspicious of anything."
I nodded. "Thanks."
My main mission was still to get home. I should be thankful that no one had their cameras out and was recording what was happening or I would have been completely screwed.
I was sure of one thing however. . . This could never happen again.
