I didn't know what to think of the comments. The majority of them were wanting to find out who I was and why Chase was shopping with me. Some were happy that he was no longer with Haisley. But that wasn't even true, they were just assuming things because of the pictures of us together.
I hurriedly made my way downstairs and found the entire family in the living room, that included Chase.
"Oh darling." My mother said as soon as she saw me. "We just saw the news. We're so sorry you're already getting caught up in all of this but you have nothing to worry about, Chase will clear up all of the misunderstandings as fast as he could."
"I don't think he even has too." John cut in. "I mean the wedding announcements will be made today publicly. I believe the reporters would know by then who you are and set the record straight for us."
I felt Chase's eyes on me but kept my gaze on my mother. I didn't want to know what he was thinking. Today was only our first day together and already I'd caused trouble for him more than once. I was positive he was already regretting letting my mother and I move in here.
"Haisley is going to flip." I heard my mother whisper to John.
I hadn't even thought of that. The girl already hated me, she was no doubt going to cause a big scene over this. Once again I'd managed to make Chase's life more difficult for him.
Could things get any worse?
....................................…………………..
I yawned and opened my eyes to a room that wasn't mine. It was then that all the events of the past day flowed into my mind. I buried my head against the pillow and groaned out loud.
It would take time for me to get accustomed to my new life here.
"Cianna!" I heard my mother call from the doorway. "Can you please wake up, we have a long day ahead of us today."
I frowned.
Long day ahead of us? No one told me anything about that yesterday. Then again, I should have expected it since the wedding was in a few days.
"Okay mom!" I shouted loud enough for her to hear.
After getting dressed I made my way out my room and down the stairs. I found Chase waiting at the front of the door with his key in his hands. His eyes immediately went to me and I had to hold onto the railing to keep from falling down the flight of steps. I didn't understand how just his eyes alone could make me feel things I've never once felt before. I blew a sigh of relief when he turned and resumed his conversation with his father.
"Good morning Cianna." John greeted me as I joined them with my mother.
I smiled. "Good morning."
"Since we're all here, let's get going."
I nodded and followed them outside where a Lamborghini Urus was parked outside waiting for us. Did they have cars for every event around here?
I shouldn't be surprised after seeing how rich they were. What should surprise me is the fact that Chase chose to drive, I expected to see a butler carrying them wherever they wanted to go.
The drive was quiet, well quiet between Chase and I. My mother and John were talking nonstop.
"So," my mother began. "How are you two getting along?"
"Yes." John joined in. "I would also like to know, since you both are going to be spending a lot of time together it is important that you get along well."
Spending a lot of time together? I wasn't sure how I felt about that. There was something between us, something strong. Something that I would rather be kept hidden and locked away. But I wasn't sure if that was possible if Chase and I started spending plenty of time together.
"Fine." Chase answered for us when he realized I wasn't about to say anything.
Thankfully, we were already pulling up to our first stop and were saved from any more of these questions.
I got out the vehicle with John and my mom, however Chase chose to not come with us.
We crossed the street and headed into the building, I believe they had some business to get done with these people concerning the final decorations they were adding to the wedding venue.
The wedding venue.
I'd found out yesterday that the wedding would be taking place in PARIS!
I'd originally thought that it would be held at the house, however once again I was completely lost in this entire thing. I hadn't travelled once in my life and the fact that I was getting to go to Paris was a hard pill to swallow. However, I couldn't complain, this was the best news ever.
Who wouldn't want to go to Paris?
"I just realized I forgot my wallet in the car." John pointed out while searching his pockets once more. "I'll go get it and come back to meet you both."
"It's okay." I cut him off. "I'll go get it and bring it to you."
John smiled. "Thank you Cianna."
I nodded and hurriedly made my way back out the building. I didn't even know why I offered to do this, I hadn't thought the entire thing through properly. Now I would have no choice but to be alone with Chase again even though it would be for less than a minute. It didn't matter, I would still be nervous. As I exited the building the first thing I saw was Chase still seated in the vehicle. It looked as though he was on the phone again.
I paused at the roadside, I really didn't think this through. I hated anything that had to do with crossing a street.
I was about to cross when a loud sound pierced through the air. I looked up just in time to see a car speeding towards me. Every muscle in my body froze.
Oh. My. God.
I was going to die!
