Chapter 8

1026 Words
~CIANNA~ It was a day before the wedding and we were already in Paris. I tried to pay attention to the conversation in front of me but I couldn't find it in me to keep a clear mind when all I wanted to do was search for Chase. I hadn't seen him since the day he'd dropped me off by his doctor. The day he had saved me. I didn't know whether he was avoiding me because of his girlfriend or whether he was trying to keep away from me because of the questions I'd asked him the day of the accident. I desperately wanted answers, I still wanted to believe that everything that I've seen was all just a misunderstanding but the fact that he was avoiding me had my mind thinking impossible things. I was the type of girl that enjoyed reading about vampires and werewolves, so this entire thing had me thinking that it was possible that they were real. I know it was absurd and anyone would think that I was crazy for thinking this way but I couldn't help but have these thoughts after everything that had happened to me since the first moment I'd met Chase Torres. "Mother," I called. "Are you sure Chase will be here today?" She turned to me, her eyes suspicious. Why wouldn't she be? I'd been asking her to see Chase since I came back from the doctor a few days ago. "Is everything alright dear?" She asked. "You've been asking for him quite a lot recently. Is there something that I should know?" I shook my head almost too quickly. "No, it's just that I haven't seen him since the day he saved me. I'm worried that I did something wrong and I didn't get a chance to thank him for protecting me." She smiled and touched my cheeks lightly. "He will be here soon dear, do not worry. You will get your chance to thank him." She assured me. "After all, you're going to be living in the same house from now on." I felt my heart skip a beat at her words. The thought of us sharing the same home for the rest of my life brought a certain satisfaction to my body. I took a walk around the arena and stopped to stare at some pretty roses. The venue they'd chosen for the wedding was absolutely breathtaking. I'd never seen a place look as beautiful as this one. Their were roses all over with white tables and chairs. Not the cheap kinds either, the expensive ones that could light up even a dull room. Even the grass here looked expensive! I closed my eyes and inhaled the sweet aroma as the wind blew my hair in all directions. "What a beauty." A strange voice whispered behind of me. I quickly turned around to see the person behind the voice and was stunned speechless. Alec Brayson! I blinked a couple of times, unsure whether or not this was real. He was also an actor like Chase and not as handsome but still better looking than the average guy. "I'm judging by your expression that you already know who I am." I smiled. "Yes, I do." He grinned. "It's nice to know that a pretty girl like you know of my accomplishments." He admitted. "So who's daughter are you? For I haven't seen you around before." "Oh," I said. "My mother is the woman John is marrying." His eyes widened. "I should have known." He responded. "There were pictures of you two everywhere on the internet. You're even more beautiful in real. Those pictures didn't do you justice." I could already see that Alec was most definitely the flirty type. I didn't know how to feel about his direct compliments however. If I was being honest, it made me feel a little uncomfortable. But why was that? A good looking successful actor was showing me his full attention while showering me with compliments and yet I wasn't interested? The sad truth was that I already knew why. It was because he wasn't Chase. That thought worried me. I shouldn't feel that way. He was going to be my stepbrother in a day and he also already was in a committed relationship with a woman that hated me. My thoughts angered me. I barely knew him and as far as I knew he could be some sort of creature like a bloodsucking vampire. Not that it would be a bad thing. I shook my head. I needed to stop thinking like this. Somehow or the other I needed to revert my attention back to the hot actor in front of me. "Alec. . ." I stiffened. I knew that voice. I knew it all too well. In fact I've been waiting to hear it the entire day so far. Actually, I've been waiting to hair his voice for days. Yet for some reason, I couldn't find the courage to turn around and actually look at him. "Chase." Alec answered. "It's nice to see you here. Not that I should be surprised, I mean it's your father's wedding." I finally built up the courage to look him in the eye and immediately regretted it. His eyes were already on me and for some reason he looked even more handsome than he did the last time I'd seen him. There was an unusual edge to him this time however, he seemed irritated about something as he returned his attention to Alec. "I didn't know you would be here." Chase said. "Well I mean you didn't invite me but your girlfriend did." He said. "But I'm happy I came. I got to meet your beautiful stepsister." If I didn't know any better I would think that Chase was actually glaring at Alec. He wasn't happy with something he'd said and I wondered if these two didn't like each other. "Cianna." He called suddenly, turning his penetrating gaze on me. "Father wanted me to speak to you about something in private, if that's okay with you." In private? That was a good idea. There were many questions I wanted to ask and I expected to get answers this time.
