Chapter 5

Chase glanced in my direction before speaking softer into the phone. "We will continue this conversation later, I'm driving." I heard her shout some more before he hung up. I was sure he would hear about that later today if they saw each other again. He returned his attention to the road without saying anything. I used that time to really look at him, his full lips were pressed into a tight line, his shoulders tensed. Judging by his composure, he most definitely wasn't comfortable with us being in the same car together. I couldn't blame him. Who would want to be stuck with a woman they'd only met for one day while their beautiful girlfriend was pissed because of it? I continued to look at him despite the warning bells going off in my head. I'd never seen someone so beautiful before. In fact, no one on Earth compared to this man. It was simply unfair, how could anyone be this damn irresistible? I now understood why girls lined up days before just to meet him. If you met him at least once you'll want to see him again and again. At least that was the case for me, now that I'd seen him, I didn't think I would ever want to be away. That thought scared me. My eyes were drawn to his neck now, even that caught my attention. I wanted to lean over and put my lips on it. I gasped, surprised at my own thoughts. Chase glanced at me and I immediately regretted making any sound. His eyes were hungry, almost as though he could read my mind. I'd never had someone look at me the way he was doing now, it completely turned me on. Without saying anything he returned his attention to the road but I noticed the way his hands tightened on the steering wheel. It told me that he wasn't as unaffected as he wanted me to believe. But it was absurd for me to think anything of it, it was just like me to overthink everything. Within a few minutes we pulled up to L&L Boutique. It was the most well-known clothing store in Beverly Hills, not just for its popular designs but also because of how expensive the clothing there was. If I felt bad before, I felt even worse now. I didn't know whether or not the employees knew the vehicle or whether Chase had scheduled an appointment but the entire parking lot was empty. As soon as he parked the car, a woman dressed in stylish clothing walked out to greet us. "Chase dear, it's such a pleasure to see you again." She greeted him. "What can we do for you today?" He motioned towards me and it was only then that the woman noticed that I was standing next to him. "I want you to find some outfits that suit her, I also need to find a dress suitable for a wedding reception." The woman looked at me suspiciously, she obviously wanted to know why Chase was buying outfits for me and not his girlfriend. "Sure, come with me dear." She told me. I followed her into what seemed to be the largest clothing store I'd ever been to in my entire life. Everything was beautiful. As we turned to our right, there were other employees waiting to meet us. The women's eyes widened upon our entrance. All of their gazes were stuck on Chase, not like I expected anything different. Even I couldn't turn away from him whenever I saw him. "Ladies," the woman said. "I need you to find some outfits for this young woman. We also need you to find a beautiful dress, anything for a wedding reception." "I want the best that you have." Chase cut in. She nodded. "Of course, only the best for you." I was nervous for some unknown reason. The women were taking my measurements and searching all around us while Chase sat on a chair watching us. After they were finished they all disappeared into the back, most likely searching the storage rooms. After a few minutes they came out with a long satin silver dress with a long slit to the side. They guided me to the dressing room and I hesitantly put it over my body. I couldn't imagine the price for this piece and didn't want to do anything crazy like accidentally rip the material. The dressing room alone was like a beautiful walk in closet with gigantic mirrors on every side. Even the lighting was perfect. Thankfully the zip was to the side and I didn't need to call anyone in to help with it. I took a deep breath and finally looked at the mirrors, what I saw next had my body in a state of disbelief. I'd never had something this extravagant before, nor something that ever outlined my figure so perfectly. "Are you finished dear?" I heard one of the employees ask. "Yes!" I called back. "Please come out so that Mr. Torres can see whether or not he likes it." I froze. Why should it matter whether or not Chase liked what I was wearing? I was the one wearing the dress, not him! I held my breath as I stepped outside and walked over to where he stood. He was leaned up on the wall  talking on the phone. He hadn't noticed my presence yet and it made me nervous just standing there while waiting for him to look at me. After a long minute he finally glanced up at me. To my surprise, he stopped talking to the person on the phone and openly stared at me. He took his sweet time trailing his eyes from my feet to my exposed legs and then up to my breasts. His eyes lingered there for a second longer than needed before he finally looked at my face. It was only for a second however and then he turned his attention back to his phone as though he hadn't been staring at me before. For some reason I felt frustration at his reaction. What did I expect? For him to come to me and tell me how beautiful I looked? Clearly I was delusional and needed a reality check. Even the people working here seemed embarrassed for me. I quietly walked straight back into the dressing room and prayed for this entire thing to be over so that we could go our separate ways. By separate ways I meant to our own rooms since we now apparently lived in the same house. It was approximately two hours later when everything was finally over and Chase dropped me off home. I breathed a sigh of relief as I dropped myself onto the bed. I had no idea how much the entire thing cost him, they'd handed him the bill and he'd paid it with his credit card and that was it. I was now loaded with stylish clothing and shoes that before I could only dream about wearing. I heard my phone beep and saw that my ex-boyfriend had tried messaging me. I rolled my eyes and quickly blocked the number as well as unfollowed him on all social media accounts. I sighed and scrolled through my phone when something caught my attention, something that had my heart racing and threatening to fly out my chest. I sat up on the bed and felt dizziness sweep into my body. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to make sure that I was seeing correctly. There were headlines all over with pictures of Chase and I together at the clothing store. Someone must have been taking pictures secretly while I was being forced to practically model for him in there!
