Chapter 4

1209 Words
~CHASE~ I glared at the human male as I fought to regain control of my body. But even though I tried to remind myself that this wasn't the place and time for this, I couldn't stop myself as I continued to lift him higher into the air. "What the—," I heard him say, his voice filled with panic. "Chase!" Cianna called behind of me. "Please don't waste your time. Let's just go." Her voice cut through me, reminding me of exactly what I was doing. We were out in the open where anyone could pull out a phone and record this. It was not only dangerous for my career but also for my own wellbeing. I stood completely motionless for a few seconds. I'd almost blown my cover, after fifteen years on Earth this was the first time I had lost control. I slowly positioned him back down onto the ground. "I'm Chase Torres. I protect those under my care. From today onwards Cianna is one of those people." I explained. "You don't want to mess with me." I warned. Without waiting for him to respond, I grabbed Cianna's hand and led her back into the car. I didn't understand what came over me or why I said those words to him. I didn't understand why my hand still tingled from just holding hers. I clenched my jaw as I got into the vehicle and reared the engine. My grip on the steering wheel tightened as my mind spun with what I'd almost done. My main mission has always been to find every way possible to return home safely to the family and home that I remembered. In order to do so, I understood that I couldn't do anything on Earth that could possibly risk everyone knowing that I was not from around here. This was something that I'd successfully managed to do in the fifteen years I'd spent here, but something happened today. . . The moment Cianna Agosti showed up in front of my house with her gorgeous hair and striking eyes. My feelings were like a strong wind, blowing everything away. I was confused and quite frankly, a bit uncomfortable with what I was feeling inside. It hasn't been even a day yet with this woman by my side and already I was willing to forget about everything I stood for just for her. Not only that, but I'd also managed to lose control of myself earlier the moment I'd seen her in just her underwear. It wasn't like I'd never seen a beautiful girl before, but yet none of them had ever gotten a single reaction out from me. I'd always thought that humans just weren't for me, that my body was designed to only care and be attracted to people of my own kind. But all of that changed the moment this woman showed up. In fact, I should be worried that I felt more of a spark with her than I'd ever felt with my own kind. . . With my own girlfriend.  Was it even a spark? I was yet to find out what exactly it was that I was feeling. "I'm sorry you got mixed up in all of this." She apologized, her soft voice paralyzing me. I closed my eyes for a quick second, her sweet scent overpowering me. When I opened them back, I knew that I couldn't let this go on. I only had one mission, I only had one goal and that was to get back home. I wouldn't let anything or anyone stop that. "It's okay, I would have done it for anyone that needed my help." I lied. I could feel her disappointment at my response as she twisted uncomfortably in the seat. I wouldn't let her reactions affect me. . . Not now. Not ever. .............................................…. ~CIANNA~ I stood completely still. Chase and I had just gotten home from my depressing visit to my ex-boyfriend's apartment, only to find out that we were no longer moving in after the wedding but instead from tonight. This news was nerve wrecking for me. I didn't know how to react around Chase or the people that he knew. I needed that extra time to wrap my mind around everything especially the fact that my boyfriend and best friend were screwing around my back. This was all happening way too fast for me. It was like everything in my life was changing and I wasn't being given a chance to adapt to any of it. "Chase can take you shopping today," John informed me, breaking through my thoughts. "You'll need something to wear for the wedding as well as some new clothes for your room here." I wasn't sure I wanted to go anywhere with him again. I'd already been humiliated in front of him earlier today and I had also gotten him involved in my own troubles.  What would he think? He probably thought that it was expected that someone like me would get cheated on. I mean I was nothing like his gorgeous girlfriend. I was absolutely sure he was also used to beautiful women throwing themselves at him all the time. "That's such a great idea!" My mother chimed happily. "I've always wanted Cianna to have a shopping spree but could never afford it." "Wait, are you implying that John will be paying for the entire thing?" I asked in horror. "I won't allow that." I never liked taking things from others, it always left me with a guilty feeling inside. "Well technically Chase will be paying the bill," he cut in. "Cianna please don't refuse this, this is my wedding gift to your mother. You should know that money is not a problem for us so don't feel like it's a burden on us to give you presents." I wanted to say no but I couldn't with the way my mother was looking at me. I also didn't want to be seen looking like a homeless person on the day of the wedding. I understood that many rich and elite groups would be present on that day. I suddenly felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up and immediately knew that Chase had joined us. My reaction to him totally surprised me. I shouldn't be able to feel like this for someone I'd only met in one day even if it was an incredibly hot billionaire. "I'll do it." He said before John could ask him to take me. How long had he been listening in on the conversation?  "Great, that's settled then." John said. "Now you kids go have fun." I wasn't sure whether or not fun was the right word for this scenario. I awkwardly followed Chase outside to the car, neither one of us saying a word. It was only halfway through the ride did I hear him speak and that was only because his phone had rung. "Hey." He answered, his eyes glued on the road. I could hear shouting on the other end, it sounded just like Haisley. She was no doubt pissed about something.  "Haisley can you calm down." I heard him say. "It's just to get some new outfits for the wedding, that's all."  I understood now. She'd most likely just found out that he was taking me shopping.  Well this ought to be interesting. . .
