Heath's POV.
"Heath, you are back ag........ Who is that and what happened to her?" Amanda questioned referring to the unconscious body of Liana in my arms.
"I don't know, I found her in the rain!" I shouted over the noise of the rain. It seemed the rain has increased its intensity filling our ears with its noise.
"Come, bring her here, we need to strip off her wet clothes and make her warm." She called out urging me to bring her to the guest room downstairs. I took her there and laid her on the bed.
"What? Why are you moving your eyes like that?" I asked her. She was trying to tell me something and to her, I should know what it is.
"Get out, I need to strip her clothes." She said causing me to roll my eyes at her.
"It's not like I have not seen a naked woman before. I see them every day." I said sarcastically.
"Whatever, but I am not allowing you to see this one. Now get out you manwhore" She playfully threw a small pillow at me in a quest to make me leave the room.
"I am not leaving because you said so, but because I respect her. I am going to call the doctor." I exited the room while simultaneously scrolling down my contact to find doctor Martins'. Once I found it, I tapped it, waiting patiently for him to pick up.
"Hello" I heard his cheerful deep voice call out at the other side of the call.
"Hello Andrew, it's me, Heath. I need your help right now."
"Right now? What sort of help?
"I am at my sister's house and there is an emergency: an unconscious lady"
"But Mr. Miller it is raining how am I going to possibly come over?. I can't even go to the next block much more your sister's."
"I know but It is urgent an........"
"Heath! Heath! she is shaking, she is shaking."
Amanda screamed from the guest room and I ran in to see that she was indeed shaking profusely. Amanda held a panicked countenance and she looked like she will be crying any moment from now.
"Listen Andrew, I don't know what you will do but get here right now. If anything happens to her I will never forgive you!" I bellowed into the phone.
"Relax Heath, I will see what I can do. But please do this for me. Kindly soak a towel in warm water and gently massage her body with it. that will help with the cold until I get there. I will be there in twenty. He said then hanged up."
"Let me go and make the warm water." Amanda said. She exited the room and returned moments later with a bowl of lukewarm water and a black towel. I was holding Liana's right hand and her shivering has reduced.
"Here let me do it." I moved from where I was standing to give her access and the space to do what the doctor asked. Fortunately, after minutes of her cleaning her with the lukewarm water, she stopped shivering and we covered her with a thick blanket.
"This should do brother, now wipe that worried look on your face. She will be fine." Look who is telling me this. Moments earlier, she looked like she will pee in her pants now she is acting brave telling me not to worry.
"I can't help it, Mandy. Where was she going and what was she doing in the rain?" I asked, my mind still trying to understand her actions. I mean who walks in heavy rain like that?
"Do you know her?"
"I do. She works at the club La Casablanca."
"I was least expecting that brother. Thought she meant more to you. But that explains your panic."
"That is funny mandy. We were both panicked. "
"I know but yours is different. I have never seen you so worried about anyone much more a girl. I think you like this one."
"That's laughable dear sister, I don't. I am just her boss and nothing more. Moreover, she is not the type of girl I will go in for."
We watched her as she lay on the bed, only her slow breathing was what was assuring us that she is alive.
Mandy kept quiet, seemingly lost in her thoughts
******
"She is alright, but she is too stressed and that is not good for the baby. She might harm it if she doesn't relax."
"Baby?!" Amanda and I both exclaimed simultaneously.
"Yeah, didn't you know? Aren't you her boyfriend?" Doctor Martins asked pushing his spectacle down unto his nose.
"No not that. I am her fiancé. Sorry, I forgot that we are expecting."
"Oh, that's a delicate matter you should never ignore. Right now she needs you and all the support you can give her. Make sure she takes enough rest and doesn't do anything hectic or carry anything heavy. This stage of her pregnancy is very delicate and mustn't be joked with. Is she having morning sickness?"
"Huh?" I asked confused as to what morning sickness is. my sister was standing there dumbfounded about what was going on.
"Is she vomiting or having headaches whatsoever?"
"Hmm, I guess so."
"Okay, no problem. Get her these medications and vitamins. It will help with the morning sickness. And also make sure she eats healthily." He handed me the prescription and I gestured Amanda to escort him out.
The rain has stopped but it was still cloudy. The faint colors of a rainbow could be seen.
"Fiancé really?" Amanda asked, she was leaning by the door frame with her legs crossed and her arms folded over her chest.
"I wanted to know more information from him duh. You know he wouldn't have told me if he knew I am not related to her in any way."
"Hmm, that wasn't a bad idea. It would have been great if was real though. I would have been happy for you."
"Oh mandy, you never cease to be you. I don't need a woman and certainly not a baby. Now I'm heading out to get her medication before it starts raining again."
"Ah........" she opened her mouth but no words came out. I left her, trusting her to take care of Liana until I get back from the pharmacy.
Third Person POV
This was the fourth pharmacy he was walking into, after being told by the other three he has gone to that the medication he was looking for has run out of stock. He was sweaty, panting for breath after spending an hour driving to and fro. He prayed that he would get them here but his hope died down when yet again he was told the same words.
"Sorry, sir, we have run out of stock but we are certain we will get it by next week." He sighed heavily, pondering over whether to try a fifth one or just give up.
"No, I can't give up. Liana needs these medicines to survive." He told himself thinking if he doesn't get them, she will die. Without any time wastage, he dashed off into his car and drove to a fifth pharmacy, which was a thirty minutes drive from the fourth one.
If anyone would have told him that as rich as he is, he will be running like this just for a girl, he wouldn't have believed it. Yet here he was, working himself up for Liana. It even baffled him.
"What is happening to you Heath? You are not like this."
He asked himself finding it funny how a girl could make him this way just after a few weeks of knowing her.
No, he is not in love with her, he assured himself. He just pities her. The first day at work, he got to know that she is a very poor girl whose poverty reflects in her dressing. That was one reason why he took her out to shop. He knew Martina would give her that revealing dress and wanted to use that to get her new clothes without offending her. She also reminded him of his past. A past whose scars he hasn't been able to heal from yet.
"Yes sir, we have them. You are lucky, for the first one, we have only two left but for the rest, we have them in excess."
The female Pharmacist's voice brought him out of his thoughts on time before he could reminiscence about his past. "That's cool. I will have the two and four strips of the rest."
"Okay please take a seat whiles I get them for you."
"He took a seat at one of the benches and his eyes on their own accord wandered to the flat-screen TV. Coincidentally, his best friend, Pharrell's pictures were flashing on it whiles the host of the show was giving a brief introduction of her guest. It was a teen and young adult program called the youth circle. He watched on as Pharrell, ran from the backstage to join the host, flashing his million-dollar smile that always wins the girls."Pharrell will always be Pharrell. The lady's man." He muttered watching how the young girls in the audience were having this daydreaming look on their faces.
"Here sir, it's $850."He walked to the counter and handed her his credit card, checked the medicines then exited after he took back his card.
"You have to wait for my brother to come before you can leave. He should be here any moment from now."
He heard Amanda saying while he stood behind the closed door of the room Liana was in.
"I don't know who your brother is but please, don't let me be a burden on you. I can go home. Thank you very much for taking care of me."
She stubbornly made an attempt to get up but she collapsed onto the bed again since her legs were too weak to support her.
"You are not a burden dear. I am glad we are able to help. Let me bring you something to eat. She stood up to go to the kitchen simultaneously when Heath placed a gentle knock on the door before entering.
"YOU!"
