It’s been a whole week since the attack and the pack has been working hard to rebuild everything we lost. The explosion took a massive part of the wall down so the repair has been slow.
Apollo organised for a semi truck full of supplies to be sent in from Port Douglas, driven by a wolf. The supplies should last long enough to be able to survive while the crops begin to rejuvenate.
I’m lost in my thoughts while collecting eggs in the chicken coop when a little girl walks in. Her big brown eyes bug out of her skull.
“I’m so sorry Alpha.” She drops to her knees and bows, her nose is almost touching the ground.
I pull her up and off the dirty floor. “You have nothing to apologise for. What is your name?”
“Maisie.” She whispers nervously.
“Would you like to help me collect the eggs Maisie?”
Her eyes grow wide again. “Oh, can I? Thank you!” She jumps up and down in excitement before scurrying off into a corner. She seems like a good kid.
I hold the basket of eggs while watching her run back and forth, softly placing fresh eggs inside. “How old are you?”
“I’m six.” She answers confidently.
I move closer to the section she’s collecting from and place the basket on the ground between us. I sit down in the hay, a chicken clucks at me angrily making Maisie laugh as I shield my face from the chicken.
“Do your parents know where you are?” I ask worriedly.
She’s quiet for a moment before answering me in a sad voice. “My parents died in the attack.”
Shit. “I’m so sorry Maisie. I’m sure they were very brave and the pack will never forget that they fought to save us all. If there is anything you ever need, you can ask me or Luna Athena.”
She looks at me with watery eyes. “She’s so beautiful.”
I chuckle. “Yeah she is, isn’t she? I’m a lucky man.”
“Why?” Her curiosity is adorable.
“Because I get to cuddle with the most beautiful queen in the entire kingdom.”
“Can I have my own beautiful queen one day?”
I like this kid. “Yeah, I’ll make sure you can have whatever you want.”
She moves her little hand closer to mine and she grips onto it tightly, forcing me to jerk my head in her direction.
“Even if I want a girl instead of a boy?” She asks sadly.
“Especially if you want a girl. Is there someone that you like?”
She shuffles the hay around anxiously at her feet. “Yeah but she doesn’t like me.”
“How do you know that? Did you ask her?”
“No way! I can’t ask her!” She shrieks loudly.
“I’ll tell you what, you ask her and I’ll get the kitchen wolves to make you an extra special dessert tonight.” I suggest to her.
“Really? You’d do that for me?” Her eyes wide with hope.
“I can do anything, I’m going to be Alpha remember.” I wink at her.
She giggles and jumps to her feet. “I’m going to go find Lily.”
Maisie runs out of the coop, leaving me all alone to finish the task of collecting all the eggs. I stand to my feet and sigh, looking around at the daunting task.
“Why is this damn coop so big?”
“Because there are a thousand wolves to feed.” My mates voice startles me from behind. I whip around to see her leaning against the door frame, a subtle smirk on her lips.
“How long have you been there?”
“Hmm … long enough.” She saunters towards me and wraps her arms around my waist. “You were great with Maisie.”
I grimace with embarrassment. “Thanks. I just think that everyone deserves a chance to be with the one they love, no matter their gender.”
“Is that so, Mr ‘I can do anything’?” She pushes me down to the floor and begins to unzip my jeans. Her hands find their way inside and I stop her abruptly.
“Athena, we can’t do this here!” I scold her through gritted teeth.
“Yes we can. You’re the Alpha, remember?” She winks at me and before I can stop her, her lips are around the head of my d**k.
I guess she’s right and who am I to argue with the Luna Queen?
