Chapter 30

1156 Words
Athena After our little morning delight in the chicken coop, I called an emergency meeting in the conference room. Apollo and Violet arrive first, both of them smiling happily at each other. They have been inseparable ever since they met and I couldn’t be happier for my dear cousin. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was already pregnant considering they can never keep their hands off each other. Eliza arrives next with Oliver hot on her heels. It takes me a little by surprise when they sit unusually close to each other. I brush it off, that’s a thought for another time. “Thank you all for coming at short notice. I believe we need to come up with a plan or a strategy of how we can be prepared for whatever this pack of rouges is going to throw at us next. We need to be ready and we can’t risk any more lives.” I tell them all. Oliver clears his throat. “We haven’t been able to get any information from the two prisoners. They will keep their secrets until they die.” “You should execute them then.” Violet blurts out coldly. “Wow baby … ahh that’s a little extreme, isn’t it?” Apollo forces a laugh and rubs her back, as if she was only kidding. “I’m being serious. If they won’t be forthcoming with information then stop waisting resources on them. They are a waste of space.” She might as well have spat on their graves. “We aren’t murderers.” Emmet argues. “She’s right though. What if they escape and harm more innocent lives?” Eliza interjects. Oliver looks taken aback. “You want to sentence two wolves to their deaths?” Eliza flips her long black hair over her shoulder and leans forward addressing the whole table. “They came here with the intent of harming as many wolves as possible and destroying everything in their path. If you’re too p***y to kill them then give me the damn knife and I’ll slit their throats myself!” “I can’t let you do that!” Oliver grips her forearm forcefully and she glares at him. “Let her?” Emmet shoots an angry look at Oliver and he immediately removes his hand. “I think things are getting a little heated in here. Let’s not worry about the prisoners right this second.” I try to calm the situation down before someone says something they’ll regret. “Aren’t you supposed to have a whole kingdom at your mercy? Call in some reinforcements and destroy all the rogues when they come back to finish the job.” Eliza strategises. “We can’t exactly march an entire army through the gates. What if they have spies watching us? They will never attack and I’m sure we all want this over sooner rather than later.” Apollo counters. I vaguely remember the conversation I had years ago with my father about using something only in emergencies. Bickering erupts around the table and I grip my temples in annoyance. “SHUT UP!” I yell angrily and they all stare at me in shock. “I can’t hear myself think.” An awkward silence falls throughout the room and I wonder if I should be telling them about what I am about to say. I look at each other them, one by one, and realise that I trust them all with my life. Even Violet, which is odd considering I’ve only known her for a week. I place my palms on the table and stand to my feet. Leaning forward, I address them all. “Now what I am about to tell you does not leave this room, is that clear?” They all nod their heads jerkily in agreement. “My father once told me about a secret passage which is only to be used in an extreme emergency. The passage leads from inside the pack to outside of the boundary walls.” “What’s the catch?” Apollo asks. I shrug. “ I don’t know where it is.” “How can you not know where it is? Surely there’s blueprints somewhere for this kind of thing.” Eliza says exasperated. “And have someone stumble across it by accident and reveal to our enemies that there’s a secret way inside the pack that no one knows about? I highly doubt that.” Emmet argues with his sister. “Look, all I know is that it’s another bunker with a passage. So it’s got to have a pretty big opening to allow people to climb inside.” I explain. “The only thing wrong with this plan is that you’ll be revealing the outside entrance location to your allies. Are you okay with that?” Violet queries. She seems like the only level headed wolf in the room. “It’s a sacrifice we are going to have to make.” I confirm. “Looks like we’re all on search duty tonight. Do you have any metal detectors?” Emmet asks and Eliza smacks him over the back of the head. “We’ll pair up tonight and begin our search in the woods in wolf form. I highly doubt that another hidden bunker will be anywhere near the pack house.” I instruct my most trusted friends. “Yes Luna.” They all say in unison and begin to leave. Emmet hangs back. Once they are all gone, I turn to Emmet. “Something is going on between Eliza and Oliver.” I say cautiously so as not to anger him. “What do you mean?” He replies through gritted teeth. “It’s just an observation. Do you want me to suss it out? You’ll act like a caveman if you confront either of them.” He huffs in annoyance. “Yeah whatever. So are we partnering up tonight?” He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me closer to breathe in my scent. “No way. There’s no telling what our wolves will get up to. This is a mission, not play time.” “But it’s free play once the search is over, right?” He nips my ear lobe with his teeth. “You can never keep it in your pants, can you?” I tease him by pushing my chest into him. “Not when I’m around you Athena.” He captures my lips with his and he laps at my tongue with strong strokes, turning me on right in the middle of the conference room. Before things progress any further, he smacks my ass and uses his speed to disappear from the room. I catch my breath quickly and yell after him. “That’s not fair play!” All I can hear is him laughing down the corridor. I’ll get my pay back, you just wait and see!
