Chapter 22

1162 Words
Two weeks later Eliza The past two weeks have been pretty full on. Between training every morning, shadowing Apollo, going to classes on weekdays and working in the farm lands on weekends, I’m running out of steam. Over working myself isn’t a good idea but it keeps me busy. I’ve been avoiding my parents as much as possible. Their betrayal still stings my heart when I think about everything they’ve done. Alpha King Cameron’s funeral was really sad. It seems the pack members really loved him as every single wolf showed up. I have to admire Athena. She spoke beautifully about her father and all the memories they shared. The only dry eye at the entire funeral was Athena’s. I wish I could be as strong as her. Immediately after the funeral, Athena was crowned Luna Queen. She looked gorgeous in a plain white silk slip dress with her beautiful fiery red hair in stark contrast. The white gold crown that Elder Jonah placed on her head was exquisite. She was the epitome of royalty and elegance. Truely stunning. As I sit beside the blood river and reminisce about recent events, I can’t help but feel sad and lonely. I haven’t made a single friend since moving here and I am starting to regret my decision. I left my friends, my school and my job to come here. I can’t exactly call anyone from my past life and act like nothing has happened. A rustle of leaves sounds to my left and I don’t need werewolf hearing to know that someone is coming closer. “Who’s there?” I call out in warning. A huge brown wolf with green eyes emerges from the trees and pauses for a moment, watching me intently. He comes closer before shifting back into a very, very naked man. I avert my gaze back to the river as he plops his bare ass down next to me. “What are you doing here?” He asks in his husky tone. “Trying to get some peace and quiet. Thanks for ruining it by the way.” I joke with him and attempt to subtly wipe my tears away. His hand cups my cheek gently, turning me to face him, his forest green eyes drawing me in. “What’s wrong?” “Nothing Oliver, I’m fine.” I try to brush him off. I don’t need his pity. “You don’t need to lie to me Eliza. We’re friends, aren’t we?” I scoff. “Barely!” He has the audacity to look hurt and drops his hand. “Is there anything I can do to help you feel better?” “Actually there is one thing. Can you train me, like one on one? I don’t like being a wolf-less, defenceless little girl.” He ponders my question for a moment. “I don’t think that’s such a good idea.” “I’m going to be the Gamma, I need to be the best. How can I defend my Alpha and Luna if I don’t know how to fight?” I demand of him. “You don’t!” I huff. “Why not?” “You don’t even have your wolf yet. You’re still a child and I won’t risk anything happening to you!” He jumps to his feet and tries to walk away from me. I follow him in anger and take the opportunity to admire that perfect naked ass before gripping his forearm to turn him back towards me. He hisses like a cat, acting as if I burned him with my touch. “Don’t you dare call me a child!” I seethe in his face. “Why are you acting protective of me all of a sudden?” “I can’t tell you.” This. f*****g. Guy. “Tell me now before I rip your f*****g balls off!” I threaten him. “You want to know? Fine! We’re mates Eliza. You’re my mate.” “Ew you’re like fifty years old! Besides, how could you possibly know that? How long have you kept this from me?” “I don’t know why but I can feel it in my bones. Every time you touch me, I feel the tingles zipping through my body.” He explains. “I’ve never touched you until now in all the years we’ve known each other.” I argue. This is insanity. “Until the meeting. You barged in all flustered and brushed against my arm when you sat down. My wolf called out for you and your wolf immediately.” “What’s his name? Your wolf.” I desperately need to know. “Harrick.” He whispers as his eyes flicker black then back to green. “I can’t feel my wolf yet. Does he know her name?” “Skyler. Just as beautiful as you are.” I feel drawn to him like a magnet. I can’t explain it but I need to be close to him. I need him. My arms seek him out and he pulls me to his naked torso. He looks down into my eyes and all I can wish for is for him to kiss me right now. “Is it possible to get your wolf before eighteen?” I ask desperately. “I’ve never heard of it happening before but maybe if we train hard enough, it could be possible.” Oliver ponders. I smile. “So you agree then?” He smirks back. “If it gives me more time to get to know you even better then I’m all in.” “What do you already know?” “Your birthday is on Christmas Eve, you love watching The Vampire Diaries, your favourite colour is pink and you’re a chocoholic.” He rattles off. “Wow, stalker much?” I tease him. “I’m your brother’s best friend. You tend to notice these things.” He rolls his eyes. “Speaking of Emmet, can we keep this between us for now? I think he might freak out a little.” “You mean like you did?” He laughs. “I did not!” I smack his chest. “Oliver, can you please kiss me now?” “I can’t.” He pulls away from me slightly. “Why not?” I ask, deflated. “It wouldn’t feel right until you get your wolf.” “Oh. I understand.” “We’ll work really hard so we don’t have to wait two more years for Skyler. Now come on, Harrick wants to give you a ride back to the pack house.” He shifts into his brown wolf and Harrick lowers himself to the ground. I climb onto his back and hold onto his soft fur. He breaks out into a run and I hold on for dear life while laughing my head off. Today turned out to be a pretty good day after all!
