Emmet
Ever since Athena and I marked and mated each other, we’ve been inseparable. We can’t get enough of each other. Who knew having s*x with your mate could be so addictive?
We moved into the Alpha suite shortly after Athena became Luna. It has been hard for her without her father and living inside a place her father occupied for so long is difficult for her. We want to redecorate to make the space our own but with the pack on lockdown, it’s been a rough few weeks.
I’m about to sit down for lunch with Eliza when a sharp pain rips through my stomach. Our mate bond is stronger than ever so I know something is terribly wrong. My plate of food drops to the floor and smashes as I grip onto my stomach.
Apollo comes rushing into the dining hall and runs straight over to me. “It’s Athena. She needs you right now.”
“What’s wrong with her?” I groan.
“She’s in heat.” He explains via mind link.
“Take me to her!” I demand.
He helps me up the grand staircase and into the elevators. It’s the longest ride up to the fifth floor ever! When we finally arrive at the Alpha suite, he leaves me at the door muttering about ‘not wanting to think about his cousin in this way’.
I rush inside to find my beautiful mate twisted in the damp bed sheets, her hair plastered to her face with sweat. She’s groaning in pain unable to move.
“What do you need? What can I do to fix this?” I ask hurriedly.
“Hurry up … and mate … with me!” She pants out in pain.
I pull her to the edge of the bed and instantly bury myself deep inside her. I pound into her as hard and fast as I can to try and ease her pain. It doesn’t take me long to get to breaking point with the sight of my incredible mate beneath me.
She squirms and groans and just as we are about to reach our c****x, an incredibly loud noise sounds in the distance.
“Don’t … you dare … stop!” Athena growls at me.
I continue at the same pace and within seconds I’m emptying my seed inside of her.
“We’re under attack! Everyone unable to fight needs to get to the bunker immediately!”Apollo mind links the entire pack as the sound of a loud siren echoes through the pack house.
“Well this is impeccable timing.” I run a hand down my face while pulling out of Athena. She rolls to the side and falls onto the floor. I rush over to her and help her stand up. “What the hell do you think you are you doing?”
“I need … to help … the pack.” She mutters while trying to dress herself. She is so weak, she can hardly lift a finger.
“Over my dead body! You can’t fight in your state, you’ll get yourself killed.” I argue with her.
“I can’t … do nothing!”
“You don’t have a choice. I’m not losing you today.” I shove her shirt over her head and help her into her shorts. “Where is the bunker? I’m taking you there and then I’ll go help the pack.”
I scoop her up into my arms and dash for the elevators. We reach level one and I take the stairs two at a time. Athena directs me towards the Alpha’s office then points to a hidden passageway. There are stair leading down in a spiral. I hurry down the stairs and bang on the door.
“It’s Emmet, please open the door.” I shout.
The door unlocks and Eliza’s scared face looks back at me. I usher Athena inside and look around. The bunker is filled with woman and children unable to fight.
“Is this everyone?” I ask loudly.
“I think so Alpha.” A terrified woman replies.
“You lock this door behind me and don’t open it until I return. Take care of Athena, she’s in heat.” I demand before dashing back up the stairs, the door slamming behind me.
I bound out of the pack house and see a cloud of black smoke billowing from the direction of the gates. My first instinct is to run over there but I need to find out what’s going on first.
“Apollo, what’s going on?” I mind link him.
“Rogues blew up the gate. They’re attacking anyone they come across.” He replies instantly.
“Where are you?” I demand.
“Crop fields!” He yells back in my mind.
I immediately shift into Zeus and he runs as fast as he can. I let him take the lead on this one. A dull burn forms in my stomach but I ignore it for now.
Once we reach the fields, the overpowering smell of rogues hits my nostrils. Zeus snarls as a ratty looking wolf charges towards us. Zeus dodges out of the way and swipes his claws at the rogues throat, ripping it open with a shower of blood.
I spot Apollo’s wolf Levi a short distance away, his golden eyes meeting mine before returning to his attacker. Zeus fights his way over to the Beta wolf, slashing and biting anything that stinks.
“How’s Athena?” Apollo asks in my mind.
“Not good.” I admit.
Levi takes down three rogues at once and Zeus follows his lead, battling side by side, assisting our army of wolves fighting to protect what’s ours.
“We can’t kill them all. We need to keep at least one of them alive to question their motives.” I mind link Apollo.
“You’re right, I’ll tell Oliver to capture some and take them to the dungeons.” He links back.
Glad that he delegated that task to others, I focus my attention back to the fight surrounding us. Zeus has taken down many rogue wolves but more keep coming. How can there be so many?
The putrid smell of burning hair floods my senses, momentarily distracting me from the fight before me. That split second distraction is all it takes for a rogue to s***h at Zeus’ stomach, making him fall to his knees.
