Eli’s POV

What the hell is going on - how could this be possible? I find out Ree is my mate, which I’m ecstatic about, and then find out she’s mated to another alpha too - and Hunter to be exact. Ugh how are we going to get out of this? I can handle Hunter - even though he’s only the most ruthless Alpha in the area - I’m also an Alpha and he doesn’t scare me. But Ree?? Sweet little Ree doesn’t deserve this - Hunter is known for being a player with the she-wolves in his pack. He doesn’t play by the rules and he always gets what he wants.

We are walking back to the backyard to begin my swearing in ceremony to take over the pack. I was hoping to announce Reese as my Luna, but I think we may need to talk about things further in details before I do that. Ree - I need to talk to you about Hunter. Please don’t make any rushed decisions on this. I was planning on announcing you to the pack as my Luna, but I think we should hold off on that at least until we sort all of this out - what do you think?

I won’t make any decisions on this - I’m as confused as you are. Yeah, I think that’s a good idea to wait. At least until we figure out what we are doing. She responds over mind link. Good - we are on the same page. All I know is I can’t lose Reese over this. She’s perfect for me and for the pack Luna. I can’t believe I never realized how perfect she is and how damn gorgeous she is. I can’t wait to mark her as mine.

We make our way to the stage. My dad’s booming voice reminds me why we are here - the swearing in ceremony. “Welcome, family and friends. Pack members. Friends from our neighboring packs. I’ve invited you all here today to witness me stepping down as Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. My son Elijah has been preparing for this roll all of his life, and I couldn’t be prouder of the man he’s become. I know he will be a wonderful leader, strong alpha and will continue to lead this pack to a successful, happy life.” Just as he is finishing his speech, Elder Jasper and two other elders bring out a golden dagger and cup covered in ancient stones and relics. My dad holds the dagger in one hand and the other hand is placed over the cup. “I, Alpha Ezekiel Briggs, step down as Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. I transfer over my power to Alpha Elijah Briggs.” He makes a cut over his palm and drops the blood into the golden cup. He then hands me the dagger to complete the ceremony. “I, Alpha Elijah Briggs, accept the role as Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. I promise to protect the pack to the last of my days.” I make a cut in the palm of my hand and squeeze my hand, dripping blood into the golden cup. Elder Jasper steps forward and raises the cup, the pack is cheering and hollering. He hands me the cup to take a drink out of. Just as I finish, I feel a rush of power and I’m suddenly connected with the entire pack. I can feel all of the emotions - everyone is beyond excited to welcome me as their new alpha. “Blood Moon Pack, welcome your new alpha, Alpha Elijah!”
