Chapter 14Thad held his breath as Sandy stepped over the line of the circle. It worked. He’d feared he wouldn’t be able to cross it, but he did. Two steps outside the line, Sandy disappeared. He was there one second and gone the next. Had it been the same thing with Grim? He hadn’t watched him leave. Stupid. Slumping down, he allowed a painful moan now when Sandy wasn’t there to watch him. He’d never make it out of here. He didn’t fear dying, not really, but he’d seen the morgue files of the women turned into angels, and there were so many cuts, so much suffering.
