Chapter 13Thad squeezed his eyes shut before opening them. The pain shooting through his skull made him hold his breath and grit his teeth. He remembered having woken before, several times before, but he couldn’t remember where he was. “You’re awake?” Sandy was whispering. Thaddeus winced as daylight pierced his eyes. Had he slept through the night? With a hiss, he turned his head so he could see Sandy. “What time is it?” Everything hurt. Why did everything hurt? He raised his hand to touch the back of his head, but couldn’t.
