(Astrid POV)
“I’m sorry Madam but you cannot enter here. This is for the high-class people and most are reserved” a woman in her high-quality waitress dress said as I sighed.
Well, she can’t be blamed. I didn’t look like a person fit to come here also.
I am wearing an oversized brown hoodie and blue jeans. Hell, my face is bandaged and bruised!
I must clearly look like a street thug or something.
“What is going on here?” Elliot’s voice rose from behind.
“Oh, Mr. Sanders! Welcome back! I’m sorry but this girl came in accidentally. I will send her bac…” the waitress starts to say but was stopped.
“Did she disrespect you, princess?” he asked me completely ignoring the other women.
“Ahh umm... no... Nothing happened” I said as I moved back from him shocked and blushing.
Shit! I still have feelings for him. My heart just skipped a beat.
“Show us to a table,” he said as the waitress immediately nodded and took us inside.
He took us to the table with a card- 'RESERVED- Kyle Sanders'
“I’m sorry about earlier, Ma'am. I didn’t know you were accompanied by him. As a compensation I would like to offer free champagne” the waitress said professionally as he nodded.
“Yes. Your finest champagne.” He replied before shooing the waitress away.
“Yes Mr. Sanders” she mumbled before walking away
“Why are you using your uncle’s family name?” I asked confused at his identity.
“I’m dead in other’s eyes. To keep it a secret I needed a new identity but still stay with my family” he said as I sighed.
“Of course,” I said rolling my eyes and looking away.
The waitress came back with our champagne and took our orders. I glared at him as he dismissed the waitress when she turned to take my order.
“What? You told you’re not hungry” that asshole said and I was so close to taking the cutlery knife and stabbing him.
The waitress although was shocked nodded and walked away.
“You are the one who said you’re not hungry you know. It’s your fault, so stop pouting” he said as I sighed and looked away.
“I’m not pouting. I don’t want your food” I said stubbornly but my stomach was begging for food. I’m just glad it hasn’t made any noise.
“Your food preference changed,” I said as he raised an eyebrow at me.
“Excuse me?” he asked.
“You hated coming to such a high star restaurant. I remember you loved street food because of how unique and ethic free it is” I said stressing on the word ethic.
When we date he used to be so joyful. He loved street food and our date consisted of street food and drive-in cinemas. He used to complain about how stupid the so-called ethics of a high-class restaurant was.
“People change” was his only reply as I sighed.
“Indeed. People change” I said as I looked out the glass window.
It was silent after that. I could feel him looking at me but I still ignored him.
Food came and I stared at the tasty steak laid in front of him.
“Do you want?” he smirked as I glared at him.
“I don’t want anything,” I said looking away.
“It's for you,” he said as he pushed it to me.
I looked at him in shock but he just shrugged as he placed everything in front of me. His face was void of any emotion but his eyes told a different tale.
They held different emotions that were hard to decipher.
I know I was throwing my pride out the window but I was so damn hungry.
“Thank you” I mumbled before I dug in.
The juice of the steak filled my mouth and I moan at the taste. Best steak ever.
“Don’t you want anything?” I asked, halfway through my steak.
“I’m not hungry,” he said as I looked at him confused.
“But you told me you were hungry,” I said as he smiled at me.
A real genuine smile. For a moment my heart beat faster as I felt like seeing the old him.
“Are you concerned about my health, princess?” he asked as I blushed and looked at the steak.
“I know you haven’t eaten anything. I can’t let you go hungry” he said as my eyes widen.
“How did you know that?” I asked confused as he smirks.
“No” I suddenly said raising my hand. “Don’t tell me. I know.” I said as he looked at me amused.
“Oh really?” he asked as I sighed and nodded.
“You stalked me didn’t ya?” I asked as he laughed.
“Yes,” he gave a simple response.
“You seem to be proud of it,” I said as he shrugged.
“Do you want anything else to eat?” he asked as I shook my head finishing the last piece.
“No I’m full,” I said as he smiled and nodded.
“Then shall we go?” he asked as I smiled and nodded.
“Ok”.
