Chapter 4

Rebecca. I woke up to the sound of beeping machines and IVs digging deep into my veins. The pungent smell of bleach filled the air and I needed no one to tell me that I was in a hospital but how I got here was something I did not remember. The last thing I remembered was feeling dizzy back at the restaurant. “Good morning ma'am, how are you feeling,” a young beautiful friendly nurse asked me. “I am fine,” I replied while attempting to get up from the bed. But the nurse quickly rushed to my side to stop me from sitting up. “Sorry ma, please be careful, you might hurt yourself or the baby,” she said. The moment she mentioned my baby, my hand instinctively went to my stomach as if trying to see if it was still there. The nurse notices this and smiles. “Your baby is in perfect health condition,” she said calmly. “Thanks,” I mumbled, just when I was about to ask how I got to the hospital, the door opened. Sebastian walked in looking more handsome than I remembered him to be. Sebastian Klein was one of those men you'd like to admire from afar due to his Greek god-like body but wouldn't want to go close for fear of not having your heart broken. He was very tall, broad-shouldered, and had that appearance that would make him stand out in any crowd. His grey eyes were as deep and expressive, that you could get lost if you stared long enough. He had a strong aura that hovers around him, making even the most innocent girls imagine him in the nastiest way. For a moment, I was almost going to think that last night did not happen and that I had only imagined him. But seeing him again reminded me of the fact that last night did happen but what I couldn't understand was why he made it look like I was with him when I was not. Was he trying to get me in trouble with Rowland and how the hell will I ever defend myself again? Rowland is going to probably think that I was a cheat like himself and Sebastian just made sure he had the proof he needed. The truth was if I was running from Rowland, Sebastian wouldn't be on my top hundred list of people to run. Don't get me wrong, Sebastian is super wealthy, so wealthy that he has been featured multiple times on Forbes's top five richest eligible bachelors in the world. Aside from Sebastian's wealth and fame, he is also a notorious Casanova with tons of women at his beck and call. His eyes calmly reached out to mine and I could swear I felt a million butterflies floating in my stomach. Quickly I shifted my gaze to look at the wall beside him which suddenly felt super interesting to gaze upon. “How are you, Miss Rebecca?” The doctor who was now standing by my side asked. “I am feeling better, just a little weak,” I said. “Yeah that is expected, we noticed you hadn't eaten anything when you were brought in last night, which could have resulted in why you felt dizzy and passed out,” the doctor explained. “I would recommend that due to your condition, you eat regularly to provide enough energy for you and your baby,” he added while scribing notes on his pad. “Aside from weakness, are there any other symptoms you would me to know about?” the doctor quizzed. “No,” I answered. “Okay then, the nurse will bring you the list of drugs you need to get from the pharmacy, you are free to go home anytime you are up for it,” he said before turning to Sebastian who shared a handshake with him before walking out with the nurse following closely behind. There was a little bit of silence when the doctor left but it didn't last long. “Thanks for bringing me to the hospital,” I said in an attempt to break the deafening silence between us. “You are welcome,” he said and I could almost tell he was going to say something else but hesitated. “Does he know?” Sebastian asked and for a moment I was confused as to what he meant by his question. “I don't understand,” I answered. “I mean, your ex-husband, does he know that you are carrying his baby?” he asked and at that moment I realized telling him the truth was the only way out. “No. And I intend to keep it that way,” I replied. “He is a fool,” Sebastian said and I lifted my eyes to look him in the eyes as if wanting an explanation. “Only a fool does not know the value of a good woman,” he said. “He was not a fool, rather I was the foolish one, I was the one who refused to see this other side of him and loved him unconditionally. But I am glad I found out sooner than later,” I answered. “I could help you get back to him if you want, I can bring him on his knees for doing wrong to you,” he said and again I looked into his eyes to ascertain if he meant what he was saying. The genuineness in his eyes told me that he meant every word. “And what will be my gain, he has made his decisions and I honestly want to focus on myself and my baby,” I said gently caressing my stomach. “Do you still love him?” he questioned. “I was married to him for five years,” I replied as tears threatened to spill from my eyes I was quick to stop them from spilling, but Sebastian was fast to notice. “He doesn't deserve your tears, if anything you should be happy that you dodged a bullet. Sometimes when people leave us, they create rooms for better people to come in,” he said and I couldn't help but agree with what he had said by slowly nodding my head. “Thank you so much, I truly appreciate you for bringing me to the hospital,” “You are welcome Rebecca,” he said, and there was something about how he called my name. It was almost soothing. “So are you generally this nice, or, I'm just been lucky?” I asked and he smiled, revealing his perfect set of white teeth. “You are a very beautiful woman, you sure deserve every attention you get, I'm sure your ex regrets ever leaving you. I couldn't sit back and listen to them thrash talk you last night, hence the reason I acted as if we were together," he said. “yeah about that, you made it look like I was truly cheating on him,” I said. “You owe him no explanation and moreover, you and I both know the truth,” he said. Even though his words totally made sense, I was still wondering why he had been nice to me. “I am sure we both know that this is super weird,” I said, breaking the awkward silence that lingered in the room. “Which part?” He asked, lifting his eyes to stare at mine. “Everything, I mean, you don't even know me,” I said. “How about we start by introducing ourselves? My name is Sebastian Klein, and I am the CEO of Alpha Luxury Automobile,” he said and paused as if waiting for me to say something. “My name is Rebecca Powers, I am pregnant and divorced,” I said and he smiled again. “Well, nice to meet you, Rebecca pregnant and divorced,” he said teasingly. I couldn't help but chuckle a little. “You smile beautifully, you should do it more often,” he said with a warm smile lighting up his face. “Sorry I have to run now, just so you know I have taken care of the hospital bills, along with your stay at the hotel,” he said. “Now you are doing the most, I mean, come on I can take care of my bills,” I protested. “I know you can, but consider it as a little gift from me to you,” he said, and before I could protest he was out of the door. A faint smile lingered on my face for some time after Sebastian left. Something about him sounds like fun, but that was the same thought I had about Rowland. My mood was getting soured again as my mind drifted to Rowland and his baby mama and I couldn't help but wonder what they were up to. It was hard to believe that Rowland would move on so quickly without me. Thinking of how much commitment I put into our marriage made it all sickening for me. “It's time to go home Rebecca,” I said to myself while slowly letting out a deep sigh.
