Journey to Valyr ZAIRE LEVI's POINT OF VIEW "My lady, are you comfortable?" I glance at Elise and nodded my head. "How about you two? You're not uncomfortable anywhere are you?" Elise although hesitant nodded her head while the elf, she's been shuddering since we changed our clothes into men's wear, a commoner men's wear top with cloak and why are we dressed like this? Well, simply because I wanna cross-dress. It reminds me of those thrilling experiences back on Earth whenever i have to cross-dress so those people hunting me won't find me. Speaking of which, I almost had a girlfriend from cross-dressing! Maybe I'm more attractive as a man than as a woman. Pssh. "Don't worry about her my lady! The elf, I think she's fine!" Elise said in panic. I chuckles inwardly and closed my eyes to meditate. It will take us two days to reach Valyr, we'll have to pass through Sylb which is just hours away from the household and then Yabut. Basing on Jozine’s memory, the Vesaurius might be a small time noble before but as their businesses expands, their influence too grow although natural born nobles looked down on them. I think it’s one of the main reasons that’s why Felicia wants to lick those boots of those renowned nobles, especially the born ones because Vesaurius— although nobles— they’re proclaimed because if their wealth. Seriously, what’s the point? Nobles in birth and achieved, it’s the same. They’re nobles. These people’s hunger for superiority over another makes this world and its era burdensome. Not like I’m not used to it, who doesn’t want money right? Who doesn’t want to have control over wealth and other people’s life? Geez, humans long for that. Even me, i want money! It’s just a matter of reason why. Passing by Sylb, it was uneventful, peaceful even. The incident about the Noyini Guardian too spread like a wildfire in the north and nearby cities, ten hunters died because of the incident but they weren’t able to completely subdue the guardian. This was all according to Amba, who is sleeping beneath my chair after he freaked the elf a while back. “Lady Jozine—” “Ssh!” I shush Blake. “Remember, I’m not Lady Jozine. All of us are males!” I whispered to him. Blake gaped in wonder but nodded his head silently with a slight bow. We are currently in the entrance of Yabut town where the inns are. It would take us another day to reach Valyr village. We’re lucky to reach the town before the night falls because although these towns are peaceful, danger are everywhere. We settled in a small inn with a restaurant beside it and a tea shop on the first and second floor. Elise and I along with the elf are settled in a room with three bed while Blake insisted that he will stay outside and guard. He assured that he has a place to sleep in and not the carriage. I wanted to force him to rent a room but the young man insisted and as his kindhearted and charismatic boss, I let him. My magic base is colored gray— and if I will use the magic energy leveling, I’m in Intermission level. It’s considered kind of strong for my age although in reality, Jozine’s magic base originally is white. Another reason why she’s a prodigy. Well, magic base is leveled from weakest to strongest respectively from Black, Gray, Purple, White and finally, the strongest, Gold. I feel embarrassed that my magic base is gray— the difference between Jozine and I’s magic base is too vast. I don’t want to embarrass her name that’s why I have to get stronger! I now have three reasons to be stronger that’s why I must succeed! I spent the entire night meditating and gathering magic energy around the surroundings to my heart’s content and slept around two AM or so. I’m again sent into the Void of Magic where I tried Classic tier spells for fire and water element. Compared to using it before when I fought the cyclops for the first time where I use the four elements simultaneously, I was able to get the hang of it now but it exhausted me sooner than I expected. Well, it was after all Classic tier spells so I expected it. “My lady!!!” My eyes snapped open. I spent few seconds staring at the ceiling while I feel the ground shaking. What the heck is this again?! “My lady! Monsters are swarming around the town!” Elise frantically reported while the elf is on high alert. I sigh and slowly stood up, Amda— the rat jumped on my side. “Lala~ good morning Master!” I smirked. “What time is it?” I ask him while petting him. I couldn’t see the outside through my groggy eyes. I can hear screaming though while the ground kept shaking. Oh, this is serious. “It’s five in the morning Master. Lalaaa~” Freaking hell. I had three hours sleep?! Just three hours?! “.. the f**k is this..” THIRD PERSON’s POINT OF VIEW The entrance of the town of Yabut where mining is the way people do to make a living, echoes of screams sounded as the people are bitten and killed on the spot. Gone is the sign of the ones peaceful night. It’s as if that peaceful town did not exist. Inns, stores, restaurants and other shops are all ruined, some are even on fire while bodies are laid on the ground. No one knows if these bodies are breathing or not. “We need a protective barrier!” Yelled one of the man fighting the swarms of iron fanged demon wolf. Iron Fanged Demon Wolf as their name entails are wolf with crimson red eyes all with black furs and their fangs are made of iron. They are considered low level monsters, however one cannot say the same when they are not attacking the town in packs! There are hundreds of them, even Advanced level mage or knight may arrive they will have a hard time, what more could these hunters do? “Light of Protection!” A man in his fifties casted. The spell produced a large sphere of golden light protecting the people inside it. Inside, ten hunters are huffing and catching their breath while two of them— both men, one is covered in blue with white cloak and black mask while the other one is wearing tattered clothes, his shirt and jacket showing the signs of sweat and blood— both of them watching their comrades. Fortunately despite the chaos, all twelve of them are alive. How long? “We can’t keep this up, Odalf! This town’s people will all die!” Shouted one of the members of the group, a female hunter with wind attribute. “Why does a portal needs to appear in the middle of this town...?” The light magic attribute hunter, the same man who casted the barrier whispered to himself. Odalf, the leader of this group of hunters, although twenty-three years old and considered young, he’s one of the strongest hunters from the Hunters Association. “Ice, I will take them on along wit the other six, you take the ones on the rear.” He told the mysterious man with long white hair covered in black mask, only his cold blue eyes visible. The man Odalf called Ice glances at him. “Impossible. These wolf will keep on appearing from that portal. The six of you will die if you fight them head on.” “We can’t stay here and let those bastards s*******r the people. You will defend and we will attack.” Ice sighs and watch as the portal remained opened. As long as this portal where these monsters are spawn, numbers of iron fanged demon wolf will continue to increase and it was something that they can’t control. These portal closes on their own for as long as sealing magic is not used and sadly, none of them have attribute in sealing portals. All of them are elemental and light magic user, aside from that, they’re all exhausted. The man named Ice is pondering on what to do closed his eyes abruptly when a glow of golden light blocks the next wave of demon wolf, slowly, the portal closes. ‘Light magic?’ Ice wondered. He was right. A barrier of light magic covered almost twenty of the demon wolf, trapping them inside. Not only that, spikes from the ground inside the barrier suddenly rises stabbing all the wolf inside. Ice’s eyes widen but eventually, he smirks. Members of the group of hunters who witnessed what happened gaped, why not, it happened not just once but thrice, the same spell attacked the small group of demon wolf behind them. Out of nowhere, the ground shakes and from the ground, a large wall rose covering their views from the horde of wolf and where the portal was. The barrier dissipated. The members of the hunter group fell silence as wails and howls of the wolf inside the wall made obviously from earth echoed in their ears. It was loud then it fell silent. The remaining scattered wolves are finished off by Ice. Odalf gave away an order to heal and rescue whoever is still breathing, the members of the group followed without question. The ground shake ones more and slowly, the wall submerged on the ground and when it’s gone, the scene left Odalf with his jaw hanging. He thought that it would be a gruesome scene, he expected the guts for these demon wolf splattered around however, this could be the cleanest demon wolf horde extermination that he witnessed. In front of them are bodies of hundreds and more iron fanged demon wolf laid on the ground with slashes on their neck, hint of blood from the cut. The cut was clean and accurate, when Odalf inspected it, the cuts on their neck almost has the same length and size. ‘Who in this world could...’ “I told you, Blake. It wasn’t that hard to kill them all.” Both Odalf and Ice turns to the source of the female’s voice. In front of them, two people, a man, no, a boy and a lady are walking in Odalf and Ice’s direction, both wearing a mask. The boy is wearing a red full mask while the lady is wearing a mask covering her nose to her eyes, the mask too is colored red and in a shape of a butterfly, aside from that, a red cloth is covering her lower face too, both of them are wearing black cloaks. “I shall learn from my lady.” The young boy slightly bowed while walking. “Oh LOL! You idolize me too much!” Followed that is a small laugh. The two of them seems unaware of their eyes or they’re pretending not to notice. When they’re few feet away from them, the young boy step in front of the lady, facing them. Odalf tried to read both their magic energy and magic base but he found none, there’s a faint magic energy from the boy, however, there is none from the lady. It was then that he knew, this young lady is not ordinary. She is far from ordinary. “My lady, let me handle this.” The young boy said eyeing them. His eyes determined, there’s no hint of being intimidated. “Who are you two?” The kid asks. Odalf turns his attention to the young boy and slightly bowed to show his acknowledgment to him and to his master. “We are hunters from the Hunters Association. I am Odalf Guiron and this is my comrade, Ice. Behind us are another ten members of our group.” He step aside to show them what the members of their groups are doing, what he did not expect is to see another pair of people aiding their group members in helping the people of the town. The lady sighs. “These casualties are greater than I expected.” She said more to herself than them. “You did your best in helping them, young lady. If you did not use your light magic on our way here, these deaths could have been more.” Blake tells his master, Jozine. The latter ruffles his hair softly. “I think so.” Jozine behind her mask scrutinize the men in front of her. They said they were hunters from the Hunters Association. These two’s aura are stronger than the people behind them. “I want to get straight to the point, let’s divide the magic cores and iron fangs of these wolves. Let’s divide it into seventy-thirty.” Odalf, the one who’s not wearing a mask, his eyes slightly widen in surprise. “Is... is that really okay, lady? It was obviously you who killed majority of these monsters.” Odalf is surprise to hear that the lady is willing to divide the magic cores and iron fang. Although this iron fang demon wolf is a low level monster and its magic core is relatively low as well, it’s still a profit since these monsters magic cores will be used to help a practitioner of magic cultivate. Especially those who cannot afford high tier magic cores. Putting the magic cores aside, the iron fangs of these wolf are used as weapons and armors as well. The profit they will gain is big help for the hunters and the association. “Oh, it’s okay for me to keep this all to myself too.” “Ah?” Odalf gape, his shoulder slumped. Well, it was indeed her who killed almost all of these wolf so rightfully, she can keep these monsters. “Joke! You’re too serious. I said it already, seventy for me, thirty for you.” She then claps, “okay then, elf and Blake, it’s now your turn.” In the blink of an eye, the young boy disappears and ten minutes later, he returned along with an elf, also wearing a mask carrying a spatial pouch. “Here, my lady.” The young boy handed the two pouch while the elf is quietly standing on the boy’s side while another person, also wearing a mask walks towards the lady’s left. Odalf realizes that the elf and this person on this lady’s side are the people who aided his group members. ‘To have an elf as follower... truly, this lady is capable!’ His amazement and awe for this lady’s magic power grew even more. “Thanks.” Suddenly, she threw one of the pouch on him. “Inside are magic cores and the iron fangs.” He slightly bowed. “Thank you, young lady. We owe you our lives along with the town’s people. If it wasn’t—” “Oi, don’t! Don’t bow to me. That’s just so awkward.” She said. Odalf’s forehead creases as he watch the lady now talking to her comrades, then, the masked lady turned to them. “Now that everything is settled, we’ll go ahead. Bye!” Just like that, the four of them turn their back on him and Ice, they walks away leaving him wondering of the lady’s identity and how strong she might possibly be. “Sir Odalf, the mages from the capital have arrived.” Reported one of his members. Odalf’s face turned grim at the mention of the mage from capital. “Are there Knights with them?” He asks walking towards where the other members are. “None Sir. There are three mages in total. All white level.” His member said pertaining about the color of the mages’ magic base which is used to classify their strength. Odalf wondered if that lady and her group were mages or hunters just like them. ‘No. If they were hunters I would know. That powerful person if she’s a hunter I would know.’ Odalf is certain that he would know if such powerful hunter emerge after all, powerful hunters can be counted in his fingers. Distinguished and Superior level hunters are limited. ~ ZAIRE LEVI’s POINT OF VIEW “My lady, we are close to the village of Valyr.” Announced Blake in front. “Great!” Finally, after that fight against those wild oversized dogs, we are now nearing the village. “You surprised me when you offered a seventy-thirty division of magic cores and iron fangs.” The elf remarked. I chuckle. “What do you expect me to do back then?” “Honestly?” She raised her brows while I just nod my head. “I expected you to claim all the magic cores. You’ll profit more.” I expected that from her that’s why I casually smiled. “That’s true. I really wanted to keep those magic cores and iron fangs to myself. Imagine how much I will gain from all of them!” I stated with a dejected sigh. “Anyway, those peeps deserved it. They fought for their lives and saved many civilians as possible.” I witnessed them fighting those horde of oversized dogs. It made me wonder of one thing though. “How can they be so... weak?” I ponder. I mean, except for that Ice and the guy Odalf, the rest of the members of their group are weak. Based on their magic energy they’re at least Mid or High Intermediate level. Fighting off those horde of wolves, although there are twelve of them, from the levels of those ten I no longer wonder why they were struggling. Odalf is a Superior level while Ice was, nah, I don’t know about that masked dude. “Pfft!” I chuckles remembering how all of us are wearing mask and also that Ice dude, it made Odalf look like an outsider while we’re talking since he’s the only person not wearing mask. “Did you not know my lady?” Asks Elise while staring at me. My interest perked. “Know what?” “Ah, the discrimination between Mages, Knights and Hunters.” Discrimination between those three? I totally have no idea, even Jozine’s memory served me none. I’m guessing even Jozine does not know much about this. “This is no secret my lady. Hunters are called... fodders of monsters.” “...fodders?” Hunters are canon fodders? I mean monsters fodders? But as far as I know, mages, knights and hunters, these professions are reigning in the kingdom of Magia ensuring the safety of the kingdom and its people from the threat if monsters, beasts and even demon. Phew! Holy f**k. “Then why does Hunters exists? What’s the purpose of hunters if they’re considered fodders?” I ask her. “Well, I heard this from Mistress Felicia before my lady but, hunters although considered the first line of defense for others, from the perspective of other noble houses they’re sacrifices. They fight those monsters first until the mages and knights arrive.” “The heck...?” I groaned. “That’s stupid. If hunters are first line of defense but considered like that, I doubt hunters will remain. No one would want a job when they’re expected to die. I won’t. Even if they pay me millions.” I admitted with a frown. “That’s because all hunters are commoners my lady. Commoners with low magic. They make a living through hunting monsters even though they have insufficient strength in magic and fighting they don’t have a choice.” I can hear the pain from Elise’s voice but I dare not ask. I blew a loud breath. “The Hunters Association must be doing something for this. Odalf, that man from before is a hunter but he seems strong.” “Really my lady?” Elise asks. I nodded with a smile. “I guess there’s still hope for hunters. Tsk, that’s because some narcissistic nobles who lays on their mansion enjoying their lives and safety just can’t let go of their egos thinking they’re so amazing just because of their bloodline as nobles. Fuckery. Those damned rich dumb nobles. They should try fighting monsters some f*****g time so they know how dangerous it is. Stupid nobles. f**k you all.” I mumbled while remembering those damned politicians and rich fuckers from Earth. Ah damn. Those hypocrite politicians acting like saints in public but actually devils in truth made my blood boil. Those rich mongrels too who acts like they own the world and people’s life just because they have money. They have the guts to have fun while other people suffer from them. Those pieces of shits who enjoys manipulating people. Ahhhh!!! f**k them all! “...M-My lady...!” I snap my eyes at Elise only to see her face as pale as sheet of paper and sweating. “Elise! Are you—” “Your... your magic energy is suffocating her, Lady Jozine.” I glance at the elf and she’s shaking a little. She’s not even looking at me! Holy s**t. I closed my eyes and calmed my self, absorbing the scattered magic energy I unconsciously released. Damn it. I should be careful in releasing unwanted magic energy. It will surely put me in trouble one of these days. I inhaled. “Sorry about that.” I apologized to Elise. She didn’t answer because she’s gasping but she did smiled at me. Damn. I looked away from her while feeling guilty because of the state I put her. “We have arrived, my lady!” ~
