Third Person’s Point of View* Zaire opened her eyes, on her left hand is water and on the other is fire, she threw both elements creating a loud bang of explosions, the wall made of magic is now half destroyed. ‘That book is really powerful huh’ It’s been three days since she started cultivating secretly, her main goal back then was to strengthen her fire magic, who would’ve thought that the four elemental magic would manifest themselves while she was meditating and that is not all, the book helped her in practicing and mastering the those magic. Looking at the impact made, she knows that the level is no longer in Novice level. She could be in High Intermediate level or low but definitely not Novice. Zaire knows her progress is not normal but with the help of the mysterious book it doesn’t bother her that much. It’s both a luck and a blessing that she got the book. It became her personal trainer, it would explain to her the basics and even the complicated stuff she does not have any idea of. She’s having a hard time controlling wind magic the most while earth magic is the easiest one to muster. Just like the book said, the strongest form of any attack and defensive magic is the strength of their magic energy. The higher it is, the stronger one’s magic is, however, the imagination that a magician wants his magic to take form is also a thing that he must consider. Basically, increase your magic energy, strengthen the magic base and be more imaginative. That’s how Jozine trains. “Maybe I should try manifesting light magic again?” She asks no one in particular in the empty space. Whenever she meditates she goes in one place only, it’s like the galaxy, dark but there spots of lights around her, the place is filled with those colorful lights. Zaire knows those are magic energy. She can feel it. It was also the same thing the book said, this is place is called Void of Magic, an endless place filled with magic and a perfect place to practice. Zaire looks at her right palm, a familiar color of white and gold light started to form, beneath her a small magic circle started to grow. Light magic. Jozine’s magic. Zaire smiled. ‘Finally, I’m able to manifest it.’ The development might be easy but the beginning of her solo training wasn’t. She would suffer from her own magic. That’s why before manifesting her magic she would always meditate first to strengthen her magic base, filtering it into its purest form is not easy that’s why what she did is to gather as much as magic energy around and strengthen it, solidifying it if possible. She wants to practice a lot especially with new knowledge from the book but she focused on these five elements first. She wants to achieve the advance level for the four elemental magic and retain the superior level of the Jozine’s light magic. The classification of magic energy are as follows: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced, they are divided into sub-level, Low, Mid and High. Pass this level is considered top tier level magic, Superior and finally the highest level, Distinguished. Aiming for advanced level for now is not possible so she wants to achieve at least high Intermediate level. Zaire groaned when she opened her eyes. The backlash of training every night before sleep makes her body heavy every morning but she can’t slack off, aside from training her magic she also trains her physical body. Zaire knows that relying on magic alone is not possible. ‘Hmm, I did read physical enhancing magic on that book, I wonder how that works.’ She wanted to try it out but maybe later, she has business to attend today. After preparing, Zaire set out on her way to Bayport to get the bodysuits she asked for. On her shoulder is Amda reporting to her of the new mission she gave. “Lalala master, hidden market will open this evening at ten PM in Noyini. I heard high grade slaves will be traded off.” Zaire nodded her head. Noyini is actually the name of the mountain where the hidden market is and it’s well known in Magia. A great opportunity since she needs a slave. ‘s**t, I hate that word slave. Assistant, I need an assistant.’ “Thank you for purchasing Miss, do come again!” The tailor enthusiastically waved goodbye at them, as the carriage left, the tailor remained outside waving. Zaire chuckles. “He must be so thankful.” “He truly is, my lady. The p*****t you gave him is enough for them to last a few months.” Elise said. Zaire is surprised. She thought it was just a little more compared to the actual price but to think it’s that much, she didn’t think about it the least. It was the money Jozine worked hard for so no big deal. “We are going to the village of Yini my lady?” She nodded her head. “May I know why?” Zaire smirks at Elise. “Because I’ll be buying my new assistant.” Elise’s forehead crease. “Is an assistant better than me my lady? The secretary?” Zaire burst out laughing. Her innocence in that is funny. “Nope. You have your own skill and my assistant will have its own. You excel in different fields.” The heck is she actually talking about, she couldn’t properly explain it though so she will leave it at that. Elise seems fine with that explanation. Yini Village is located at the foot of Noyini Mountain where the hidden market is, although it’s still several hours later, she needs to go there for more important matters. ‘Amda said there are low level beast type monsters on that area. A perfect place for actual training.’ After five hours of travel from Bayport to Yini Village, they were able to settle in a small lodging house. She rented two room for her and Elise along with the coachman. She and Elise will be staying in a room. After eating, Zaire changed into the dark red bodysuit and boots she bought along with the magic cloak. She also wore a face mask covering balf of her lower face, her green eyes can the only part seen on her face, even her black long hair is tied in a tight ponytail few lose strands on her face she did not bother fixing. “Are you sure you’ll be alright my lady?” Elise worriedly asks but Zaire reassuringly nodded her head. Two hours, it will take two hours to reach the peak of the mountain where the market is. If she is to use horse it might take longer than that. Zaire grabbed the leather backpack placed it on her. “You stay here Elise and don’t worry about me too much.” She said before jumping off the window. She use wind magic to help her on landing, she walks towards the entrance of the mountain and started chanting wind magic flight spell. It requires roughly half of her current magic energy but she doesn’t have much of a choice. She needs to be there before the market officially opens. “All hail wind listen to me, lift me and let me fly.” A blue magic circle appeared beneath her and slowly lifted her unto the ground. She wobbled a little not used to the feeling of gravity-less but was able to adjust. Finally, using a little wind magic force on her feet to help her accelerate, Zaire flew to the peak of the mountain. A faint blue light from her left as she flew. Zaire coughs and removed the leaves left on her hair. She did not expect her landing to be so troublesome that she ended up landing on a tree. So f*****g stupid of her, in the end she had to dispel her flight spell midair because she couldn’t land. The market is still close, there are barbarians placed on the entrance. They’re huge and scary looking. Lanterns and torch light along with moonlight is the source of light of the market. Her eyes looks at the two barbarians from head to toe. They have little magic energy in them, it wasn’t also a strong magic energy. Their magic base must be in black color too and isn’t solid. They must be novice mid level, approximately. She can’t feel any hidden artifacts or relics to help them hide their magic energy. ‘Must be good at physical combat.’ Zaire thinks. “Good evening, I am Z. I’m looking for a merchant in this market named Froso.” She introduced herself. The barbarians look at each other and talks in foreign language. “Froso? She’s pertaining about the one that sells monster and beast magic core.” “The tribe leader’s special merchant?” “Yes yes. Who is this young girl?” “As I said, I go by the name Z. I’d like to talk to Froso, in exhange, I have valuable information regarding the sword formation he wanted.” The two barbarians looks at her clearly surprised. “You can talk our language?” One of them asks. “Yes. You’re from Esphen Tribe?” She asks and the two are quick to nod. “Cool! I met one of your people and he taught me your language.” She said. The two barbarians are quick to escort her personally to one of the tents at the end of the market, it’s also the biggest with five barbarian guarding it. Zaire knows why the two Esphen’s are giving her a special treatment. Their Esphenian language is a sacred language known to be taught by the god of animals, it is also hard to study it and very tricky. Only one out of every one hundred outsiders who wants to learn it can actually learn and use it. It was thanks to Amda’s skills in digging information, it was the little rat who told her everything about the market and the barbarians, including the merchant named Froso. She studied their language through the book. She absorbed it and bam, she knows it. Putting it into practice is hard since the accent is different from what she knows. She kept on screaming ‘Google’ while studying it. “Who is that little girl?” Little girl, Zaire wants to laugh. In their eyes she’s just a little girl since they’re too. “This is Z, she speaks our language and wants to meet Mr. Froso.” Said the barbarian beside her. Zaire watch their interaction in silence and finally, after one of the guard entered to tell Froso the information she holds, she’s given the permission to enter his tent. Like she expected, it’s filled with various magic cores of different sizes and and colors. Business in this field is profitable in this world since magic cores from magical and mythical beasts helps magicians to level up and be stronger including high level monsters. They can be sold in high price, it also helps in practicing magic although can’t be compared to a magical beast and mythical beasts’ core. “Have a seat,” the man wearing a mask covering his face spoke gesturing the seat in front of him. “What would you like to drink?” Zaire smirks. “I came here for business purposes, Mr. Froso. I would like to get down on business if possible.” She said. “Hm, straightforward. What would happen if I beat around the bush?” “It would not be my loss, I can easily find others who sells high grade cores while you can’t find this sword formation that I have.” The atmosphere turned heavy, Zaire looks directly in Froso’s eyes. “Young girl, you sure are fearless.” Zaire smiled and although covered, she knows that Froso knows she’s smiling. “I’m confident that you are willing to exchange the most valuable core that you have for this information.” “If so, let’s hear it.” Froso composed himself and fixed his attention to the young woman in front of him. He can’t feel her magic, the young woman is capable that is without a doubt. Having the ability to hide her magic, she could be in Superior level. Such a prodigy she is to achieve that level in her age. “What I have here is one of the techniques for Sword Magic of Arcane level from the ancient sect of swordsman, the Demerine’s. This is not just some sword enforced with magic spells.” Zaire watch as Froso’s eyes widen. She now have his complete attention. “Are you willing to listen to my proposal now, Mr. Froso?” He cleared his throat. “How can I be sure that what you have is the authentic one?” Zaire smirks. “Mr. Froso, or should I say Lord Franklin Bernard?” “What...!!” “Don’t worry. I have no plans in revealing that the infamous merchant named Froso is the Duke of Magia. I just want you to know that I get whatever sort of information that I want, that includes your true identity and your reason of being a merchant of magic cores.” She leaned against the chair and crossed her arms. “You wanted to acquire this technique that I have, right Mr. Froso? I’m sure you’ve known how this works from hearsay however, it’s more powerful and complicated than that. Whether what I have is true, I’m sure you will know soon enough.” She handed him the scroll that includes the array or magic formation for the first phase of the said sword magic. “What I want in exchange of this is an MEQO.” “... MEQO?” Zaire closed her eyes. How could she forget. “Magic energy quantifying orbs, two of them and five magic cores of a high tier monsters or beasts. Up to you.” “...high tier magic cores?” He sounded hesitant and Zaire knows why exactly. Aside from the fact that it’s extremely expensive, it’s difficult to acquire a magic core of high level monsters or beasts. “I believe those are nothing compared to this information Mr. Froso. This would also increase your household’s strength and defense of Magia the moment your family of knights muster this.” He couldn’t answer. Zaire stood up and, “I’ll leave you alone to think this matter thoroughly.” She’s ready to leave when he called for her. She smirks. “I agree.” She sat back and watch as he placed the things she wanted in a small pouch. It’s a dimensional pouch that is equipped with spell that can store many things. She is reminded if that blue cat’s pocket. Mr. Froso handed it to her. She thanked him and stood up ready to leave when she remembered something. “Oh right, the next step of that one is on me too. Bye, then!” She then vanished. Froso left along opened the scroll and indeed, written on it is an array of the first phase, below it is an incantation. He looks at where Z was, her presence completely vanished. Zaire fixed her bag where the pouch is, the market has officially opened. There are small tents lined up on each side, magians are everywhere. Some wearing masks and some aren’t. Zaire is reminded that most of the magians here who wears masks must be a noble or even a royal who’d like to hide their identity. “One-hundred pieces of gold for this slave! An ice elf from Mount Foshuka who specializes in ice magic! Perfect to protect you or become your woman! Just one hundred pieces of gold!” Zaire watch as people gather in this particular store, the store for slaves. ‘An ice elf as slave?’ Does this slave traders not know what the consequences of trading elves as slaves? Zaire knows what utter stupidity it is yet she can’t help but wonder how an elf ended up in this situation. “110!” “120!” “150!” “200!” The bidding price grew more and more. Zaire watch the ice elf looking around. Her hair is long and an ornament is placed on her hair. Elven signature look. Zaire is amazed! In front of her is a real and authentic elf! An ice elf at that. “500!” Zaire announced. The people grew quiet and looks at her. She shrugs. Money is not a problem, she can get her five hundred golds back if she sell this magic cores with her. “SOLD!” After paying the traders, Zaire watch as the elf looks at her from head to toe, a chain wrap on her neck. “Could you remove that chain? It’s an eyesore.” She said, the slave trader do so and gave her the chain leash. “What will I do with that? Throw that away, tsk.” She said and walks away back to her place to look for another assistant. “Arrogant brat, you think that elf will stay without leash?” The trader mumbled. Zaire got bored watching the auction for slaves, she decided to just leave instead. “Oi, I can feel your presence elf. What do you want?” Asks Zaire stopping from her tracks. No answer from the ice elf so she just continued her journey. While walking, Zaire felt another presence, more like a stench. It smells like a sewer, rotten and disgusting. Just then, four one-eyed green cyclops. They look like a rat but bigger like the size of a full grown dog. Zaire whistled. She can feel a weak magic energy from these cyclops. Zaire heaved a deep sigh. “Seriously elf, why don’t you leave?” Once again, no response from the elf. “Grrrghh” The cyclops encircled her and instead of feeling fear, she felt her adrenaline pumping. It feels just like back when she was on Earth, the feeling whenever she got hunted by dumb asses who’s secret got revealed because of her. ‘How nostalgic.’ Zaire smirks upon thinking. The eyes of four cyclops all staring at her, it then turned blue and the next thing she knew, they fired her with blue laser beam from their eyes. Zaire casted a swift wind spell that lifted her temporarily, after that, fire from her right hand took form of a spear and without second thought, she threw it on the cyclops closest to her straight on its eyes. Blue blood splattered from the fire spear and then the cyclops then got wrap inside a fire ball. It’s groaned muffled by her fire, the cyclops is has now turned into a burnt cyclops. First on the menu. ‘3 left,’ Zaire landed on the ground, using the earth element this time, she formed a huge hand smashing the two nearest cyclops. Her earth hand disappeared, she uses wind magic to advance on top of the remaining cyclops and slices it using wind swords, the last cyclops got sliced to bits. She wiped some of the blood that splashed her and sighs. ‘I need to increase my stamina and strengthen my magic base more.’ She realizes that using the element simultaneously easily exhausts her like she thought although she was able to handle it quite well, must be because these monsters are low level and have low magic energy too. Nonetheless, she felt that it was a job well done. It made her point what she lacks in actual battle and hunting. Although it felt weird, her magic feels stronger than she ought it to be. The spells are basic spells in the book yet it was easy to deal damage. ‘Ah right, they’re low level.’ She stood up and turn around only to come face to face with the ice elf. “f**k!” She gasps taking a step back. “The heck why are you suddenly appearing in front of me?!” She exclaimed cupping her chest where her heart beating loudly is. The elf is beautiful, her eyes are purple, her lips are naturally red complimenting her snow white skin and her golden blonde straight hair couldn’t hide her pointed ears. “You bought me.” The elf stated. Zaire sighs, “well yeah. That’s because your magic energy is unique and naturally strong. It’ll be a waste to spend your life being a slave.” “I will stay with you—” “No thank you,” she cut her off and walks away. It will be too troublesome to have an elf around. Elven Tribe in far north, just before the kingdom of merpeople are known as the most secluded race in this world. They are strict and rarely interact with other races. Magia and Elven Tribe signed a treaty of peace between kingdoms and although Elven Tribe is a small frozen island of Elves and they reside in the ice mountain of Mount Foshuka, they are naturally gifted with strong magic energy, they haven’t trained in that state yet. In their natural state they are at least high Intermediate level or advanced. “Why do you refuse? It should be an honor on your part!” The elf argued. Zaire frowned and looks at the woman. “Instead of acting so arrogant why don’t you try going back?” She asks. “Well, could you take me back?” Zaire’s frowned deepened. “No.” She turned around. “They took me from the capital! Those slave traders took me against my will!” Zaire sighs again. “You got elf-napped huh.” “..what?” Despite walking faster the elf could still catch up to her that’s why Zaire gave up on losing the elf, instead she faced him. “Fine, I will take you to the capital. On one condition.” The proud elf crossed her arms. “State your condition.” “I will be compensated. Beautifully.” She said, the elf whose name she doesn’t know nodded her head without second thought. “My family is more than willing to pay for me.” “Cool. Let’s go then,” they started to walk. Zaire would like to use the flight spell she used on her way but she chooses not to. Her magic energy is low already and she has an excess baggage with her, the cores and the elf. ~ Hello once again readers!
