Returning to my rejected mate

Shay's Point of View "Come on, Shay! Please!" Megan begs me with big eyes while I shake my head. "No. I don't want to go. I'm tired. I just want to curl up in bed, eat some popcorn and bingewatch something. Why don’t you just go without me?" I say as I continue to walk home. "Please, I don't want to go alone. It will be fun, I promise." "You always say that... And it never really is. You know I don't like going out to parties." I grimace. We have just gotten out of school. Last day before the vacation starts, finally. The exams were tough, and all I wanted to do was curl up in my bed with some snacks and a good series to bingewatch. I never go to parties. I don't like all the noise and the people. Megan, on the other hand loves to party, but she never wants to go alone and always ends up dragging me along with her. Just to dump me once she meets someone there. "I know, but you need some fun. Come on, exams are over and our vacation starts today. We've just finished high school. Let's kick off our celebration with some partying, tonight. " I sigh. "I'll think about it." She smiles triumphantly at me. "Yes! Thank you! I'll start putting together your outfit. You"ll love it!" "I haven't actually agreed to go with you yet, Megan. I said I'd think about it." I say arching my brow my brow at her. "We'll see." Megan shrugs her shoulders while smirking at me. I shake my head and sigh, knowing there is no use in arguing. She knows she is going to get her way, just like all the other times. ‐-------------------------------------------------- 4 hours later I'm standing in front of the mirror in my room, looking at myself. As always Megan nagged and pleaded until she convinced me to go to the birthday party of the neighboring pack's next Alpha. "I can't go out like this!" I say horrified, shaking my head as I look at the outfit Megan put together for me. "Why not? You look amazing?" I glance at Megan incredulously before looking back at my reflection "I just can't.. It's not me. The jeans are to tight, and the shirt shows way to much skin." I say, trying to pull the material down over my stomach and up over my breasts at the same time. Megan laughs, swatting my hands away and pulling the shirt back in to its place.. "Oh come on, Shay! Stop being such a prude. You look seriously hot. The boys won't be able to take their eyes off of you." "I don't want a lot of boys eyes on me." Megan rolls her eyes at me. "Fine, who knows maybe you'll find your mate tonight." "My birthday was two month ago and so far no luck, why would tonight be any different?" I ask her arching my brow at her and she shrugs. "I just have a feeling. Now, stop staring at the mirror and come. We're gonna be late!" I take one last look at my reflection and take a deep breath, trying to ease some of my tension and my wolf's restlessness. "Fine. Let's go." I say, turning to Megan and together we leave my bedroom. ------------------------------- About three hours later I'm sitting outside drinking some water and looking up at the sky, away from all of the noise. My eyes follow all the dancing people. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. The birthday boy is yet to show up for his own party, but that didn't stop anyone else from enjoying his party. My gaze lands on one person in particular. Megan.. As usual she is on the dance floor with some guy, the new Alpha's Beta, leaving me all to myself. I sigh and shake my head. Honestly, this always happens when I come with her. I don't know why I keep letting her talk me into coming to parties. I turn my gaze back up at the sky, watching the stars twinkle overhead. Just as I am about to go over to Megan to tell her that I am leaving, I am suddenly hit with the most amazing scent ever and my heart starts racing. I knew what that scent meant. I have been waiting for this exact moment since I turned eighteen. My wolf starts pacing around in my head encouraging me to follow the scent. I quickly stand, trying to pin point where the scent is coming from and as I turn around our eyes meet. And my breath hitches in my throat. I stand there, just staring at him. I guess he finally showed up. My gaze travels over him slowly. I have always thought he was gorgeous but nothing can compare to how attractive I find him right now. My mate, the birthday boy himself. Zane... Tall and very muscular with dark wavy hair, a strong jawline with a prominent nose. And those eyes, not really brown or yellow.. They look more like molten gold, drawing me in. I've always liked those strange, captivating eyes. "Mine!" He growls as put eyes lock again. He strolls over with big strides before taking me into his arms and kissing me. I don't question it. The moment his lips touches mine, I feel fireworks going off as the sparks of the matebond rushes through me. I immediately wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him back. "I've been looking for you." He says after pulling away to breathe. His voice husky. I let out a soft moan as he starts kissing down my neck soflty. "God, you smell amazing Shay." He groans before he kisses me again. He pulls away once more, making me groan in protest. He chuckles, resting his forehead against mine. Cupping my cheek with one of his hands. "I've always thought you were pretty. But now.. You are r breathtakingly beautiful." I smile up at him with my cheeks tinted red. I've been told I'm pretty before, but hearing those words from him, my mate, it is a whole different feeling. I don't really have much experience with guys. Never really dated. I have always waited for my mate, not wanting anyone but him. "Thank you. You're very handsome yourself." I say shyly, touching his cheek, lightly brushing my fingers against the stubble, enjoying the feeling of the sparks tingling against my fingertips. He laughs at me and hugs me closer to him. "You're shy, Who would've guessed." "Sorry..." I start but he shakes his head with a smile. "No, it's cute. I like it. I'm not used to shy girls. And coming from you it's quite amusing. Where is the fierce, confident Shay from school?" I blush again, tugging a piece of my hair behind my ear. "I'm not used to being this close to guys, especially not cute ones that just kissed me." I say with small smile. He laughs again, stroking my cheek, down to my neck. I can feel my heart racing and he smirks. "Do I make you nervous little mate?" Little mate, the corners of my mouth twitch at the nickname. I nod my head slowly. "A little, yes. Do I make you nervous?" I ask, putting my hand on his chest. I can hear it beating fast. "You make me very excited." He growls huskily and pulls me even closer to him. I gasp as I feel his throbbing erection against my stomach. I look down with big eyes, swallowing nervously. Zane chuckles again before lifting my chin up slightly so our eyes lock again. "Come on little mate, let's go upstairs to talk yeah?" I nod my head, with a smile on my face and I let him pull me away. As we walk and talk I can't help the big smile spread on my lips. I can't believe it, I actually found my mate. For once coming to a party with Megan actually paid off. If I only knew then what I know now..
