Chapter 4 Everlee’s POV

2366 Words
Later that day, all the women were brought out into the same room that we had been ogled at earlier. Our hands were still zip tied together in front of us. Abby held onto me like her life was dependent on it as we were led out and placed in rows just a few feet apart from one another. Abby had refused to let go of me and the wolves had to pull her away from me. She kicked and screamed as they dragged her away from my side. “It is going to be okay Abby.” I said in an effort to console her, but she continued to fight against them. One of the wolve's back hand slaps her across the cheek, and I immediately lose my s**t. I may not have a wolf, but I still had all the perks that came with being a werewolf by blood. I have the same increased speed and agility as they do, along with hearing and accelerated healing. I charged forward, grabbing the wolf that had hit my friend by the back of his shirt with both hands, wrenching him backwards away from Abby before throwing him against the closest wall. “Don’t you dare f*****g touch her!” I spat in his face, and he looked like he was about to s**t his pants. Surprise was evident on his face as he stared open-mouthed at me. The rest of the girls had all left the spots that they had been placed in and were now huddled in a group on the other side of the room. The rest of the guards are just as stunned and are not making any effort to pull me away from the sleaze ball wolf as I bring my ziptied hands down over and over on his chest. The energy in the room changes and the wolf that I had pushed away from Abby is now smiling smugly at something or someone behind me as he finally catches my hands before they struck him once again. “Done f****d up now, didn’t you?” The wolf said with a smug smile playing at the corner of his mouth and I looked over my shoulder to see two large shadows standing in the darkness of the doorway. I can not see any of their features as they are covered in the shadows from the dark hallway that they are currently standing in. One of the shadows takes a few steps forward into the room and the light starts to reveal what was hidden beneath those shadows. He is a very nice-looking wolf. He has chin-length dirty blonde hair and a strong physique that is easy to see as it strains against the seams of his dark grey suit. He doesn’t seem to be as dangerous as the shadow that is still standing behind him. He emanates a very threatening vibe, his aura spilling out of him commanding respect from all those within the room. This isn’t good, I thought to myself. As the one wolf gets closer, I can see the darkness of his wolf in his eyes, telling me that his wolf is in complete control right now. Well. So much for thinking that he was not as dangerous, I am f****d for sure now as he stalks across the room towards me. Will they just cut their losses and have me killed for attacking one of the guards? “Not so brave now are you bitch.” The wolf I had attacked whispers in my ear from behind me as he too now rises to his feet before he adds, “Sorry Sir, the other female would not leave her side. We were simply trying to get them ready for your arrival.” He bows his head as the wolf in the grey suit stops directly in front of him. The powerful wolf looks to the side in between two of the other guards and sees Abby still sitting on the floor where she had fallen, sporting a very bright red handprint across her cheek. His wolf growls deeply causing me to jump a bit as he looks at the wolf that is behind me. In quick succession, he has the wolf pressed up against the same wall with his hand wrapped securely around his throat. “What are the rules?” He questions as the once cocky wolf desperately claws at the hand that is wrapped around his throat to get the much needed air that he needed. “I-I didn’t mean to hit her it j-just happened.” He stuttered, his face turning a slight shade of red. “Is that an excuse for marking up his merchandise?” The wolf growls out in his face. “N-no sir.” The guard says as he continues to gasp for any bit of oxygen that he can get. “You knew the rules and you still broke them. Now you will pay the price.” He growls and I watch as the wolf's face starts to turn a deep shade of purple before there is a loud cracking sound as his neck snapped, his body crumbles to the floor when the wolf in the suit released his hold. He turns around now facing the rest of the room, the guards all bowing their heads and baring their necks in submission to him and the rest of the females are still shaking in their little group, more terrified then they had been before. I hurried over to where Abby was still sitting on the floor as quickly as I could. “Abby, you are okay.” I said in a calm voice, trying to snap her out of the daze that she was in. I had just kneeled in front of her when I was grabbed by my elbow and yanked back to my feet forcefully by the wolf in the suit, his fingers digging painfully into my arm. “What are you doing?” I asked frantically as I was steered away from Abby and down a hall. “She will be fine.” The wolf says as he pulls me away from the others and down the hall. I had not realized that the imposing shadow disappeared during the scuffle at some point. There was no one else around us as he continued to drag me down the hall, my heart rate spiked as the thought of being alone with a random male wolf flew through my mind causing me to double my efforts to get away from him. “No! Let me go!” I yelled at him and tried to pull my arm away from his grasp, but he refused to let go. When I continued to fight, he stopped looking at me with those black eyes boring into my very soul before they turned a warm brown. His human taking back control. We were far enough down the hall that the others would not be able to hear or see the two of us. He places his finger over his mouth, telling me to keep quiet as he leads me into an empty room. It is dark and there doesn’t seem to be anything inside the four walls beside a window that shows the setting sun as it lit up the sky in red and orange. It was the first time I had seen the sun since I had been brought to this hellhole. I walked over to the window absentmindedly, not caring about the very dangerous wolf that was in the same room as me, alone. “I am sorry about your friend being hurt. She won't be hurt again, I can assure you of that.” The wolf says as he comes to stand beside me looking out the same window, at the setting sun. His voice is softer than it was just moments before. This isn’t the same wolf I just watched snap a man’s neck like it was nothing. The contrast in his actions are so different that I am not sure how to react. Watching him from the corner of my eye, I can see sadness in his own as he watches the setting sun. He turns meeting my gaze then and I automatically take a step back trying to put as much distance between him and I as I could. “I am not going to hurt you.” He says. Narrowing my eyes and crossing my arms over my chest, I said nothing. Trust him to not hurt me, yeah right. I had every reason to believe that him hurting me was the only reason he had dragged me away from the others in the first place. He sighs, his shoulders sagging as he looks at the ground for only a moment before meeting my gaze again. “Ok, I know that there is not any reason to trust me, but I am asking that you try.” He says. “And why would I do that?” I asked, dropping my arms to my sides, staring at him in disbelief. “Because I need your help.” He says, stunning me into complete silence. “My help with what exactly? Aren’t you helping with this whole operation?” I asked. He sighs again, turning away from me for a moment. I eyed the door, weighing my chances of making it out of this room before he could catch me. “I am seen as someone that those wolves out there should fear and with good reason. No, I am the unwilling third man of this s**t show.” He says. “I wouldn’t try that. One of them will catch you before you can make it very far.” He says, snapping me out of my inner thoughts. “If you are not a willing participant, then what are you doing here then?” I asked, meeting his gaze once again. How would that even be possible? A sigh escapes him, and I can see a sadness that consumes his eyes return once again. “Much like you, I was forced into this. Thought not in the same way. The leader has my mate and has been holding her hostage to keep me in line.” He says as he drags his hand through his long hair. “One mistake and he will kill her.” I gasp, it is a believable story, but I am still not sure if I should fully trust someone who just admitted that they were number three in this operation. But why would he even be telling me this in the first place if it wasn’t true? I thought to myself. “I saw the way you stood up for your friend out there.” He says, “None of the others would have done something like that. They would have been too scared to stand up to those wolves. But you did. You are the only one that can help me get them out of here.” “Seriously, you expect me to really believe that?’ I asked skeptically and he just nodded his head at me. “I have a plan, but I can’t do it alone. I can't let them think that I have any involvement when the time comes.” He says as he shoves his hands in his pockets. “Do it.” A voice inside my head says, startling me. What was that? I thought to myself as I searched the room for someone else that might have spoken then, but there was no one. It was only the two of us. “Are you ok?” He asks with a bit of concern in his eyes as I continue to search the darkness for the other voice with no luck. “Do it” the voice says again, a bit more forcefully and louder then it had before. Where is this voice coming from, I thought as I weighted my options. It was either say no and possibly end up sold or given to some disgusting male wolf for him to do with me as he pleased, or I can help this wolf who, even though he seems to be dangerous, seems sincere about getting all of the women out and saving his mate. But would I be able to do it? “Fine, I guess I will help, but what exactly am I supposed to do?” I asked. “Just get the others ready so they are not as frightened when the time comes. I have the rest of it handled.” He says as he walks closer, the setting sun slowly taking what little light it had offered to the room with it as it sank lower in the sky. “I need to get you back with the others before anyone gets suspicious about where we have been.” He says as he walk to the door, opening it slowly and poking his head out check the hallway before he motioned for me to follow him. Thankfully, we made it back to the room that I was being held in. He opened the door and led me inside to the only empty bed that was left beside Abby. All the women were quiet, not daring to say a word while he was there. He secured me to the bed with the chain before nodding and walking out. As the door closed behind him, everyone released the breath that they had been holding together. “Everlee, are you ok? What did he do to you?” Abby asked as she sat up, worry easy to hear in her voice. Looking over at my friend, I see the handprint still on her cheek that will likely bruise her fair skin tomorrow. I had to do whatever I could to help get her out of here, to get all of them out of here if I could. If that meant trusting the grey-suit wolf, then I would take the chance that everything that he had said in that room was the truth and pray to the Moon Goddess that he was truthful.
