"Alpha, ALPHA" My Beta John yelled out over the howls from the rogue I was currently torturing to get my attention. I turn my head and my Wolf, Warg growls low in my chest. He hates to be interrupted when he is working. "Sorry Alpha, but it is time." He says simply, bowing his head. John knows that Warg can be a barbaric when working and that can spill over to anyone who might be inside the room, which is one of the reasons that my Beta always made sure that no one could come in or out during these times except him.
"Well, I guess it's your lucky day." My Wolf sneers when he looks over his shoulder admiring his work while wiping the rogue’s blood from his hands. "When I get back you will give me the answers I want." He growls before turning and walking out of the cell, the heavy metal door clanging loudly as it closes behind him.
This was the first rogue to be captured near pack territory. Several packs across the country have started to see a rise in border crossings over the past few years, but something about the situation had never set right with him or his wolf. So, I had sent several warriors to the packs that had been attacked recently and while they were investigating the attacks, they managed to spot this rogue lurking just outside the pack.
At first, we thought that it was just normal rogues periodically crossing onto pack land, but they had quickly realized that was not the case. She wolves were now missing and their families had quickly found my men asking them to save their daughters.
No one knows exactly why these rogues were abducting unmated she-wolves. It just doesn't add up, most of the she wolves that have gone missing and lower rank with a few warrior daughters mixed in. My pack has been tasked with getting any information we can from the rogue that had been captured in the hopes that we can identify who their leader was and why they are abducting the she-wolves.
This was one of my pack's specialties. We had an elite team of wolves that trained to get information out of any target. Our tactics were not necessarily ethical, but they got the job done most of the time, but this rogue seemed to be just as clueless as we were right now. Whoever was behind the attacks and disappearances made sure that their soldiers would be useless should they ever be caught.
Today my cousin Jason Black is arriving for a meeting to see what else our warriors had been able to find out while inside the other packs. Both Blackwater and Black Willow have always found a way to work together, even after the split when our grandfathers were in charge. We had both taken over our packs younger then most other packs. Though each of our reasons were vastly different.
I have been the Alpha of Black Willow since I was nineteen, when my father was killed in a car accident. I can't say I was sad to see the man go. Where my Wolf could be a bit more aggressive and had no issue with wiping out rogues or torturing them when needed, my father was far more controlling of his own pack members and their lives.
He had to be the one controlling every aspect of every pack member's life, micromanaging every little thing that they did, and it was one of the reasons Black Willow had struggled to survive for many years under his leadership. He still lived in the past and refused to allow any non-wolf mates to join his pack. If you found your mate and they were not full werewolves, he expected you to either reject them immediately and take a new mate or you would be forced out of the pack.
I didn’t think like he did, and since his death I have been able to increase Black Willows numbers with the help of my Beta Female Heather. She was the first hybrid wolf to join the pack not long after I took over. She was half wolf and half witch. My Beta John had been terrified to mention that he had found his mate because he assumed that I would treat her the same as my father and grandfather would have. Since then, with the help of Heather and her magic, Black Willow has grown and flourished over the years, quickly growing from just under two hundred members to close to five hundred.
Now, if a pack member finds their mate and they are human or a type of hybrid, Heather is able to use her magic to make them appear as if they are full-blooded werewolves until they are changed, so the pack Elders remain unaware. Hybrids are still able to shift but their scent will be slightly off depending on their other half, so Heathers magic helps to conceal their other scent when needed with the use of a special pendent.
Many of the Elders of Black Willow still believe just like my father did and are very much against mating outside of our species or mating with hybrids. They believe that these matings will start to water down our genetics and thus make the pack weaker over time.
I quickly ran upstairs to the top floor of the packhouse. This floor was dedicated solely to the Alpha Family, while the floor below it was split between the Beta and Gamma families and the floors below were for any visitors. Most of the pack members had their own homes not far from the packhouse.
As soon as I opened the door to my suite, I could tell there was someone inside the room that should not be, their scent filling my space. A sickly-sweet scent that had my wolf growling deep in my chest as it hit me. He was pissed. Walking into my room following the scent as it gets stronger, I find Amanda perched on the edge of my bed in a very revealing set of lingerie.
‘For f**k's sake not again.’ I thought. Amanda was the only she wolf who continuously threw herself at me any chance she got, no matter how many times I told her no. Her Father was one of the Elders in the pack and had gotten it in her head apparently that she should be the next Luna.
I rolled my eyes at seeing her desperate attempt at being alluring. With her father as an elder, he had managed to convince the others that I should take Amanda as my Chosen Luna, but that was not going to happen. If I decided to take a chosen mate, it certainly would not be a she wolf like her. She is a scheming wolf along with her family and their main goal was to improve their own standing. They didn't care if it meant basically selling their own daughter off to the highest ranked wolf they could find, either in my pack or in another.
"Leave. Now. Amanda." I growled out as I walked past her to my bathroom. Annoyed that once again she was playing her little games.
"Don't you like what you see, Alpha?" She pouts, batting her eyelashes thinking it makes her look cute as she gets up from the bed, her eyes are swirling with desire now, the scent of her arousal permeating the room.
Warg growls from the depths of my mind. He too, is completely fed up with her antics. If she wasn’t the daughter of an Elder, he probably would have banished her already. Stopping just before I entered the bathroom, I turned to face her. She is not an unattractive she-wolf, by most standards, she is very beautiful, but she tries way too hard even when she has been repeatedly told no. "No, I don’t, and I want you to leave now." I say through gritted teeth trying to control my annoyance and my wolf.
Still not taking the hint to get the f**k out, she approaches me now, putting a little more sway in her hips than was needed. She places both her small hands on my chest and runs them across my chest. I grabbed her hands and removed them from my body. Warg did not like her at all and wanted her as far away from us as possible.
She looks up at me from under her lashes, "Please allow me to take care of your needs, Alpha. I only wish to please you." She says with a coy smile.
Warg growls again. We have one rule: We don't f**k around with any She wolves from my pack and I still avoid She wolves from other packs as much as possible. I am no saint by any means, but I have had a few close calls in my younger years and do not wish to relive those, especially with this particular Shewolf. Nothing is worse than getting involved with a social climbing she-wolf and Amanda was the worse of them all. She has been trying to get me to sleep with her for a few years now and is getting desperate enough to break into the Alpha Suite to throw herself at me once again.
Releasing her hands, I pushed her away from me gently but firmly. I dragged my hand down my face in exasperation, "Amanda, I said to leave now. I do not have time for your bullshit today." My wolf and my patience are running very thin right now.
Her jaw falls open that I am rejecting her one again before she snaps it closed and glares daggers at me. "You know most men would love to be with me." She says angrily, crossing her arms across her chest like a child who did not get their way.
"Then go f**k one of them" Warg says as he pushes himself forward as he stares down at her, leaving her momentarily stunned. "LEAVE" He commands with his Alpha aura starting to spill from him.
She huffs in annoyance but finally leaves, unable to fight the direct command from her Alpha.
Pushing my aggravation at my own pack member to the back of my mind, I showered quickly and got ready for the meeting. We have bigger issues to deal with right now.
Exiting my suite, I headed downstairs to my office to start the meeting. The others had arrived just a few minutes ago and everyone had been anxious to see what information had been found over the past few weeks. Walking into the large office, Jason and Eric are seated in the wing-backed leather chairs in front of my large black oak desk.
John was also already present along with the warriors who were there to report their findings from the packs. Everyone bows their heads slightly when I walk in, even my cousin, though he does not technically have to bow to me even if we are in my territory, since he will have more authority than I will. With his mate Holly being the princess of The Halo Pack, that means one day they will be the Alpha King and Queen Luna when her parents step aside, so even now they are far above me.
"Are we ready to start the meeting?" I asked, looking at all the occupants to make sure everyone was ready to proceed as well, and they all nodded.
"Alright, what have you been able to uncover about the attacks and missing wolves?" I asked as I took my set.
My warrior Red steps up. He was one of my best and had been placed in charge of interviewing the packs and its members. "All the packs have similar stories, a couple of breaches with no aggression from the rogues and then the next time she wolves are missing." Red says, making eye contact with me. "But there are holes in the stories." He adds, grabbing all our attention.
"Go on", I prompted him.
"The she wolves bonds to the packs are still intact, so they have not been killed nor have they left the packs willingly going rogue. Also, the higher ups seem to not have a care in the world for these women as they appear to be mostly lower-ranked wolves. It is the families that are drawing all the attention against their Alphas orders to stay out of it."
"That is odd. Why would they act that way? These are their pack members. Daughters and sisters to their pack members how could they not care what might have happened to them?" Eric asked, concern written all over his face mixed with disbelief and anger that these Alphas would react like this.
My wolf growls out in my head, he doesn't like the idea of these innocent girls being mistreated just because they were lower ranked. Every pack member was important, and it still bothered him how some packs could be so heartless.
"Unless they are in on it" my wolf said suddenly.
"You think these Alphas know what is happening to these women?" I asked him.
He just nods his big furry head. “I think there is more going on with all of this then we actually realize.” He says and I agree. That unsettling feeling returns to my gut the longer I ponder the thought.
"We also received this letter while at the hotel near one of the packs. No one saw who left the letter and we can't get a scent off of it to track but I think you will find it interesting." Red adds as he hands the letter over to me and I read it aloud, to the room.
Alphas Black,
Some of the missing she-wolves are being held in a warehouse just outside of Monroe. They won’t be there for very much longer as they are about to be moved, so there isn't any time to waste. You must get to them before it is too late.
At the bottom of the letter there is an address for the warehouse.
"I don't know how much we can trust that. What if it's a trap? Whoever is behind these abductions has to know that someone will be looking for them," Jason says. "They could have sent this letter to throw off the investigation."
"I agree, it does seem a little strange that we get such blatant information from an unknown source all of a sudden, but Warg thinks we need to check it out anyway just to be sure." I told the rest of the room.
"And if it's a trap? What will we do then?" Eric asked.
"We plan for it to be a trap. Scope it out so we know everything there is to know about the area before we go in. If the she wolves are there, we can't risk anything going wrong. We need to get them out if they are indeed inside the building," John adds.
Scanning the room, everyone gave a short nod of agreement to the plan. "Let's get going then" I said, and everyone left the office to get ready to leave for Monroe.
