Matter of time

~Aneria's POV~ "I thought they disappeared years ago..." Evan whispered gazing at his mate's silver eyes. Her eyes returned to their original color and she sat on the edge of the bed while taking something out of her pocket. Her fingers traced the piece of paper that I assume to be a picture and she said, "They did. Only mom and I were the last silver wolves. The rogue attack that happend..." She started to shiver remembering that horrific night but calmed down soon as Evan didn't waste any second embracing her in his arms. She took a deep breath and continued, "They somehow got to know about our existence and chose to target us when we were traveling back to our pack. They attacked mom after she shifted into her wolf but dad and my brother managed to save me. They died protecting me..." Tears couldn't stop pouring from her eyes all the while she talked about her family. My heart panged seeing her shivery hands and teary eyes. I asked about her alpha and what she said next boiled my blood. I never in my life had I had this strong urge to strangle someone to death. He is an ass! Attending a party was important for the coward-ass alpha of her previous pack rather than helping a girl of his pack who was in the middle of a big mishap. Instead of helping her, he shoved her aside. "I will kill him!" Evan growled loudly and his eyes turned all black. Scared, Beth jumped away from him and stood in the corner of the room. I shook my head, great. He scared his mate. I made my hands cold enough to bring him back to reality and kept my hands on his neck until he hissed and his eyes returned to their normal color. "I'm sorry..." He said to Beth who bobbed her head and with slow steps, she came back to him. "It will be great if you will let us know about the alpha. He is not healthy to lead." I said. Her thoughts flicker for a moment but then we got the name, Rick Novak; yellow moon pack. I heard about him. His dad was leading a year ago and he was a good leader but since Rick took over, so many things changed in that pack. Some for good, some for bad. I'm certain, now, more changes will take place in the yellow moon pack. "Everyone here is pretty good at hiding about the elemental wolves but I got to know about the prince the same day I saw him. Identification of power was just a matter of time for me." She said. For the first time since I saw her, there was a genuine smile sitting on her face. Her eyes were twinkling while talking about us and no signs of worry were visible in her dark brown orbs. "I love you... I want you to smile like that always. But hey! I AM YOUR MATE. She isn't!" Evan threw his hands in the air like a kid while expressing his love for his mate. I couldn't help but laugh harder, he made his mate beet red who was now trying to hide her face with anything she can find around her. "Oh god Ev...look what you did to my sister-in-law. Someone is blushing so hard." Her eyes widened like saucers and she whispered, "Sister-in-law?" "Yup. What else?" I said winking at her. Her blush only deepened when Ev and I chose to tease her a little more and then, unable to refrain from asking that bugging question, I asked what else she know about us and why does she feel so comforted in my presence. "I don't know much about the royal twins. People said that they are powerful and they or beta's twins might have some powers as the energy-controlling temples were built in the blood moon pack. It was the prince who I saw first and identifying the prince's powers for the first time was difficult as he was holding a bit of water energy too. But when I saw him another time, his fire energy was overpowering the other energy. So I knew it was none other than the royal twins." She smiled and continued, "It depends on which element we are most comfortable with. I always loved being around water and since my childhood, water is the only source that can calm all the racing thoughts inside me. It's like being with my best friend. Whenever I saw you passing by or sensed your cooling energy, I just...wanted to talk to you." Woah...I didn't know she was holding so much within her for so long. Sometimes I don't know what to say to people who keep bottling up things inside them. She was a mess and couldn't talk, but she needed it, then why didn't she try to ask this before? Wait, was she scared of me? I shook my head because I know there will be no good answer that would compel me to stop asking this thing over and again. "I don't understand why did you wait for so long but...ugh...your call." Fuck it! I don't understand why people not talking to me affects me so badly. If they do, I'm good and all happy but if they don't, it makes me feel like I'm at fault for some reason. That something is wrong with me or that I did something terrible with them. "I'll see you around..." I tried to smile at her but failed miserably. My stupid bothersome thoughts were evident on my face. I quickly moved to the door without bothering to look at both of them but Evan called my name, jeez...he knows me well. "You know it's not what you think Ann. She just needed time to be comfortable around people. And you heard what she said about 'being with a best friend'." He grinned while his mate was looking between us like she has seen a weird jigsaw puzzle. I closed my eyes trying to clear those thoughts from my head and smiled when the smiling faces of Ev and Beth greeted me. I hugged Beth as I don't want her to feel that I hold anything against her when I don't and heightened my energy to make her feel more comfortable. "Thank you...that was needed." She smiled. "Anytime. Join us for dinner; I'm sure you'll find more peace with everyone." I said and looked at Ev who was looking hopefully at his mate. She looked between us and heavily sighed, "Will you both be by my side?" "We will be," We replied in unison.
