CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Kyle woke up early and made breakfast for the family, this time around she was determined to fix her family even if it meant sacrificing her work for it.
Leonardo felt bad for yelling at Kyle yesterday but he just wanted his wife back. He entered the dining room and sat down picking up the newspaper to read.
"Good morning Leonardo." Kyle greeted him before serving him his plate.
"Good morning Kyle," Leonardo replied without looking at Kyle.
"Good morning daddy, mummy." Mateo greeted him, sitting on his seat in the dining room.
"Good morning son, mummy is sorry she couldn't make it to your presentation." Kyle apologized, looking at Mateo.
"It's alright mummy, I understand you had to save some people. Daddy said you are just like the doctors who save patients' lives and if you don't save them early, they will lose their lives and suffer." Mateo explained happily making Kyle look at Leonardo, who didn't even glance at her. She knew he was still angry at her and he sure has the right to be angry, but he didn't know she had everything planned out already, she Is determined to make her family united.
Turning to Mateo she said, "To make it up to you, mummy is going to take you to the park today, just you and me." Kyle said, caressing her son's face.
"Yay mummy, I will go and get dressed now so that we can get going," Mateo said leaving the dining room with his nanny making Kyle chuckle.
Leonardo couldn't help but smile at the scenario that unfolded before him. He was happy Kyle was making up to Mateo. He hopes he too will make up with Kyle soon.
"I have to get going, take care," Leonardo said before leaving to work.
After getting dressed, Kyle and Mateo left for the park. They had so much fun together. Mateo told his mummy he wanted to ride the swing.
"Mummy, push harder," Mateo said, making Kyle giggle.
"Son, hope you're having fun," Kyle asked, pushing the swing.
"Yes mummy, this is the best day of my life, I wish daddy was here," Mateo said, looking at his mother.
"Don't worry son, next time your daddy will be here with us," Kyle said, stroking her son's head when her phone rang.
Looking at her son she hesitated but Mateo said" Mummy, if it is an important call from the office, you can take it, don't worry about me."
"Mateo I am sorry, this was supposed to be a mummy and son time, I promise after this call, I won't take anyone's call again just wait for me, okay," Kyle said, kissing Mateo's forehead.
"Okay mummy," Mateo replied smiling
Kyle moved to a quiet place to answer her call." Hello sir, I told you I can't come to work today, my son needs me."
"Kyle, come in right now or you'll lose your job." Her boss said.
"I don't care anymore sir, you can do whatever you like," Kyle said angrily.
Kyle was still on the phone when Mateo noticed a balloon man passing.
"Mummy, I want one." Mateo pointed at the balloon but got no reply from his mother so he started following the balloon man. A car was coming towards the path where Mateo was walking. Alyana who noticed quickly ran and saved the kid from getting hit by the car.
Kyle finished talking to her boss, as she turned around, she didn't find Mateo on the swing. Panicking, she started yelling his name until she noticed people were gathering in someplace. She sprinted to the place and saw a lady dusting her son's cloth.
"Mateo, are you hurt? Mummy is so sorry, please forgive me." Kyle said in tears, patting him.
"I am okay mummy please don't cry, I am also sorry for leaving when you told me not to go anywhere," Mateo replied, wiping his mother's tears away.
"Son, promise me you won't ever do that again, I don't think I can survive without you in my life," Kyle said, hugging Mateo tightly.
"I promise mummy," Mateo replied, hugging her back.
After all the crying and hugging, Kyle stood up to thank the person who saved her son's life.
"Thank you so much for saving my son's life, what can I do to repay you, I owe you my life," Kyle said, looking at Alyana.
"No problem at all, you owe me nothing ma, I am just pleased the boy is safe and out of danger," Alyana replied. Kyle noticed Alyana was looking at her strangely like she got something on her face and then she heard Alyana mumbling"This face looks familiar".
"Kyle Johnson." She heard making her look up in shock.
"How do you know my name? Wait, this face also looks familiar, Alyana Edmund." Kyle said, looking at Alyana.
"Wow, what a small world, it's been 10 years since I last saw you, how have you been?" Alyana asked, hugging Kyle.
"You are now a grown-up woman now, you were like 12 years old the last time we saw each other. I have been doing great, Alyana, married with a son as you can see." Kyle replied, smiling.
"I am happy to hear that, forgive my manners, Kyle, this is Oliver Rodriguez, a very talented chocolatier and a friend of mine, Oliver this is Kyle Johnson, is the granddaughter of papa's former business partner. Kyle's family owns a chocolate company also." She explained introducing them to one another.
Kyle brought her hands forward for a handshake"Kyle smith now, married to Leonardo smith." She said smiling.
"It is nice meeting you and I know your husband," Oliver replied, shaking her hand back.
"I see." She replied turning her attention back to Alyana "I would love to treat you to coffee or something nice Alyana but we have to get going."
"No worries Kyle," Alyana replied.
"If there is any way I can repay you Alyana, just say it. There is nothing more important than my son's life." Kyle said, still thanking Alyana.
"As I have said earlier Kyle, it is okay, I am just happy he is okay," Alyana replied, stroking her hair backward.
"Thank you so much Alyana, Mateo, say thank you to Aunty," Kyle said, looking at Mateo.
"Thank you Aunty for saving my life," Mateo said, hugging Alyana.
"Your welcome kid, be a good boy and take care of mummy. Kyle, stop thanking me and get going already." Alyana let out.
"Bye Alyana and Oliver, see you guys soon," Kyle said before leaving.
After Kyle left, Alyana turned to look at Oliver who was staring at her with a frown.
She knew she was about to get scolded for what she did but couldn't help but smile at the way Oliver looked dramatic.
He sure knew how to make her heart race without making an effort.
