The gateway

Alora POV

Wow.. it actually dissappeared, and we are all shocked, none of us moving or dare move our eyes. Afraid if we did, we would miss something.

It was beyond weird to see something disappear from your eyes and just have a rope floating off into the air, to nothing.

Looking where the rope finished, it looked just like the forest that surrounded us. There is no way anyone that isn't supposed to find it would.

After a few minutes, Liam cleared his throat, snapping our attention to him.

He looked as amazed as we did and was clutching the rope so tight that his knuckles were white.

"Ok, I'm just going to put this out there, but... this is freaky, " Poppy said, still looking wide eyed, she was shaking a little bit with fear, so I walked to her and held her hand "hey sis everything is going to be ok.. ill look after you ok, " Liam said, and I could feel her relax a little.

I give her hand a reassuring squeeze and then look at Liam and nod to say we were ready. Kylie also joins us, holding Poppy other hand.

"Ok, here goes," he said, then pulled. There looked like there was a little resistance but not much, and then just as fast as the bag disappeared, it reappeared. After the initial shock, we all burst into laughter, and Poppy was between laughing and crying. "Well, this just got serious," Kylie said, and she wasn't wrong about that. Things really have taken a step up. "Ok first hurdle was finding it" I say quietly thinking about what it is we are going to find "yeah Lori is right, the next step is going through there" Liam said pointing at the gateway "I'll not lie I'm afraid, we don't know what will be waiting for us when we go through or when we reach our destination" Kylie said sadly and to be honest I'm feeling the same way.

"What ever we do find can't be as bad as we have lived with over the years and I for one am sick of being a victim, a person that only knows pain and hurt except the happiness and love from you guys.. I want more I want to belong somewhere and be happy WE all deserve better" Liam said with tears in his eyes and I could see how determined he was "your right Liam we can face anything together like always" I said and we group hugged for a few minutes and I loved it, this was us against everything as usual and that's what will get us through it.

We came up with a plan. Well, Liam had, and he was adamant that he would go first to make sure the coast was clear. We didn't really have a choice in the matter, but we compromised that he was going first he would go through just like the bag, with a rope tied around him.

We were ready and we all hugged him but I wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do, I should go I'm the oldest but when I said so, he cut me off and said he wouldn't let me enter anything he couldn't see past because there could be danger. With how he holds himself and treats us, you would have thought he was the oldest.

"Please be careful," Poppy whispered with tears falling from her eyes. He nodded ok, and he went closer to the gateway and took a very deep breath before disappearing into it.

My heart started beating erratically, and I could feel my temperature rising it was only when he reappeared smiling. I released the breath I hadn't realised I was holding.

"Wow it's amazing" he said smiling looking at us all with something that shone in his eyes that I've never seen before, maybe this is the happy child Liam, the way his eyes were always meant to shine.

Looking at him now made me even angrier at the person who stole us, robbed us of our families and happiness. One thing I knew for sure is we would find the person responsible, and they would pay.
