LUCIEN
I was present at the board meeting but my mind was somewhere else. I couldn't help but be bothered by Diane’s words. Why won't she understand me?
One minute it's easy to get through her and the next, she's throwing a fist. It's just so hard to get through to her.
I'm not crazy yet she insists that I am. I also do not want this. It's all the moon goddess plan and yet I have to convince her.
"Excuse me, sir."
The voice of my secretary snapped me back to reality.
"Yes," I answered.
"Mr. Fred is done with his presentation and he asked for your opinion," she whispered to me and I adjusted myself on the seat.
I barely paid attention so, of course, I didn't listen to all that he said except for the first few sentences he made which made sense.
"Send the summary to my office, I will conclude and get back to you all," I replied and got up from my seat, buttoning my jacket as I walked out of the room.
I entered my office and closed the door. I have never been this bothered before. It's driving me insane. Besides having to convince Diane that I am not mad and she's my mate, there is also a lot of convincing to do with my pack.
It's forbidden for a wolf mate to be human and worse an alpha of a pack and I did have my doubts when I began to dream about Diana. There was no way, I told myself but then I ended up meeting someone from another realm; a seer.
I did not know what happened and how I had suddenly found myself in an unknown realm. In that realm, everyone was putting on a white dress and they were barefooted.
The place seemed peaceful, it was peaceful and full of harmony.
At first, I thought it was a dream but found out that it wasn't a dream. I had gone there through my dream because of my questions.
That was where I met Chauncey for the first time. He had explained to me that indeed it was forbidden for a werewolf to have a human mate but it's no longer and Diane is indeed my mate. He didn't say much again but his last words to me before I came back to the real world were; I have a long way to go and a lot of enemies to battle and only if I stand firm will I win the battle ahead of me.
I snapped out of my thought when I heard a knock on my door. I ran a finger through my hair as I exhaled deeply.
"Come in," I said.
I have to concentrate on my work and deal with Diane when I get back to the mansion because if I kept thinking about her, I wouldn't be able to do anything.
I just couldn't help but think about her. Her red hair cascaded on her shoulder and her plump lips. I mentally scolded myself for thinking of her when I am supposed to not.
Keep your cool Lucien, keep your cool. I mentally said to myself.
"Long time no see Lucien."
I lifted my face to meet the eyes of Emily, my ex-girlfriend, and the woman my parent's family wants for me.
She was still holding the handle of the door as she entered my office unannounced.
She looks dashing as ever with her long blonde her and one million dollars smile that never left her face. Emily was blessed with the looks and the height and a perfect body which is why she is suited for her role as a model.
She's a supermodel and she's well known too.
I haven't heard from her for two months now when she went to Paris for a fashion show.
She closes the door and walked closer to me, taking her step one at a time and her heels making little sounds. The relationship between I and Emily is complicated.
It's not as if I cannot explain it but then I can't at the saw time. There is just something about her that I couldn't resist most times while the other times I did.
"Did you miss me? From the looks on your face, I'd take it as if you did miss me." She uttered, now seated on my desk not fully because her legs were still touching the floor.
"How have you been? Won't you say anything to me?" She asked, her voice sounding sultry, something she's very good at and knows when to use.
"You can't fall for that Lucien," my wolf Lyall said to me.
I would stand firm on it and not fall for it. I have my mate in my life and after being able to convince her, we will finally be one. I cannot f**k things up with Emily.
Emily leaned down and pulled me closer to her by my tie. She bit on her bottom lips lightly and I couldn't help but let out a throaty groan while staring at her red lips.
"What are you doing here?" I managed to say and swallowed the lump that formed in my throat.
"I've missed you." She replied.
"How about you? Did you miss me as I missed you?" She whispered, staring into my eyes as if wanting to convey something to me and I glanced away, reaching to give in to my needs as I felt my pants tighten.
There's just something about Emily that I cannot see resist.
"I know you have a boner right now. I can help you. We can help each other after all, sooner or later we will be one," she said to me.
There is nothing like we will be one. No one in my pack knew I found my mate. I was yet to reveal to them simply because I wanted to make everything work out well before telling everyone.
Diane was yet to believe me and I was anticipating the next full moon to prove to her that I am indeed not mad and werewolves exist and I am one.
I feel bad for locking her up and keeping her against her will but until I can prove to her, I won't let go of her.
I dropped an anonymous message to her parents assuring them that she was fine and she'd be back safely. I feel so bad about everything but all of this wouldn't have been so complicated if she believed me but she doesn't and then she has feelings for one teenage human.
"I do not have a boner. You do not know that" I said in a stern tone but she doesn't seem to believe it as her brow rose slightly and she smirked.
"Are you sure?"
She leaned closer and I could feel her breath fanning all over y face. "I know you missed me Lucien and I'm here. You know I'm yours and you can always have me," she tells me, her eyes boring deep into mine.
I closed my eyes while I take in a deep breath and exhaled deeply. I held her both wrists with my hand and took her hand off.
"I do not need your help, Emily," I told her, trying my best not to be rude.
Emily and I go way back and she's a friend to me. She's someone I grew up with and someone I once confided in but all of that changed when I left for the first time and came to middleton.
She stared at me frantically. She blinks her eyes. I'm sure she's surprised that I resisted her without letting her at least kiss me because I always ended up doing that before resisting her.
For someone who has found their mate, I do not understand why I can't seem to resist Emily sometimes. There is something about her I was yet to understand.
"What's wrong Lucien? Why are you doing this? I thought we've passed this?" She uttered, folding her arms across her chest as she waited for me to reply.
"Emily now is not the time for this and I thought I made it clear to you the last time," I reminded her.
"Reminded me of what?" She scoffed.
"You know what? I can't believe you. I don't understand what's up with you," she huffed.
"What don't you understand? I thought I made it clear and besides you..."
"Don't even get started Lucien," she cuts me off, standing back on her feet.
"It was all fine. We were doing fine. We didn't care about anything and suddenly you've lost interest? You are not a kid and you don't have a mate and I don't see a problem if we both make things official between us after all we were happy with each other and everyone in the pack did too. You need a Luna as the Alpha of the pack and I am fit for that position. You know that I know that and the pack too," she expatiates and I run my finger through my hair, unsure of what it is that I can say to her.
How do I tell her I found my mate? How do I tell her I know my mate and my mate is with me now? Just how when Diane is not willing to accept me.
