Davina was seriously reading the information when Dave walked up to her and jeered, "Look, I know you're trying to establish the fact women aren't that weak and also establish your dominance here but I must tell you the truth, you shouldn't overwork yourself. Let's just father some facts, construct some believable lies and feed it to the public and watch the public thank us" Davina tore her eyes away from the desktop screen and glanced at Dave. She stared silently at him for some seconds before shaking her head. "You weren't like this." she muttered lowly but Dave's ears got the words. He frowned, a look of displeasure gracing his face. "What is that supposed to mean?" He asked, obviously vexed. Davina didn't allow the change of tone to deter her. She said, "I've met you so many times Dave but I'm not surprised you don't recognize me because I often peek at you." "I'll tell you a short story. One day, a certain 10 year-old left the house on a walk and runs into a group of bad guys. Obviously, she had caught them doing something wrong. In order to get her to shut up, they chased and caught up with her. They threatened to kill her if she said a word to anyone. She had fearfully agreed, cowering in fear at a corner but surprisingly, before the girl left, she heard another boy walk up to them and show them something from his pocket they had cowered in fear and when one of them tried to act stubborn, he was knocked out." "Later on, she caught in a train station where he was making enquired about a certain man. The man had gone missing some days ago and a search party was set in place to find him. The boy had wholeheartedly decided to participate highly disregarding the fact he was nothing but a kid." "Now, tell me. How could a kid who was so enthusiastic towards the law and often wanted to bring everyone to justice at a you g age suddenly turned cold hearted now grown up?" The question poked a scar which had been covered a long time ago opened. Dave's eyes turned red and he yelled angrily at her, "You have no idea what people go through? You're just a woman! Woman are too fragile. Whenever you hold them you're always afraid they'd break. What do you know?" Davina listened to him spout nonsense. He raged on for a few minutes, his voice becoming hoarse, harder and louder as the time ticked by. Successfully, he drew a lot of attention towards them. Seeing the posture of the two, other colleagues wondered what the problem was. Davina on the other hand had a cool smile on her lips while the man opposite her was already red from anger. Davina didn't interrupt him until he finished with his accusatory questions, none of which made sense. "I'm not trying to say anything or tell you that you've turned out for the worse. All I said was that you've changed. Why do you look and sound so aggrieved like though I'm accusing you of murder." She added kindly, a smile still on her lips. Dave shut his eyes and opened them, he glared angrily at the people staring gossiply at them. This was the police force and juicy things like colleagues quarreling rarely happened. The all paid attention so they could get something to talk about when the show ended. Being scowled at by Dave, they all sighed and turned their attention back to their respective works, fully aware the show had ended.
