"Sometimes you will never know the VALUE of a moment, until it becomes a memory."
~ Dr. Seuss
Chapter Four
Davina excused herself from the table that her family sat along with another family during the dinner, her cheeks aching from the amount of pressure she was forcing onto the muscles as she smiled politely at everyone.
Davina wanted nothing more than to go home and go to sleep. Due to her pregnancy she felt herself feeling more tired and wanting to sleep more than do anything else. She was exhausted and having to put on a fake smile for everyone around her was taking up all the energy she had.
Davina walked into the empty bathroom that was in the kitchen, the LED lights blinding her as they reflected off the marble floor and counter. She closed her eyes and leaned against the door as she took a moment to collect herself.
Today's events were definitely taking a toll on her and exhausting her. Normally on her days off she didn't have a lot of stress and she could actually sit down and relax but it seemed like Davina had pissed God off and now she was paying for her actions and was stressed like no other. She shouldn't have gone to Target today and she shouldn't have even gone to this stupid dinner today because the only thing she could think about since she arrived was the fact that Petra's pregnancy timeline didn't add up but more importantly Davina shouldn't have continued on sleeping with Elio. If she would have actually used her brain she would have realized that adultery is a sin and it's wrong of her to sleep with a married man.
"Is the baby making you sick?" A voice startled Davina making her jump and open her eyes, her right hand coming up to her beating heart.
"Elio, you scared me," Davina awkwardly laughed as she placed her hand on the door handle. "I'm sorry I didn't realize that this bathroom was occupied."
Seriously, what was up them and bathrooms?
"Its fine, I was just about to leave anyway. You look sick, do you need anything? I can help you up to one of the guest bedrooms." He offered taking a step closer but she lifted her hand shaking her head.
"I'm alright, I'm just feeling overwhelmed and stressed that's all." She said shaking her head turning the handle of door.
"That isn't safe for the baby," Elio said his eyebrows furrowing as he looked at Davina with concern.
For a moment Davina wanted to go up to him and hug him to release the emotions she was feeling like she used to before everything happened. There was just something about Elio that made Davina feel like she was special, that she meant something. Whenever she was stressed or sad, Elio would wrap his abound her and hold her close until her mind went to ease and she was calmer and happier. Davina missed that and wanted that back but reality hit her and those feelings quickly vanished and she realized what she was thinking.
"I don't see why that concerns you, you've made it clear that we don't matter to you Elio."
"That's not true, I do. I love you Davina-"
"If that's true then why wont you be here for me and the baby? You know what, if you love me like you really say you do Elio then help me. Take responsibility and help me raise our baby."
Elio doesn't say anything he just gave her a sad look and shifted his gaze down to the floor his hands laying perfectly still at his side.
Davina scoffed shaking her head. "Exactly Elio, you don't love me and you never did. I was just a piece in your little game. Well I quit Elio, find somebody else to join for round two."
Elio doesn't say anything as Davina opened the door allowing the sound of distant music and laughter to fill the quite atmosphere.
Davina didn't look back at Elio as she left the bathroom nor did she go back to the hall where everyone was littering around and talking to one another. Instead she walked out the front door and ordered herself an Uber home not wanting to stay at The Russo's for a moment longer.

"Want to know what I miss?" Maria asked as she concentrated on not messing up her toe nails as she painted them a light lavender color that she found at the bottom of Davina's nail polish drawer.
"Seeing Mr. Romney's face everyday?"
Alice hummed as she painted her toe nails a baby blue color as she thought of their history teacher senior year.
Davina scrunched her nose up in disgust as she continued on eating her pack of Haribo Gummy Bears something that she has been craving the past couple of days. Shes already eaten three of the five pound bags and is already working on her fourth and it was only Tuesday.
"Ew no,"Maria said giving Alice a disgusted look to which Alice just shrugged. "He has no hair, always talked with a lisp and has coffee breath. What did you even see in him?"
"He was good at doing a scooby-doo impression."
Davina and Maria roll their eyes at Alice's explanation towards Mr. Romney not wanting to ask why that would be a good quality to look at.
"Anyway, as I was saying, I actually miss when the Team 10 House and the Logang were the only thing anyone ever talked about."
Davina gave her a weird look. "Um why? I thought you thought they were all annoying?"
"I still do, but I'm so sick and tired of hearing about stupid Chase Hudson and Charlie Damiliano and her sister. Like they're not even good looking or that cool. All they do is dance, they're worst than Team Ten at least they actually had somewhat of some talent." She said scrunching her nose up.
"It's pronounced D'Amelio and secondly don't hate them because you're jealous they're famous and you aren't. " Alice said to which Maria just responded by hitting her with a pillow making her arm move and get nail polish on her skin making her gasp. "You cumdumpster! Now I have to start over!"
Maria just stuck her tongue out at Alice and screwed the cap back onto her nail polish. Davina sighed as she wat had Alice pout about her toes now being ruined because Maria didn't know talent.
"I'm just saying life was so much easier back in that time I would go back if I could."
"Same," Davina thought as she closed the bag of gummy bears placing them down on the floor by the bed. "I would tell myself not to do half the s**t that I did."
"f**k for real! I would tell myself to convince my parents to switching me to Redwood elementary so I could meet Porter sooner." Alice exclaimed.
"We're talking about warning our past selves about what our future is like from our previous actions not to tell our parents to switch schools for a boy," Maria stated shaking her head at Alice in disappointment.
Alice rolled her eyes throwing the blue dyed cotton ball into the trash that was next to the bed- thanks to Maria and her habit of throwing her garbage onto the floor because she was too lazy to stand up and walk to a trash can. Alice now sitting cross-legged on the bed, leant over and grabbed some gummy bears from Davina who protested because she just closed the bag and it was for her child not Alice but Alice of course ignored her.
"I wouldn't want to do that how else are we supposed to learn from our mistakes if we didn't make them? Maybe we should start valuing the mistakes we make."
"Easy for you to say your life has been perfect since day one Alice, you've been with the same guy for ten years and haven't had your heartbroken once." Maria snapped shooting the blonde a glare.
Alice didn't say anything neither did Davina. Davina wasn't one from drama especially if the drama was between Maria and Alice. She loved both girls equally and valued them both and when they were fighting she stayed away until they could sort their issues out themselves mad she wouldn't have to be thrown into the awkward situation of having to pick sides. Now if the drama involved either Maria or Alice with another person, of course she was all ears and sitting on the edge of her seat but she still didn't get involved.
Maria and Alice may be friends but they still liked to bicker and try to have the better comeback. They were too of the same and they always had one another's back when the other got into a fight with another girl but if they were fighting each other it was like watching two lionesses fighting. Sometimes it was funny because they would say the weirdest s**t to one another trying to see who could say the best thing but sometimes it was a mess and they could go days without talking but thankfully it looked like this was one of those arguments that will be forgotten within an hour---- Davina honestly wouldn't know what to do if Alice and Maria didnt talk for awhile, the stress alone will have her up at night.
"Changing the subject, I found out that my doctors appointment is actually January fourth not February, don't really understand why I thought it was February." Davina said shaking her head as Alice and Maria nodded.
"I can still come,"
"Me too!"
Alice and Maria both said at the same time. Davina smiled nodding her head. Honestly she was grateful that she had Alice and Maria as her best friends they didn't care that Davina was pregnant with a married man's baby nor did they care when she was sleeping with Elio, they stayed by her side and showed her what true friendship looked like and she wouldn't change that for anything. She didn't need Elio to help raise this baby she had all the support she needed.
All her expectations for Elio were all erased when he chose Petra over Davina and their baby. Yes, he already had a baby on the way with his wife but he didn't have to go and react the way he did he could have definitely taken a different route but instead he decided to be a d**k about the whole thing and showed his true colors.
"I'm so excited! I hope you have a baby girl, ugh just imagine all the little girly things us four could do." Alice gushed falling back onto the bed a grin spread across her face.
Images of a little brown haired girl with green eyes flashed across Davinas mind and smiled at the thought of a daughter and nodded her head.
"I'd like to have a daughter but I'm not opposed to a little boy either." She pointed out. "My son would be one handsome little guy with a mother like me."
Maria and Alice both look at each other before they both burst out into laughter. Davinas mouth dropped open in shock as she stared at the two girls laughing like she was some clown in a circus.
"What? My son would be handsome," davina stated crossing her arms over her chest.
"We're not saying he wouldn't, but I'm sorry Davina if you have a boy he'll look like the spitting image of Elio and I'm sorry but all that handsomeness will come from him." Maria said to which Davina rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Yeah well the snapchat filter says otherwise." She responded sticking her tongue at the girls as a smile erupts on her face.
Honestly if she were to have a boy and he ended up looking like Elio she wouldn't mind. Elio was good looking and aside from everything that has gone down between Davina and him he was a good guy deep down and he had good qualities to pass on to this baby and no matter what her child ended up looking like and being like she will still love them with the same amount of love she felt for them now and they were merely only the size of a grain of rice.
"No matter what he or she become in the future I'll always love them and they couldn't do anything in the world to make me change my mind," Davina said placing her hand down on her stomach where a small bump was forming, a smile stretching at the thought of her baby growing.
Davina was scared at first to be pregnant due to the circumstances that are at play but as the days go on and she begins to realise who will always be by her side no matter what, she started to actually feel excited about having a baby.
Sure she didn't have the support of the father role and it was going to be hard raising a child on her own but she had people to help her out if she really needed it. She knows her parents were always going to be by her side offering a helping hand and supporting her every decision when it came down to her child and she knew that Maria and Alice could have ran out the moment she told them that she was still pursuing Elio (even though he was married) but they didn't they stuck by her side the whole time not an ounce of judgement appearing and now with the news of a baby entering the equation, they reacted with cheers and excitement.
Davina had so much love and support surrounding her that there wasnt going to be a way for her to fail as a mother. She'll protect and raise this child showing it the correct way to live which was to be true to yourself and others and not to hide behind a closed door, to not be prejudiced towards others and accept everyone for who they are and not what society wanted them to be. Davina didn't need Elio she had people that actually loved her.
Stepping back into reality, Davina stands up from the bed stretching her arms above her head, her eyes close as she stretches her body upwards u till she feels a satisfying pop crack down her back alerting her that she succeed into popping her back.
"Where are you going?" Maria asked noticing that she wasn't sitting back down on the bed and was instead walking towards the bedroom door across the room.
"I'm going to go get me something to eat."
"But you just ate half the gummy bear bag." Alice exclaimed staring at her wide eyed.
Davina stops at the door shrugging her shoulders as she gave them a smile. "I'm pregnant and craving dinosaur chicken nuggets."
"Ooh those are good." Alice and Maria both said as Davina nodded her head in agreement before walking out of the room.
"Should we tell her?" Alice whispered to Maria as they watched Davina walk down the hall humming a song.
"Nah, let's wait to see how long it takes for her to notice."
"You're evil." Alice giggled shaking her head.
Maria snickered as she zoomed up on the video she was recording of a clueless Davina walking down the hallway with a red gummy bear stuck to her butt.
