Six Weeks and Three Days later…..
Cheyenne’s P.O.V
It had been three years, six weeks and three days since I met Ace, not that I was counting and we were still going strong, we were still together, but I was hiding something huge from him, something that could make or break us. I had started to remember things and I had yet to tell Ace about any of it. I remembered dying and becoming a Moon Goddess, I remember the Moon Goddess telling me that she was sending me back, telling me that it would be my choice as to who I wanted to be with and I had done that, but now I remembered parts of my other life as well. I remembered Mercury and our children. I knew that I needed to see him, to talk to him, but it made me wonder how things would be. I mean he had a second chance mate and a child with her, so how would that work? Would I feel any love for him after all this time or would it be just like how it used to be? It has been a long time since we have been together and I had no idea what was going to happen or anything, but one thing I did know was that I needed to talk to Ace and tell him everything. I don’t want him to feel like I was leaving him because I had come to love him, even his heartless and ruthless side. I started to remember things when I saw him rip the head off a man that had hurt his sister by trying to break her and her mate, Victor, up. He had told Victor that he and Courtney had slept together, but when Ace saw his sister crying he ripped the guy’s head clean off his shoulders. It turned out it was all a lie, but I was human then and didn’t have any memories of how mates were then. I was still human and didn’t have a wolf, but if I wanted Ace to change me then it would be my decision. This was one of the choices the Moon Goddess had meant when she told me I would be able to make my own decisions in my life this time around and that’s just what I was doing. I took a deep breath as I knew that this was it, it was time for me to tell him everything, from when it all started to come back to me when he ripped that guy's head off. When that happened I had a flashback or a memory or something of another man doing the exact same thing and then I saw children, my children and my grandchildren, then I saw the daughter that Mercury had with his second chance mate, Holly. I saw the happiness they shared together and I saw what I knew was going to happen when someone saw me and told his mate, but Mercury also overheard. I don’t know how I saw this because I wasn’t there, but it was like the Moon Goddess herself had given me a vision of things that had happened to lead up to where I was now, but when I saw that part I knew that they would come to me and I knew that Ace needed to be prepared for everything that was about to happen. I walked into his office and he was on the phone, doing business with someone, so I waited for him to finish. After a few more minutes the call ended and Ace looked up at me, but as soon as he saw the look on my face he hurried over to me.
“Who do I need to kill, Cheyenne? Who made you feel this way?” Ace asked and I knew that he was serious. He really would kill anyone that made me unhappy.
“Just please sit down and hear me out, then once I’m done you can talk, okay.” I replied and he looked not only a little confused, but also scared. He did what I asked him to, but he never took his eyes off me, as if he feared I was going to disappear into thin air or something.
“Okay, I know that this is going to sound crazy, but please just listen to my story, okay.” I said and he nodded.
“Okay, go on.” Ace replied and so I did. I stood in front of Ace and told him everything, of how Mercury and I met, how we grew close and then became mates, how he had to turn me because I got stabbed at my first collection. I told him about our first child, Anna, then our second, Selena and finally the twins, Isaiah and Gabrielle. I told him the last story of Mercury and I, how he got stabbed and I gave up my heart to save his life, how I died and was given the choice of moving on and being at peace or becoming a Moon Goddess. I told him of the missions I was sent on in my role as a Moon Goddess and how I never appeared to Mercury in that form, even in the hard times because I wanted him to move on. I told him that Mercury now had a second chance mate and a daughter with her, but then I told him of the choice I was given to come back and have a second chance at life. All the time I was talking Ace’s eyes grew wider and wider, his mouth fell open and then closed.
“Before you ask, no, I haven’t been lying to you about who I was or anything else. I didn’t remember or know any of this when I met you. My memories were erased by the Moon Goddess as a condition to me returning and I only started remembering small things that made no sense to me three years ago, they were dreams at first and then little moments of deja vu, but then you killed that guy and I guess it triggered something because everything came flooding back to me all at once. It took me some time to sort through it all and at first I thought I was going mad, but then everything kinda clicked into place, if that makes sense. The Moon Goddess has let me make my own decisions through all of this, like who I want to date or be with and if you’re wondering if I’m going to run back to him then the answer is no, but I do need and want to go see my kids. I need to see if they are okay and how they are doing.” I said and then stopped talking. I waited for him to say something, anything, but no words left his mouth and instead he just got up from his seat and held me in his arms.
“I believe you, I trust you and I love you, but I honestly don’t know what I am going to do when I lose you to him.” Ace said and I was stunned.
“Ace, I’m not going anywhere. I love you, okay. You’re the one that I want to be with, but I need to see my kids. Will you make the call, please do this for me. I don’t want them to think that I have been here all this time and haven’t wanted to see them. Please do this for me.” I replied and he nodded. He picked up the phone and dialled a number, then I heard the phone ringing. This was it, this was where the s**t storm was going to start and possibly end too.
Mercury’s P.O.V
It had been a little over six weeks since we had spoken to Shane and Holly and I had been going stronger than ever. We had decided that neither of us were ready to go to the restaurant and see if it really was Cheyenne, so we kept putting it off and then we found out two days ago that Holly was pregnant again. It only took us nineteen years of trying to have another one, but now that it has finally happened we were both over the moon, excited and so, so happy. We were in the nursery picking out the colours we wanted when my cell phone started ringing. I looked at the screen and saw that it was Ace, which had me curious.
“It's Ace, I wonder what he wants?” I asked, but Holly shrugged.
“Maybe he needs your help with something.” Holly replied, flipping through colour charts.
“Maybe you’re right.” I said as I clicked the button and answered the phone.
“Hey Ace, long time no talk. What’s been going on with your life lately, is everything okay? If you need my help with something then just say the word and I’m there.” I said, but was met with silence. I thought that he had hung up, but then I heard him cough.
“Hey Mercury, buddy, I need you and your family to come to my house, we all need to talk about something that's very important. I need you all to come, your children and their mates, Hawk and Holly because this involves her as well.” Ace replied, making me even more curious. Why does he need my whole f*****g family and my mate to come to his house, I thought to myself, but decided to bite.
“Alright, so when do you want us to come?” I asked and although Ace didn’t know I was also mind-linking my children.
“Get to my house right now and I mean now. All of you.” I said, mind-linking them and using my Alpha voice.
“Yes sir, on our way.” They all replied and I ended the link as I returned to the conversation with Ace.
“How about now? You can leave now and be here in thirty minutes to an hour. I’ll see you when you get here and have dinner ready and waiting. This is very important, Mercury, so please come.” Ace said and he sounded distant.
“We’re on our way, man, don’t worry.” I said, wondering what was so important that he needed all of us to be there and just as I hung up the phone Selena, Anna, Isaiah and Gabrielle were standing in front of me.
“Dad, is everything alright?” Selena asked, looking just as worried as the others. I smiled and shook my head, not sure whether it was or wasn’t.
“I honestly have no clue. Ace just called, he wants us all to come to his territory and said he needs to talk to all of us about something very important.” I replied, shaking my head as I looked at my children and Holly.
“Okay then, well let's go.” Isaiah said, but I shook my head.
“He said all of us, your mates, your grandfather and Holly. Go get everyone and meet us out front, we’ll be leaving in ten minutes. I don’t know what is going on or what this is about, but I want every single one of you to be on guard and make sure that we don’t get attacked. Ace is just as ruthless as I am, sometimes even more so lately and I don’t want any reason to have to go to war with him, he is still our friend and ally. So let’s just get this over and done with and get back home, Holly doesn’t need to be out late in her condition.” I replied and they all nodded, leaving the room and going to get the others. Everyone knew that Holly was pregnant again and they were just as happy that our huge family was growing again. I held my hand out to Holly and she took it, following as I led her out of the nursery and down the stairs to the front door of the pack house.
“I hope this isn’t anything bad, I mean Ace hasn’t called for a meeting or something like this before, has he?” Holly asked and I shook my head.
“No, never, so whatever it is must be not only important like he said, but it must also be life changing.” I replied, cautious about what this could be. Ten minutes later everyone else had arrived and we all got into two huge black SUVs and headed towards Ace’s territory, but the whole time I had this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, like something bad was going to happen.
