chapter 7 curiosity

Edited. Mercury’s P.O.V My family and I were all at the new restaurant and I must say I was very impressed. We were seated at a table upstairs and I could see everyone that was here, but I could also smell them. There were werebears, werecats, werewolves, a few dragons and even humans, but none of them were looking for trouble and instead just wanted to enjoy themselves while trying the food here. I was hoping to catch a glance at the human that was in charge, but as of yet I hadn’t seen her. I looked out the window that was next to us, noticing that something was being built and I couldn’t wait to see what it was going to be. The lights in this place were perfect, not too bright as to blind you, but not too dark that you couldn’t see who you were sitting with. The floors were kept clean and polished and the tables were laid out really nice. There were all different coloured tables, but I could tell that no expense had been spared as they were all marble, so they would definitely be hard to move. My family was all seated around me, eating and enjoying the food in front of them. Some had hamburgers, some had plain gator tail, while I had gator tail with ranch, shrimp and steak. The food was awesome and I would definitely be coming here again, but I just wish I had met the owner so I could pass on my praise of the food and thank them for opening up this place. Maybe soon I’ll come back and meet whoever this person was, but as of now all I know is that she’s a human and we all have to be careful how we talk and what we do. Some of us move faster than humans and have to slow ourselves down in order to fit in. After we had all finished our food, we left a big tip for the waitress that served us as she was constantly on her feet, running back and forth from our table, as there were so many of us. In the end we left her a one hundred dollar tip to show our appreciation and I was a little sad that we didn’t get to see the rest of this place, but we were all so full and wanted to head home. It had been a long night and by the time we finally left I think that we were the last ones there. We all piled into our cars and headed home, then once we got back we all went to the family room, where we talked for a bit before everyone headed home. This is one of the things that I missed about Cheyenne, she made sure that once a week all the family got together and just talked, seeing what was new with each of us. I shook my head as I tried to get rid of my thoughts. I was trying so hard to stop thinking about her and to just move on, like she had asked, but it was just too hard at times. Cara’s P.O.V I was in my house and I had noticed that Ace hadn’t come out of the pack house to do anything or talk to anyone all day, not even to talk to the guards and warriors. Something was up, something serious, but what could it be? Maybe he was missing me, maybe he regretted what he allowed his sister to do to me? I tried linking him a few times, just to see if he was alright, but I didn’t get a reply. As a member of his pack we could all link him because he was our Alpha and that b***h, Courtney, couldn’t stop me from talking to him that way, no matter how hard she tried. “Ace, I haven’t seen you out of the pack house all day, everything okay?” I asked, mind-linking him and hoping that he would reply this time. “Cara, stop linking me, I’m busy and I have work to do, so how about you go play.” Ace growled at me through the link. “I was just seeing if you were okay, asshole and I would rather play with you instead, Alpha.” I said and heard him snort at me. The link got cut off straight after that and it made me so mad that I threw a vase across the room, breaking it against the wall. “Cara, when will you learn that the only way to get him is through me? When we attack I will make you the leader of this awful pack. I just want to kill the Alpha and then you can do whatever you want with this pack, but until then chill the hell out.” Loft said, pulling me to him and kissing me hard. Loft’s P.O.V I wanted her and she knew I did, but all she could ever think about was that f*****g Alpha, Ace. she wanted him and not me, which pissed me off. I kissed her hard and then pulled away, ripping her dress open and throwing her on the bed. “Come and get it.” Cara said, smirking and opening her legs to me. Cara’s P.O.V I knew that Loft wanted to mark and mate me, claiming me as his, but this was all I could give him. I honestly wished that I had never slept with him in the first place because if I hadn’t then none of this would be happening right now. He wouldn’t want to kill Ace and I would have a shot at becoming Ace’s chosen mate. Courtney’s P.O.V I decided to get up and check on Ace, but when I walked out of my bedroom I noticed that his door was already open. Huh, he must be feeling better, I thought as I went to his office instead and sure enough there he was, sitting at his desk. “Hey, Victor called and said that he would be here tomorrow to talk over some business or plans with you. I was thinking that maybe I could take you and him to dinner at this new restaurant called Gator Tail, so make sure that you are better because if you’re not then you’re still going.” I said and Ace chuckled as he looked up at me. “Sis, it doesn’t matter, I was already planning on going, I just didn’t know when, but since you insist on me going tomorrow then we will be going. I want the gator tail because I have heard that it’s pretty good.” Ace replied and I walked further into the office, sitting down in the chair in front of his desk. “So brother, let's talk. I have heard that if a mate isn’t feeling well or is hurt then the other half will feel it too. You may not have found your mate yet, but you were feeling something because one day you were fine and then boom you didn’t feel good, so something is up there.” I said, hoping that he would understand. “Courtney, you are always up in my business, but that is just a myth. If it were any more impossible then it would be a miracle. Now come on, we have more pressing things to talk about than why I was feeling ill.” Ace said and I nodded, knowing that he wouldn’t listen about it anymore. “Fine, what do we need to do?” I asked, curious as to what he was talking about. “It’s been a year since the last time and we need to get all the she-wolves together so that I can see if any of them are my mate, but until then we will be going out to eat first, they can wait.” Ace replied and I chuckled. “Anything to do with food and you will go nuts over it, my brother.” I said and we both started laughing. I got up from my seat and walked out of his office, glad that my brother was feeling better. I wonder if that means his mate, whoever she is, is feeling better as well? I can’t wait to see who she is and maybe we will both be shocked when it's revealed. I just hope that she will be able to deal with his crazy side and his ruthless side because sometimes he can be so ruthless that it even sends shivers up my spine.
