chapter 6 feeling sick

1847 Words
Edited. Cheyenne’s P.O.V I woke up this morning with a huge headache, feeling sick and my stomach was in knots, but I didn’t know why. This was the first time I had ever felt ill like this and the only thing I could think of was that it must be something I had eaten or drank. I know I came home last night and ate a sandwich, but I also drank a glass of milk too, so maybe that was it. I slowly got up because if I moved too fast it made me feel dizzy and then I would feel sicker. I went into the kitchen and looked in the ice box, pulling out the lunch meat that I had eaten last night and checking the date, but it was fine and still in date. The next thing I checked on was the milk, so I pulled out the gallon of milk and just as I suspected it had expired, which I should have known because it had tasted funny last night, but I thought it was just me. I took my phone from my pocket and called Yara, needing a favour. “Hey Yara, I know that the new staff are in today, but I’ve got food or rather drink poisoning from expired milk and won’t be in today. Can you train them and show them the ropes please, then I’ll see them tomorrow.” I said, suddenly feeling sick again. “Yes sure, I hope you feel better soon.” Yara said and I quickly ended the call before running to the bathroom again. I washed my hands, rinsed my mouth and brushed my teeth when I was finished then went back into the bedroom and laid down on my bed. I still felt really sick, but I needed to get rid of that milk before I did anything else, so I went back into the kitchen and poured the milk away, then threw the jug in the trash. I laid back down on the bed even though I wasn’t really tired, just drained from being sick, plus I was so used to being at work, so being in bed when I was supposed to be at work was boring, so I pulled out my laptop. I turned on the cameras that were at work and took a look at what was going on. None of my staff knew about these cameras and I had them installed just in case I was at home or unable to come in, like today, but it’s a good job I did because it was the reason I was able to catch my previous assistant manager stealing money. Well, if I can’t be at work then at least I can see what is going on and see what areas need improvement and where things need to change completely. I watched all the cameras, making sure that everything was running right and thankfully the cameras were small enough that no one could see them, so much so that even I forgot that they were there at times. The cameras were spread out throughout every part of the restaurant except for the bathrooms because that was not only against the law, but it was also rude, an invasion of privacy and just plain gross, plus I wouldn't put them in there even if I was allowed to. I watched Yara training the new workers and she was doing an awesome job, so I turned the sound on to hear what she was saying, but the restaurant was so busy and noisy that I could only hear bits and pieces. Alpha Ace’s P.O.V I woke up not feeling too good this morning, which was really weird and I had no idea why. I even slept in and my sister woke me up, worried when she didn’t find me in my office. I sat up in my bed, still feeling a little weird and she came and placed her hand over my forehead, checking to see if I had a temperature or rather if I was feeling warmer than normal because as werewolves we often burned a little hotter than that of humans. “Hey, are you okay? You are never sick, big brother, what’s up with that?” Courtney asked, but I just shook my head. “I don’t know, I felt fine last night and then I woke up feeling sick, so I think I’ll be doing my work in bed today, but right now I’m going to go back to sleep. The work will be there tomorrow.” I replied and my sister chuckled. “Wow, you really must be sick if you’re taking the day off work, big brother. Don’t worry, I’ll handle the calls today and if there's anything that I can’t answer then I’ll write it down and tell whoever it is that you will call them back tomorrow. Get some rest, you need it.” Courtney said and walked out of my bedroom, closing the door behind her. I flopped back down on the bed and pulled the blankets further up, not wanting to move or do anything at all today. Courtney’s P.O.V After seeing my brother I remembered something that my mother had told me about mates, that if a mate is sick or hurt then the other could feel it and also become sick or hurt. Maybe that’s what is happening with Ace. I know he hasn’t found her yet, but maybe this is why he was feeling sick. s**t, I haven’t even found my mate yet, but hopefully I will find him soon. I walked down the hall to my right and went into my room, feeling a little tired too, but I didn’t want to sleep. The pack still needed to go on, even if Ace is sick. Maybe if he feels better tomorrow I’ll take him to that new place called Gator Tail, it should be good seeing as Yara is always talking about it. She told me that a human by the name of Cheyenne owns it and she came home asking if she could ask her cousins, Jack and Vale, if they wanted to work there. I didn’t see any reason as to why they couldn’t as long as they don’t reveal to the humans what we really are and anything about us. “Okay, just remember to not under any circumstances shift in front of her. We don’t need anyone passing out or going to the funny farm thinking that a human turned into a huge wolf.” I said, mind-linking Jack and Vale, reminding them of what not to do. “We won’t, we promise.” They both replied, mind-linking me back and I ended the link after that. I sat down on my bed, thinking that a small nap wouldn’t hurt, especially as I had my brother’s cellphone and if anyone called I would wake up and answer it. I had the guards come closer to the pack house, making sure that it was even more securely guarded as their Alpha was sick and then I laid down in bed. This is what I get for staying up until three in the morning watching movies. Yara’s P.O.V I invited two of my cousins, Jack and Vale, to come and work with me, but I had to train them up as well and Cheyenne was trusting me to do so. I put Jack in the small area to start out with and Vale just had three tables, plus they were each paired with a waitress and waiter. I had to make sure that they worked out and even though I know Courtney would have told them, I still reminded them not to shift because the boss was human. I ran through the rules with them and the consequences to breaking those rules, like if they broke anything then it came out of their paycheck and not to take over because they would get fired. I hoped that I had covered everything, but even if I didn’t I knew that Cheyenne would cover the rest when she got back and I hoped that when she got back they would be well trained. “Right then, you know the rules and you know what you're doing, just remember, no shifting. She’s human and humans come in here, but my boss doesn’t know about us just yet, so be careful.” I said and they both nodded. Courtney’s P.O.V I jumped up from the bed, startled. I hadn’t realised that I had been sleeping for so long and my brother's phone was ringing off the hook. I really hoped I hadn’t missed any calls while I was asleep or he would kick my ass. “Yeah, hello, Alpha Ace can’t come to the phone right now, he’s out training the warriors. Can I take a message?” I asked, answering the phone. Whoever was calling didn’t need to know that my brother was sick or it would be dangerous for the pack and if word got around then they would come and start a war, trying to overthrow my brother for his title. I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked at the screen, rolling my eyes when I saw who it was. Alpha Victor, the Alpha of the Blue Moon Wolf pack. He was just as ruthless as Ace was and not only did they go to school together, they also graduated school together as well. “Hey Courtney, let your brother know that I’ll be there tomorrow. We were supposed to go over some things together and I wanted to call and let him know that I am still coming.” Alpha Victor replied, making me think for a few minutes. What if Ace wasn’t feeling any better tomorrow? Maybe I could distract him while my brother tried to get himself together. I just hoped that my brother wouldn’t be mad at my idea, after all, it was to help him. “Hey Victor, yeah I’ll let him know, but I'm taking you both out to a new restaurant called the Gator Tail tomorrow.” I asked, hoping that he would agree. Alpha Victor’s P.O.V Did Ace’s sister seriously just ask me out on a date, but with her brother coming as well? That is just plain weird. I still haven’t found my mate yet and the last time I saw Courtney she hadn’t shifted just yet. She was only seventeen at the time and her eighteenth birthday was a few days after I left. It's been almost two years since I have seen her, so maybe I’ll take her up on her offer. A date wouldn’t hurt or would it? I thought to myself and then decided to reply. “Hmmm, alright, no problem, can’t wait. See you tomorrow.” I replied and hung up the phone, still unsure of whether I had done the right thing or not, but then again, I hadn’t actually agreed to a date, more a business meeting, right?
