Edited. Mercury’s P.O.V I was in the living room with my mate, Holly, just relaxing when I heard my son Isaiah come in through the front door. Isaiah walked into the living room and sat down next to me like he always does after he has done a job. Holly was sitting on the other side of me and I had my arm wrapped around her shoulders as we watched a movie, but I couldn’t really concentrate on it as I was thinking about what happened with our daughter. Flashback….. It was the day of our daughter, Rachel’s, first shift and I still couldn’t believe that she was nineteen years old. The shift and ceremony of welcoming and introducing her wolf to the pack went as smoothly as it could and she was a beautiful wolf. Her wolf had dark brown fur that had traces of gold in it when the light caught it. Everything was going well and as the night was coming to an end I saw Rachel sitting on her own, so I walked over and sat down next to her. “Hey kid, how are you doing?” I asked, bumping shoulders with her. “I’m okay, but I….I have something to tell you and I know that things will change.” Rachel replied, confusing me. She often spoke in riddles and I just put it down to her gift, but this time she seemed different, she seemed more cautious. “What is it? You know you can tell me anything, so what’s wrong?” I asked, getting worried. “Daddy, she is alive.” Rachel whispered, looking right at me. I went to ask her who she was talking about, but before I could she got up and left, going back into the pack house. She’s alive? Who the hell is she talking about, she’s alive? Who could it possibly be? I don’t know a woman that has passed away, except for Cheyenne, but she died twenty one years ago and there was no chance that she could be alive after all this time, so who is she talking about? I stood up and looked to see that everyone was walking back into the pack house or going home, so I shook my thoughts off and joined them. I walked into the pack house and heard laughing coming from the family room, so I went in and saw my mate, my children and grandchildren and my friends. This was it, this was everything to me. I have my mate, my kids and their mates, my grandchildren, what more could I ask for? I thought to myself, but then as I looked at my daughters, Selena, Anna and Gabrielle, I couldn’t help but think of Cheyenne. They looked so much like her and it was hard at times, although it had been twenty one years since she had died I still missed her. She was my first mate, my first love, my first everything and I would never forget about her. She still holds a place in my heart and always would, but I’m slowly getting over my mourning and Holly has stood by my side every step of the way. I love Holly with all of my heart, she is the second love of my life and it also helps that she understands what I am going through because she is still grieving for the loss of her mate, even though she rejected him after he cheated on her. It doesn’t matter because when that bond is formed, even if you have rejected them, when that person dies they take a piece of you with them and it takes time to get over it. Holly and I are so much alike, two lost souls that are trying to move on, but also deeply love each other. I shook my head as I walked into the family room and sat down with my family. We talked and laughed before going to bed and the next day Rachel left to search other packs for her mate. Flashback Ends…. I still thought about what Rachel had said, but I decided against asking her about it. For some reason I didn’t think it best to know what she meant just yet. looked at Isaiah as he sat next to me and I felt so proud of him for taking over being the Mafia Don and Alpha of the pack. I know that he still thinks of me as always being the King of the mafia, even though I had passed that title to him and to be honest he had been telling me that he wanted to step down from that title and just be the Alpha of the pack. He said that he didn’t like doing the jobs and I told him that he would learn to love it as time went on. “So son, how did it go tonight? Did you catch the asshole that gambled my money away?” I asked and he nodded. “I sure did, I snapped his f*****g neck. He didn’t have any of the money, it was all gone, but I did have an interesting talk with Ace. I made him the offer and he’s thinking about joining us, but you know how he is, he likes things his way without having to answer to anyone. I think that if I can get him to join us then we will be even more powerful and ruthless as ever. When I snapped Chain’s neck, Ace didn’t even flinch, he’s just as ruthless as you, dad.” Isaiah replied and I shook my head as I chuckled. “Son, there is no one as ruthless as me. I will rip someone's head off without even thinking twice about it, but listen, I’m taking the family to a new restaurant tomorrow night and it’s supposed to be really good there. It’s called Gator Tail, so hopefully they will have some gator tail there because I really want to try it.” I said and Isaiah nodded. “Yeah, it’s pretty good, I’ve had it before. Ava has made it for me a few times, but yeah, let’s go. I’ve heard about that place too and I know my sisters are pretty busy, but we can go if you want and we will get them to join us. I’m sure they can drop whatever they are doing for a family dinner.” Isaiah replied and I smiled. “Alright then, let’s do it.” I said, just as he got up from his seat. “Great, right then I’m going to head home. Ava should be waiting for me, she has cooked dinner, but hasn’t told me what it is, so now I’m curious.” Isaiah replied and both Holly and I chuckled as we watched him walk out of the living room to head back home. Although the girls all took after their mother, I noticed that Isaiah was the spitting image of me and he acted just like me as well, which I’m not entirely sure is a good or bad thing, but in time we will know for sure. “So, what are the plans for tonight?” I asked, turning to look at my mate. She smirked and opened her legs, showing me that she wasn’t wearing any panties. “Oh, you naughty, naughty girl.” I said, standing up and grabbing her. I picked her up and threw her over my shoulder, making her laugh as I ran up the stairs and straight to our bedroom. Selena’s P.O.V Rachel had just left after a short visit and she had left me gobsmacked and confused. She had told me that someone was alive, but she never said who it was or how they were alive. It had confused me so much, especially as now was not the time to be playing games. I was getting ready to train and needed a clear head, but just as I finished getting ready Axel came into the bedroom. “How about we sit this session out? I’m going to take you somewhere.” Axel said and I shrugged. “Yeah sure.” I replied, not really needing to train tonight, but I did want to get some stress out. I changed my clothes and put on my jeans and a pull over tan shirt before putting my hair up in a messy bun and putting my shoes on. I made my way downstairs and when I got there I saw that my siblings, Anna, the twins Gabrielle and Isaiah, also Goldie and grandpa Hawk. “What’s going on?” I asked and then Axel explained that we were going to the lake where my parents used to go and that we were going to lay flowers for our mother. They all knew that when she died I took it the hardest, but I was the eldest and got to spend more time with her than they did. I nodded and we left the house, heading to the lake and when we got there each of us threw flowers into the lake and watched as the water carried them away. “You know what I miss about mom, when she used to call us to have a get together and we would have a huge cook out with the families in the pack.” I said and Anna nodded. “I remember when I was young and got upset that she would sit me down and brush my hair. She would tell me that everything would be alright and to hold my head up because if I fell I had to get right back up.” Anna said, making me smile. We all talked about mom and what she was like and at the end of it I felt a little bit better, but I always knew that I would miss her. When Axel and I finally made it home I felt exhausted after all the talking and emotional support. I just wish mom was still here, but I know in my heart that she still is, she always will be. We were just about to head inside when I had a strange feeling of being watched, but when I turned around to see who it was there was no one there. I know what I felt and there was no way I was going to ignore my gut feeling, but I couldn’t see anyone to confront them. Unknown’s P.O.V Damn it, she almost saw me. I need to be more careful. I need to see when they leave again and then I’m going to have some fun in that house. Axel will rue the day that he kicked me out, he will know who I am and never forget me.
