Episode 4

“CAI, the scent is getting weaker.”

Cairen’s speed slowed down upon hearing what Hercules stated. Seryoso niya itong tiningnan hanggang sa mapatigil siya sa pagtakbo kaya naman maging sina Deine at Hercules ay napatigil rin. They’re still in the middle of the woods.

“What do you mean? You have smelled his blood and scent back there, right? On the road outside the woods,” Kunot-noong tanong niya rito at may kutob siyang may kinalaman ang mga Faux kung nasaan si Nixon ngayon.

Hercules just nodded, “Yeah, but it got weaker. Where are we going? Are we going back to your mansion or to the Faux?”

Cai didn’t answer but think thoroughly. Napalayo ang tingin niya. He’s analyzing the situation. He thinks that the Faux has something to do with this but he trusts Hercules’ smelling ability. He knows the Faux, he knows Jett Faux who’s the leader of the family. They’re violent and terrific. Although he knows that Jett wouldn’t dare to lay a hand on Nixon, Cai’s still aware that Jett’s holding some grudge against him.

Alam naman niya na kasalanan rin ng kapatid niyang si Nixon na nauna itong nakipag-away sa mga Faux, and Jett being the leader of the Faux family could hurt Nixon in return, but that could be a cause of war between the two families. Cai thinks that Jett wouldn’t do something reckless as that. It’s just Nixon and it could still be called a child fight.

Cairen heaved a sighed. He needs to calm down, but every time he thinks that Nixon’s injured at the moment, he can’t help but to feel upset and worried.

Matalim ang tingin niyang tinapunan ng tingin sina Deine at Hercules na halatang naghihintay sa susunod niyang sasabihin, “Let’s go straight to the Faux.”

Deine gulped but Cairen just turned his back and started to run in speed again as if showing that he doesn’t want to hear anyone’s suggestion against his decision.

“I told you that I can no longer smell Nixon here, let me locate him by myself. Isn’t that what you called me for?”

He didn’t even took a glance at Hercules.

“Then why you didn’t tell me anything earlier? You could’ve go and tried to locate him anywhere. Bakit ka sumama sa’kin?”

Hercules just sighed and glanced at Deine who looks so worried.

“Your sister is worried that you might get out of control, and I also felt that the Faux might have something to do with this, but as we gone farther form the sport where Nixon might have been shot by a bullet— his scent got weaker and weaker that made me think that he’s nowhere here,”

Cai once again stopped from running. Hinarap niya si Hercules at Deine.

“I know what I’m doing. Now, tell me if you can locate Nixon, go back to the spot earlier and try to track his scent, can you do that?” Seryosong aniya kay Hercules.

Hercules just nodded, “I could, but—

“We’re looking for Nixon, and you don’t really have to worry a thing about me. I can handle myself. I will not bear my pangs.”

Tumingin siya kay Deine na nakatingin lang sakaniya, “Go with Hercules,” Pag-utos niya rito.

“But Brother—

“No buts, Deine. Go now. I’ll go to the Faux Mansion by myself, I’ll talk to them.”

Mabilis na napailing-iling si Deine, “You’re turning 500—

“Just.do.what.I.said.” Cai glared at Deine that made Deine to put in silence. Hindi na ito nakaimik nang makaramdam ng takot mula sa kapatid.

Cai just nodded at Hercules, “Go.”

Hercules just sighed and nodded back at him, “Let’s go, Deine.” Aya nito kay Deine.

Deine was still feeling hesitant but she can’t do anything when it’s her brother’s order. Akmang aalis na sila ni Hercules nang biglang kumaluskos at magsisulputan ang mga kapatid mula sa kung saan.

Gulat ang mukhang tinapunan ni Deine ng tingin isa-isa ang kapatid.

“Oh good heavens! We finally found you.” Dumako ang tingin ni Deine kay Marcus at Wendy na lumapit kaagad kay Cai.

Cai glared at Marcus and Wendy, “What happened? I told you to contact the Faux Mansion.”

Wendy nodded with a straight expression, “We did, and they told us that Nixon’s not with them and they’re telling the truth. Nixon ran away after the fight with their youngest,”

Lumalim ang tingin ni Cai sa narinig habang nakatingin ng seryoso sa mukha ni Wendy, “They might be lying.”

Namayani ang katahimikan sa ilang saglit habang magkatitigan sina Wendy at Cai na pawang inuusisa ang sitwasyon. Wendy looked away from Cai’s gaze. She can’t stand it, she’s intimidated.

“Nixon wasn’t able to hurt anyone of their family. They won’t try to hurt him knowing that he’s from the Vita Clan. They could, but they also needs to think carefully. Starting a clan war just because of mere child fight. Jett Faux’ more reasonable than that,” Marcus suddenly stated that made Cai to diver this gaze on him.

Cai remained silent. Dumako ang tingin niya kay Hercules at seryoso itong tiningnan.

“Lead the way,” Aniya rito.

Hercules just nodded and turned into a wolf.

“Let’s go back to the spot where Nixon was shot. I could locate him starting from there,” Litanya nito at mabilis na tumakbo pabalik sa pinanggalingan nila.

Kaagad naman silang sumunod sa likod nito.

Even though Cai still thinks that Faux might be the one who hurt Nixon, Cai trusts Marcus’ instincts. He is never wrong when it comes to thinking at times like this. He will trust his hunches.

He still a lot of work to do, but here he is, finding their youngest and stubborn kid of the Vita Family. His family really do knows when to cause a mess. He will make sure that Nixon will get a real lesson this time, but first of all, they need to find him alive and kicking.
