Reni was seen running through the thick forest in an attempt to escape from the angry Mazubians who had been dispatched by the leader of Mazuba to go after her, recapture her or kill her.

Reni fell near a very deep pit and looked back, saw the men were almost upon her and began to cover the surface of the pit with palm fronds. At a point she stopped, ran across the pit and continued running. The men who were after Reni were approaching the pit with their eyes directly on her when two of them accidentally fell into the pit with their horses. Others ran across it and continued to pursue her.

Down the cliff, Adaeze let go of the sword and walked up to Chaze who was now seated on the ground and holding his wounded left arm. "What was that all about?" Chaze asked, having seen how Adaeze killed the rest of the Mazubians. "Get up on your feet" Adaeze commanded. Chaze painfully stood up and stood before Adaeze. "Do you wish to kill me?" Chaze asked.

"I wouldn't answer that if I would" said Adaeze.

"I don't deserve to live but all I did I did for you" said Chaze. Adaeze grabbed him by the neck and began to push him backward. Chaze stumbled on a rock and fell and Adaeze mistakenly fell on him. Chaze held her and she wanted to struggle out of his arms. "Why in a hurry" said Chaze. Adaeze slapped him so hard and sprang on her feet, picked her sword and pointed it towards him. "Get up and shut up!" Chaze got up and continued to look at her. The blood coming out of his arm was becoming severe and he was loosing consciousness. Adaeze realised this and lowered her sword. Chaze's eyes began to close uncontrollably. Just then he fell, hitting his head on a rock he passed out.

Reni had reached the river side and had to stop. The soldiers from Mazuba were almost upon her on their horses. She knew she would suffer terribly if they were to catch her. She jumped into the river and was swept away. When the Mazubians reached the river side they got down from their horses and one of them looked into the river and shook his head, "I'm not entering that water" he said.

"Why Sir?" Asked another.

"You ask that? Who knows not that anyone who enters the jerh river will have only one year to live. If she entered the river then she is as good as dead. We should  report her demise" the leader of the soldiers spoke again and mounted his horse.

Down the cliff, Adaeze was now attending to the wounds of Chaze. She still could not believe she was attending to his wounds. Chaze was still unconscious.
