Chapter 15: An Elusive Meeting

As the end of the week approached, Ella couldn't shake her growing sense of unease about her relationship with Victor. She had been hoping for a chance to talk and reconnect, but every attempt had been met with obstacles and distance.

With a hopeful heart, she decided to text Victor once more, hoping to set up a meeting to address their growing rift. Her message read, "Victor, I really need to talk and spend time together. Can we meet soon?"

After a long wait, Victor's response finally came, and it was disheartening. "Ella, I'm currently out of the city with some personal commitments. I'm not sure when I'll be back."

Ella's heart sank as she read his message. The growing distance between them had now reached a point where Victor was physically absent as well. She felt a mix of frustration, sadness, and confusion, unable to understand why he was pulling away when she needed him the most.

Ella's growing concerns about Victor's distant behavior weighed heavily on her mind. She knew she needed someone to confide in, someone who could offer perspective and support. Sarah, her trusted friend at work, was the person she turned to once again.

During a quiet moment at the office, Ella approached Sarah with a heavy heart. "Sarah, I don't know what's happening with Victor. He's been so distant lately, and I'm starting to question if he's as committed to our relationship as I am."

Sarah, ever empathetic, listened attentively and offered her insight. "Ella, it's essential to have open and honest communication in a relationship. If you're feeling this way, it might be worth having a conversation with Victor about your concerns."

Ella sighed, her voice filled with uncertainty. "I want to talk to him, Sarah, but every time I've tried, he seems so distant and elusive. I don't even know when he'll be back in town."

Sarah offered a sympathetic nod. "It's tough when you're not getting the communication and support you need. Maybe it's time to take a step back and reevaluate your priorities and what you want from a relationship."

On the other hand, Friday morning arrived fast and with it also her appointment with the doctor, and as she sat in the examination room, she couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and relief. The doctor entered the room with a warm smile, putting her at ease.

Doctor: (Kindly) "Hello, Ella. I’m Dr. Jonhson. How can I help you today?"

Ella: (Anxious, after a slight hesitation): "I had an unprotected intimate encounter, and I'm worried about potential health risks. I'm not sure what to do."

The doctor nodded understandingly and proceeded to discuss the situation with Ella, asking her questions to gather all the necessary information. After a thorough examination and discussion, the doctor decided to take samples for testing.

Doctor: (Reassuring) "Ella, it's essential that we conduct some tests to check for any potential concerns. We'll test for sexually transmitted infections and also take a pregnancy test."

Ella, though apprehensive, knew that this was the responsible course of action. She understood the importance of knowing her health status and the potential consequences of her actions.

Doctor: (Informative) "In the meantime, you told me you took the morning-after pill. It's effective in most cases when taken as soon as possible after unprotected intimacy. However, if your period is late, I recommend taking a pregnancy test."

Ella felt a sense of relief knowing that she was taking steps to address her concerns, and she thanked the doctor for her guidance and support.

Doctor: (Supportive) "Ella, remember that taking care of your health is paramount. We estimate that your results will be ready within 7 workind days, but our reception will notify you once they are available. In the meantime, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We're here to help you."

With a renewed sense of responsibility and a plan in place, Ella left the doctor's office, determined to take charge of her health and well-being.

As the days without Victor dragged on, Ella couldn't shake the feeling that her inexperience had disappointed him and played a role in his distance. She decided that when he returned to the city, she would make a surprise visit to him.

She wanted to erase the doubts and uncertainties that had clouded their relationship and replace them with a renewed sense of passion and understanding.

Finally, she settled on a plan. She will visit him at his place (or better said, ambush him), surprising him with his favourite take-away and an expensive bottle of wine. She knew that she needed to address the issues in their relationship head-on if they were to have any chance of making things work.

Ella would put extra effort into her appearance, choosing an outfit that made her feel confident and alluring. She visited his place only once, when he forgot his wallet and they had to pass and retrieve it. The stay was brief, as always Victor preferred her place to meet, as he always called it cozy and warm in comparison with his bachelor pad.

As she set her plan into motion, Ella couldn't help but feel a growing sense of excitement and anticipation. Despite being uncomfortable and disappointed after their intimate encounter, she read a lot and knew that each relationship needed a lot of work and compromise. She hoped that this surprise would not only rekindle their love but also provide a chance to address their issues and find a way to move forward together.
