“Zian!” Alden came running across the front lawn of the administration building towards the other boy and flung an arm around his shoulders. The latter was surprised but he didn’t move away. “How’s your weekend?” Alden asked with so much enthusiasm in his face. The other students just looked and looked away but didn’t say anything except for Riley who was walking behind the two with his other friends.
Zian thought of an answer but chose to say, “It was okay.” He was still as timid as when he first arrived.
“You’re not asking about mine?” Alden asked.
Zian wore an awkward smile as he turned to look at the boy next to him. They walked past the administration building called the Gabaldon and into the rear part of the school. “How was your weekend?”
