Chapter 6

"Again." I sighed and froze the poor fae again. There was nothing else I could do . This was Damien's 'gift' to me. Training to kill his enemies. He is a weird guy. He makes me do school work because education is important, then has me out here killing people with ice. This is not ok. They wouldn't all die. The more he has me do this, the better I get at leaving small holes so they recover. eventually. One day he will say something but for now at least I don't totally feel like a killer. I smile at him. "See how fast that bastard went down?" He smiles approvingly. "You are getting better. Take a break. Let your energy build up then you can have free time for the rest of the evening. You may go out in the yard but the guards will watch you. They will not hesitate to kill you if you try to leave." I nodded my understanding as he turned and walked away. This meant he was leaving. I headed towards my room, getting excited. I had felt an itching through what I would guess was the pack link all day but when I thought at them to stop until I was alone it was like they understood and it stopped. That had to mean they were close.
I opened the door to my room and was a bit surprised to Ma'lynn in there. She is one of Damien's few trusted female warriors. I came in and closed the door, keeping my eyes on her. "I mean you no harm girl.I just wanted to...talk." She shrugged the last part. "How did you do it?" She stared at me as if looking for a trace of a lie. "Do what?" She sighed in irritation. "My father should be dead. I am not stupid. You are no ordinary with. Yet, he is not dead, even though he looks it." I looked down at the floor. She had every right to be angry, but its not like I wanted to hurt her dad. "How do you control it like that?" I shrugged again. "I'm not sure. It's like I imagine it how I want it. I love training but I don't want to .." I trailed off afraid she may say something to Damien. Almost as if she read my mind she spoke. " I have no intention of telling him He thinks he is dead and I will allow him to continue to think that. My father can be free." She looked hopeful for a moment. "It's the best any of us could hope for." She sighed and turned to me. "Don't tell him about your wolf. It's your best chance of getting free." I guess my face showed my shock. "Calm down, its my specialty. I know creatures, all of them, including hybrids. You've never shifted but your wolf is there. Listen to it. It's your best hope of getting free." She stood. " Thanks again. Be careful. He is giving you small freedoms but someone is watching to see what you do with them. If you want to impress him and get him to back off for a bit freeze Markith, the fae who is always by the gate. He is much older than he looks and Damien won't care if he dies and if he gets a little freedom before his time comes he will be grateful. He can also probably get a note to your family." She handed me a pen and paper. I scribbled something on it. I handed it back to her. " You do your bit, we will do ours. take care." With that she left me alone.
I laid across my bed and though back on the weird feeling I had earlier. I wasn't sure it would work but I tried reaching out. 'I can talk now.' Nothing happened. I shrugged it off and laid my head back down and was almost asleep when I faintly heard it. 'hey. Kid. Your dad wanted me to try to reach you. Elderin is worried.' I sat up 'Dad?' 'Yeah.' The voice answered. 'Yes,he is right here with me. He says he is proud of you. My name is Alora by the way and I have a plan to rescue you. Here is what we will do.' Alora proceeded to lay out what had to be the riskiest plan I had ever heard in my life. I am all in.
