Chapter 19
Lila
I don't know why but I do not think it was Pike that helped me. I was a bit scared but so far Pike had been nothing but apologetic and kind. It could be nothing. I would ask him when he woke up. I picked the phone backup and dialed the only number I had memorized. After a few short rings my dad answered. "Hello?" The sadness crept into his voice and mad me sad. "Dad?" I said softly. "Lila!!" By the goddess! Are you ok? Where are you? Are you hurt? I will kill him" I heard the growl of his wolf trying to come forward. So much for being sad. Now he is livid. "No I am ok. Some weird stuff is going on but the end result is Pike saved me from Damien and said he will bring me to you as soon as he wakes up. He had to sleep a little to get enough energy to open another portal. I'm not hurt at all. For a kidnapper, Damien took really good care of me I guess. " He sighed. "It's so good to hear your voice. I have to tell everyone. How is Pike even alive?" I explained the situation to him and when I was done he let out a low whistle. "That is insane. Do you believe him?" I thought it over. "I do. He has actually had plenty of opportunities to hurt me and he hasn't. He has apologized and he has been really helpful so far. I just want him to get me back to you. " I felt a surge of emotion and started crying. Dad waited until I calmed down. "Are you ok?" I sniffled. "Yes I just feel. I don't know. Maybe overwhelmed." He chuckled. "You were kidnapped. Held hostage. Now you've seen your brother you thought was dead and you have hopped in another portal. You have reason to feel overwhelmed kiddo. I'm going to attach a tether to you when you get back It's not coming off until we meet your mate and he earns our approval." I collapsed in giggles. My poor mate.
We chit chatted a bit more, passing the time until Pike woke up. Eventually he stirred and I turned to him. "He's waking up." My dad hummed a bit. "Does he look energized?" he asked. "He looks tired. He hasn't slept that long." Pike sighed. "I'm used to being here alone so hearing you talk kept me up. Ask your dad if it would be safe for me to sleep when I portal us to him." I nodded at Pike. "Did you hear that dad?" " I did. of course he will be safe to sleep. We wouldn't harm him now knowing the truth and he would be bringing you. He is perfectly safe with us. As safe as you are." I turned to Pike. "You are as safe as I am with you. It will be fine. " He cracked a slight smile. "Ok. If thats the case then we can go when you are ready just know I will be wiped and need a lot of sleep when we get there. " I relayed the info to my father and took notes that he said Pike would need for the perfect portal placement. I hung up with them and ran to my brother and hugged him. "Thank you." He rolled his eyes. " Yeah yeah. Are you ready?" I nodded happily. He glanced over the notes I took and closed his eyes. Watching him work was amazing. The intricate movements of his hands were building the portal from nothing. I could see it as it stitched itself together. I love magick. Pike looked exhausted y the time he was done. He bent over as if to catch his breath then stood back up. After looking around his cabin and making sure his barrier was in place he smiled at me. "Let's get you reunited with your family." He held his hand out and I took it. "You're my family too Pike." I watched as the corners of his mouth turned up in small smile. "Glad to hear it. Ready?" I nodded and held tightly as we stepped in. This was it. Time to go home. We moved like molasses towards the exit of the portal. It felt like I was dragging Pike along but it was just probably the winds making me feel that way. We finally reached the other side and I couldn't have been more excited. I practically dragged Pike through the portal and squealed when we got out. My dads were there. I ran right into their waiting arms and i tell you nothing has ever felt better. They were hugging me tightly and looking me over. They really loved me! There was a split second where I forgot about Pike but that was short lived when I heard aunt Corina. I turned to see Pike laid on the ground with aunt Corina rolling him on to his back, her face a mix of shock and wonder. "He's not breathing."
