Elder Rachel's Point of View
Once everyone was ready we walked into the woods with torches and flashlights in hand. The woods were pitch black and the thing that got me the most was the wildlife was gone. Not a single owl hooted, deer ran by, or a bat flying in the sky. The land was silent and that concerned me.
We walked for several hours before reaching a stream. "We should take a break," I said as I took a sip of my water bottle.
"Sounds good. Listen up everyone," Helen shouted. "Fill your water bottles and take a break. Thirty minutes and that's all."
As everyone sat down and filled their water bottles I looked up at the sky. Not once had I seen a star or moon and that concerned me.
"When do you think the sun will come up?" A young man asked as he approached me.
"I don't think it will," I said as I looked back up at the sky.
"Oh."
"We will get the sun back," I said.
Once the young man walked away Helen said, "The sun must not have been gone for long because the planet is still full of life."
"True."
After a thirty-minute rest, we began walking again.
"How long do you think it will take for us to get there?" Helen asked.
"Two days tops. I say in about three hours we make camp."
"Okay."
We walk for a long time before we came to a clearing. As we were walking through the clearing I looked up at the sky and saw something flying overhead.
"We need to get out of this clearing," I said.
Helen looked up and said, "Friend or foe?"
"No clue but we shouldn't stick around just in case."
"Everyone hurry up," Helen whispered yelled.
People began picking up the pace and as the group began to enter the forest again the flying creature got closer to us people started to scream.
As the creature got closer to the ground I began to laugh. It was one of the dragons. I knew it wasn't Zack since he was with Lenny and knowing her she wouldn't allow him out. I stopped walking as everyone ran towards the trees and when it shifted and landed on the ground I just stood there.
"Luke," I said as he walked towards me.
"Elder Rachel. Long time no see," He said as he approached me and then hugged me.
"Where have you been?" He asked.
"Somewhere finding help and this is them."
He looked around and almost everyone was in the forest. "Some help."
"Well, we weren't sure if you were foe or friend."
"Friend for sure but what are you doing out here at night?"
"It's night?"
"Yup. The sky gets darker and during the day it is not as dark. It is not safe during the night."
"Why?" Helen asked as she approached us.
"Because Lenny's creatures roam the woods. They are stronger during the night."
"That is fine. As long as we stay off their radar until we make our attack then we will be fine," Helen said.
"You plan to attack her. Are you crazy?" Luke said.
"She needs to be stopped, Zack."
"You won't make it. The last group never made it back."
"I know but they are waiting for us. If anyone wants to join us then they should hurry up and meet us there. We will be there in a day or two as long as we stay under her radar."
"And what is your plan because everyone that wanted to fight will no longer try."
I looked at Helen and said, "Well?"
"We need to storm her castle. Once in there we need to find her and between Cora, Rachel, and myself we can kill her."
"So that is your big plan?" I said.
"That and a few tricks."
I rolled my eyes and looked at Luke. "You in or out?"
"In but you need to leave these woods before your discovered."
"Then where should we go?" I asked Luke.
"A bunch of us are hiding out in the succubus village. Lenny burnt it down ages ago and has yet to return."
"That is not far from here. Why are you flying around?"
"To see if I can spot her people. I can send a warning before they reach the survivors."
"Sounds like you guys got things in order," Helen said.
"These are tough times. We should hurry up before her creatures find us."
"Okay, lead the way," I said.
Helen made an announcement to the group and we began to walk. It would take us about an hour to get to the village.
"How are the twins?" I asked Luke.
"Good. Growing like weeds."
"I can't wait to see them. How many have died?"
"We are not sure but we have yet to find a dead body."
I stopped walking and looked at him. "Not a single dead body?"
"Not a single one. Every time her creatures attacked a village they would burn it down and take hostages. The only dead have been hers but the more we kill the more show up. Stronger and faster than the last one."
"This is all my fault," I whispered. If it wasn't for me this wouldn't have happened. I should have let them be together.
"It is not your fault," Luke said.
"I kept them apart."
"Yes you did and it killed them but if it was meant to be then it would have happened. He found love in someone else."
"He has a daughter."
"Seriously?" Luke said with a smile.
"Ya. She is a year old and looks just like him. Her name is Hope."
"Once he knows he will fight whatever hold Lenny has on him. He use to talk about how he couldn't wait to become a dad."
"He will be a good dad once this is all over."
"Speaking of his family where is Cora?"
"In Haven somewhere."
