Cora's Point of View
I looked at Zack hoping he would say something but he never did and all Lenny did was laugh. I looked at her and before I could say anything I felt someone grab me and begin to pull me away.
"ZACK!" I screamed as I tried to fight out of the arms of the person dragging me but he was frozen. This was it. I knew it. My beautiful little girl would never know me or her father. This was the biggest mistake of my life.
I watched as Lenny stood up with a menacing smile on her face and she turned to look at Zack. "Come and watch as we take down our first enemy love."
Zack smiled, stood up, and grabbed her hand. I stopped fighting and let the tears in my eyes fall as they followed me. I was dragged from the room, through the halls, and into a courtyard.
How could Zack do this? I thought he loved me but he doesn't.
I felt myself being lifted upstairs and onto a platform and then chained. I couldn't even bring myself to look around. My heart was crushed.
"I told you he would be mine," I heard Lenny say as she walked past me but I did not respond. I thought of my beautiful daughter and how she would grow up without her mother or father. Yes she would have Peter and he would protect her but she wouldn't have us and he could only teach her so much. Hope was part dragon, succubus, and goddess.
"Today is a great day," I heard Lenny shout. "We have caught one of those who is the leader of the rebellion. She is their leader along with my mother and today we have her."
I heard cheering and slightly lifted my head. There was a crowd of people standing in front of the platform. I looked back down.
"Bring the others for tonight there leader dies and so do they. Tonight we celebrate," She yelled.
I heard footsteps coming towards me and looked up. Lenny stood there with a smile on her face and I said, "You won. I will leave this place and never return. Please let me return to my child."
Lenny laughed and said, "No but nice try."
"Let her go, Lenny," I heard Zack say as he walked up.
"Never. She has been a thorn in my side forever. Tonight we will be free of her and all those who follow her."
"As you wish," Zack said as he looked at me with a look in his eyes.
"Come now, dear. We must get ready."
I watched as they walked away from me but suddenly Zack turned his head and mouthed I LOVE YOU, then turned his head.
"Did I just see that?" I asked out loud.
As I looked around the crowd was gone except four men who stood nearby.
I was not sure about the time because the sky was dark but soon cages filled with people began being placed near me. I could hear screaming but I had a hard time focusing. I couldn't stop thinking about Hope.
I would never see her grow up. Be there for her first day of school, driving lesson and so much more. Just thinking about my little girl brought tears to my eyes.
The cages full of people stopped arriving and soon people began to stand near the platform. Many pointed towards those in cages, while others laughed. I couldn't believe this was happening.
Soon several men started bringing wood and placing it around the caged causing those in the cages to start screaming and trying to break out with no luck. Once they realized there was no way out several of them fell onto the ground and some started to cry, while others begged for their life but no one listened.
Soon Lenny and Zack came into view and walked onto the platform. Lenny had the biggest smile on her face, while Zack looked lost in thought.
"Today the moon goddess has blessed us with the leader of those who have been fighting against us. We are one step closer to bringing peace back in Haven." The cheering began again while some of those in cages began to yell.
"I know you all are as excited as King Zack and I are but before we can truly celebrate we need to rid this planet of those who opposed us. Begin to light the cages."
Those in the cages were fighting to get out, some held onto those nearby while others just sat on the ground. I watched as men approached the cage with torches in their hands and before they could light the wood on fire I screamed, "NO."
Lenny held up her hand, turned around, and said, "And do tell me Cora what do you have to say?"
"Let them all go. They will not fight against you any longer. I promise."
This caused Lenny to laugh and she looked ahead and nodded. The men holding the torches placed them on the wood causing them to light in the fire.
"NO!" I screamed but Lenny just laughed as those in the cages tried to back away from the growing fire.
Peter's Point of View
"Hey beautiful girl," I said as I walked into Hope's room. She was ready to start her day and really let me know by screaming her head off.
I picked her up and walked her over to the changing table and changed her butt. I got her dressed for the day and walked downstairs to feed her some oatmeal.
I know she missed her mom but I had no idea when she would see her again. As we finished breakfast a giant portal appeared in the kitchen followed by a voice.
"Time to go. Take Hope and walk through the portal. Place her in the basket and walk towards the light."
It was the same voice as the woman who was here the day Cora left and when I looked at hope her eyes were completely black and she was pointing at the portal. I picked her up and walked into the portal.
