I glared at Alpha Alec who stood in front of me with a smug expression on his face. He waited a few minutes for the whispers in the room to fade before he continued.
“Not all of you are aware, but my previous Beta was viciously murdered in his sleep a few years ago. His fated mate, Max, was the one to commit this heinous crime and she fled my territory before we could apprehend her.” He explained calmly while keeping his eyes locked with mine. I knew he wanted a reaction out of me, but he wasn’t going to get one.
“We’ve been trying to track her down for years with no luck, it seems as though she’s good at hiding.” He added.
“If it’s been years, why bring it up now?” Alpha Victor snarled from his seat. He wasn’t one to hide his distaste for certain people.
