Steve gave a glare, and his lips turned upwards into a frown. Amanda was hoping for him to yell at her, but his expression changed.
He placed his hands at the sides and smirked, pushing out his chest.
“I have no obligation to tell you everything, Do I?”.
Amanda’s world crumbled down hearing that.
She gasped for a split second, as her face became pale.
“You….don’t have any obligation to tell me anything? Even though I am your wife?”.
“I don’t. Cause you don’t have any rights to rule my life. You can’t interfere in my life, no matter what. Even if I have an affair, you can’t say anything about it.”
“What?”.
“Yes, learn to accept the truth as soon as possible. Cause that’s for your good.”
“Grandpa had mistresses. Only my dad didn’t dare to have any, which is why he’s a disappointment. But I have the blood of my grandpa running within me. Therefore, I can have as many wives as I want. And you have no rights to say anything, no butting in, understand?”.
His words rang in her ears. This man who’s standing in front of her is different. He’s not the Steve that she hoped to see.
"Though Max doesn't share the same views as mine, I could not care less about that. I, Steve, am different. Only one woman can't satisfy me," he pointed toward Amelia with a severe face.
"Do you understand?".
"Which is why I kept my affairs secret from you. But now that you have found out about it, we can't help it. You just have to adjust yourself to it. I hope you don't have any problems with it, I assume."
Hearing his statement, anger was seething within her. She was conserving all the bad things which were happening within her. But now..... all the anger erupted just like a volcano, flooding in with hot magma and lava, leaving her mind all blank.
"No problem, the heck!" she yelled, grabbing him by the collar, violently.
"I will not accept this. What do you think of me? Am I a doll who's going to act the way you want me to?" her voice reverberated throughout the entire room.
Steve's face went pale seeing her actions. His lips parted and eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Her eyes were full of anger and frustration and shone with a fiery passion.
"I will not accept you cheating on me with another woman. Is that clear to you?".
Steve removed his eyes, and stared into the distance, his lips tightly shut, one of his eyebrows pulled upwards. He faced sideways.
Amanda's eyes bulged as tears were about to spill out from the corner of her eyes. Her lips curled inwards, with a tensed jaw as her nostrils flared outwards.
Even though the temperature in the room was cold, it is not cold enough to cool down her head.
“Get your hands off me Amanda!” he spoke with a gruff voice.
“No I won’t!” she yelled back, still holding onto his collar.
“There’s no way, I am going to let your affairs continue. Do you understand that?”.
“Get your hands off me! How long do I have to tell you that?” he scoffed removing her hands from his clothes right away.
Amanda became stupefied and clenched her fists tightly.
He fixed his coat and faced her with straightforward eyes.
“The marriage is done, and you can’t get out of it. Your step-mom, dad, and sister, are both now relying on me to help in their business, meaning their livelihood depends on me. Your mom knew everything about me when the marriage was settled. If she said nothing then I can’t do anything about it.”
“You would’ve found everything about it eventually so even if you found it now, nothing matters. You have to adjust to this personality of mine. Aren’t you a woman? This must be an easy deal for you right?”.
“Easy deal?”. She stepped forward and gave a glare.
“I have to adjust to my husband, keeping affairs with other women, even when he has me, and I have to adjust to this? Is this what you call adjust? I married you to hear about this?”.
“Stop your yapping, I am tired of it. You already spoiled my moon for the day. Now shut up! I don’t want to talk about anything at all, now get out of my way and let me go downstairs, I have an office.”
He was about to walk past her, and she held onto his hand from behind.
He glanced back with his lips curled upwards into a frown.
“You don’t want to change yourself?”.
“No, and I have no intention to,” he snatched away his hand and walked out of the door, closing it with a bang.
She fell onto her knees on the carpet, staring downwards feeling devastated.
“I never thought, he would turn out to be such a devil.”
His words rang in her ears, “Your mom knew everything about me when the marriage was settled.”
“Mom knew everything about him. Then why did she still marry me off to that unknown man with such a nasty personality?”.
When she had gone downstairs, she saw that the living room was empty so was the dining table.
“I’d better get going and come back earlier,” she reminded walking towards the exit.
She slipped onto her heels and wore a raven blue skirt and white blouse with her purse and phone.
When she was about to walk out of that big door, someone called her from behind.
“Stop!”.
Amanda glanced behind to see Steve’s Mom, Claudia standing there, with her arms crossed in front of her chest with a frown.
Claudia, is in her late forties, with brunette curly hair, along with grey strakes at the front. She keeps it short and maintains her dressing sense, to dress like the wife of a rich man. She wears diamonds on a necklace even indoors along with earrings.
This is their second meeting as Amanda met her only once the marriage was fixed. She doesn’t have a good impression of this woman, so she keeps her distance from her, but interactions are not avoidable when they are living in the same house.
“W-what is it?” Amanda spoke in a clear voice.
“When did you come back home? Sonny wasn’t with you when he came. Where were you? And you didn’t tell me that you were going out. How much irresponsible can you be?”.
“I….was out to see my friend who was hospitalized last night and I stayed over for the operation-“ she stuttered while talking because of the glare that her mother-in-law gave.
"Which is why, I couldn't go to the hotel last night, and came here straight from there."
"What?" she yelled so loudly that everyone in the house could hear her.
"Have I dug my own grave by telling her the lie?" Amanda gulped startled by her mother-in-law's behavior.
