Chapter 11 - PARTY IN THE MOONLIGHT

1204 Words
Annette stood in front of the Lavender Palms Hotel with an invite in her hand. Her black sleeveless gown was well fitted and brought out all her curves, her blonde hair was curled up a little bit above her neck… she had on a silver earrings and necklace that glimmered in the moonlight. She stood staring at the hotel for a while with a cigarette between her lips. Throwing the cigarette to the ground she stepped on it quenching the little flame underneath her black ankle boot and made her way into the hotel. The party had already started and guest were arriving. Annette walked into the hotel and scanned the hall in search for Louisa. “Some fancy party indeed” she smirked grabbing a wine glass from one of the waiter who passed by her. Louisa stood next to the dais dressed in a long silver gown, it had a slit which went all the way to her thigh and obviously she didn’t look really happy, Annette sighted her and grinned widely. She breezed over to her placing her hand gently on her shoulder “If you keep frowning you’ll get wrinkles” she whispered from behind Louisa and she turned over startled. “Oh my, you sure are full of surprises” she grinned definitely relieved to see Annette “Of course you won’t expect me when you tried to make me your prisoner” Annette clinked her glass against Louisa’s who smiled awkwardly. “Well let’s not see it that way” she muttered taking a huge gulp from her glass. “You are right being a prisoner means I committed a crime, it was more like kidnapping” Annette smirked, she loved how uncomfortable she was making Louisa feel. “Annie, I was just looking after you like an aunt should… you saw first hand how powerful Vendrick is, you might have terrifying skills as a human but all that is nothing compared to the powers hidden in the rogue community” Annette couldn’t dispute this fact but that didn’t mean she was going to let the event of earlier slide. “I took my opponent for granted that’s all. If I knew about his technique I wouldn’t have fallen prey” she was well aware that this was a lie but instilling fear in those she worked with was what she did best. “Oh? Is that so?” a strange aura emerged from behind her, a familiar one but she tried not to lose comportment. Turning over to the familiar face with a grin on her face she stretched out her hand “We didn’t get to properly introduce ourselves last time… I must say your presence carry’s a distinctive feel which I find rather charming” Vendrick was overwhelmed by those words and he took Annette’s hands delighted. “You look really lovely this evening” he stated and gently placed a kiss on her hand. Annette pulled her hand away from Vendrick and turned back to Louisa “I see you plan on getting me this time” she stated slightly stirring her glass. “Believe it or not you’re important to me and I want to keep you safe” Louisa smiled giving Vendrick a sign to leave. “I like that cause you are also important to me, we are business partners and I think it’s only right that we have an agreement before you take actions” Annette leaned closer to Louisa in an attempt to drive in her point. “Understood” “Great so what’s the plan?” Annette leaned away from her and took in a sip of her wine while taking a quick glance of the hall. A solemn music was playing at the background and people were all meeting up with friends and business partners, it was just like the usual fancy parties. “I’m going to introduce you to Lava Ed, he’s the present head of the humanoid clan. If the information about you get to him it would spread around the clan like a wild fire. More reason why I need you in safety” “I get the fact that I’m bait but that’s is not the kind of attention I’m looking for… we are trying to attract my parents killer not a entire humanoid clan” Annette frowned, she didn’t understand how Louisa’s absurd plan would help her out in anyway. Louisa definitely had an ulterior motive and the fact that she knew nothing about the rogue community made her easy to control. She really needed to find her parents killer and to do that she had to go along with Louisa’s mysterious plan. “Annette, there’s something I’ve come to believe in… where there’s chaos the truth is bound to come to light” Louisa smiled leading the way to a door that stood beside the dais, she handed a card to a body guard who stood by the door and he let her through. Annette followed behind putting herself on high alert, she couldn’t trust Louisa no matter how much she tried. They made their way through an empty hall that led down some fleet of stairs. Another door was positioned at the end of the stairs, Louisa knocked slightly on the door and it came open… a female stood by the door with fox like ears protruding from her head, she tilted her head to with her gaze focused on Annette and she bared her teeth going into defense. “Easy girl, she’s with me” that statement didn’t seem to calm the fox lady who backed away from the door slowly but consciously. The room was a large hall just like the one upstairs just a bit larger and was filled with lot of guest who seemed to have a higher position than the ones Annette had seen earlier. The fox lady rushed over to a man who looked liked he was in his mid sixties and crouched beside him. The man stared up at his two new company, he had a scar that cut across his left eye, giving it a faint grey color. His hair and beards were dark but a bit grey could be seen around it, he pulled out the cigar he had in his mouth and grinned widely. “Louisa Lane, a surprise indeed… and you brought a friend” he stared at Annette and then at the fox lady “Zuxy sense a strong aura in your friend, don’t tell me you finally have a trump card” “You mean my niece, Miss Vladimir… oh no no” Louisa grinned and Annette could tell she did that on purpose. “Did you just say Vladimir” the man’s eyes widened in shock and his gaze fell on Annette, it looked like he’d seen a ghost. Annette stared at Louisa who had a smug look on her face… “I knew she was up to something” she c****d her hip and took a sip from her glass quite fascinated by her aunt. She was definitely wrong about her first assumption of her, her aunt wasn’t really after revenge… Louisa only wanted her.
