“Annie, this is Lava Ed” “Well I suspected” Annette stretched her hand towards the man that stood in front of her and he stared at the hand for a while a bit flustered before taking hold of it. “How long has it been, ten years?” he grinned letting go of Annette’s hand and turning over to Louisa “I heard that women were desperate beings but I expected more from you” he placed his cigar between his lips and stared at Zuxy for a while “You might have a Vladimir but I’m pretty sure she’s just a powerless human unable to wield the power of the Omni-wolf” he puffed circles in the air his gaze still focused on Louisa who chuckled lightly, she walked up to him so their faces were only inches apart “What do you mean? I only introduced my niece to you… she would be with me often from now on. I just wanted you two to be acquainted” she grinned while Lava Ed cleared his throat feeling rather odd “Oh is that so? I must have been over thinking it. After all I’m old now” he placed his hand gently on Zuxy's head and glanced briefly at Annette “Well enjoy the party” he added before moving towards some of his other guests. “What are you really after?” Annette moved over to Louisa who grinned delightedly “Lets just say I’m trying to use one stone to kill two birds” “And I’m the stone huh?” “Exactly sweetie” Annette stared at her now empty glass and back at her aunt who seemed to be in a really good mood. “So about my offer” Louisa looked more serious now and she stared intently “You are definitely not giving me a choice huh?” Annette placed her empty glass on the tray of a waiter that passed by her and crossed her hands observing the hall “It’s for your safety” “Not really convincing seeing that you’re the one who put me in danger” Annette grinned “Ha! Good one… so what’s it going to be?” “Why ask when you’ve already answered the question for me” “Great! Then it’s settled” Annette rolled her eyes, she wasn’t okay with this arrangement but she planned to go along with it anyway. It’d probably be better for her and for Byron. Byron was always at her place and she really didn’t want him to get caught up in any of this just like earlier. “This party is filled with great head under the humanoid clan and mages community” Louisa muttered staring around the hall “If you are in my shoes you could classify them as both friends and foes. They could be any which makes it hard to rely on anyone in the rogue community” “In short we are in a room filled with backstabbers” Annette grinned “Which one are you?” she turned over to Louisa “I guess time will tell” Annette stared dumbfounded at this reply. Where the hell did that come from. “We should be on our way” Louisa grinned noticing the various eyes that were on Annette. “I guess Ed spilled the beans” she moved ahead of Annette walking elegantly towards the exit. Annette glanced briefly at the eyes that were on her. ‘Is this really what I want?' she thought feeling a bit conflicted, she felt her aunts plan only complicated things. “You’re really going?” Byron asked, he sat on a brown sofa in his living room and watched Annette who was pacing around the room. “I think it’s better that way, I’ll be closer than ever to the rogue community and my aunt… it’s just difficult for me to trust her” “Okay I get that but must it be today?” he stood up from where he sat and moved over to Annette, he placed his hands on her shoulder stopping her pacing and she sighed “Yes, Louisa introduced me to the head of the humanoid clan making me a target to God knows how many people. I don’t know but for some reason a lot of people aren’t really fund of the Vladimirs” “Wasn’t that reckless on her side?” he frowned. He was genuinely worried about Annette “I really don’t know what goes on in her head and it pains me cause I can’t read her clearly. One thing is sure anything I thought I knew is completely wrong. On the bright side being close to her would help me read her better until then I would have to follow her blindly” Annette hissed feeling really frustrated “That’s not really your style” “True” she exhaled heavily, her aunt was really a mysterious book filled with so many unclear chapters. “It’s funny though… you got hurt earlier for nothing” Byron chuckled… Annette stood in front of the Vonye hotel with a black sport bag in her hand, she curled her lips as she took the hotel into view… Byron had mocked her for escaping Louisa and still ending up in her clutches which made her feel really stupid. Turning over to the SUV that was parked behind her she glared at the driver. “Do be careful” Byron smiled warmly ignoring the glare and she hissed. “Ah! You should have informed me that you were coming then I would have brought you myself” Vendrick stepped out of the hotel with two men behind him. One of the men offered to carry her bag but she refused, breezing pass them she made her way into the hotel. Byron stared at her for a while “I hope you know what you are doing Anne” he muttered to himself and drove off. Annette on the other hand was really annoyed, she felt like a puppet being played around with by her aunt. She had always been the one playing around with people but now she felt like it was the other way around. “I really hate this feeling” she grinned trying to fight back her anger. Honestly her aunt got her really intrigued, she’d never felt this way before. Yes it was annoying but part of her loved every part of this.
