Annette sat on the bed with her knees against her chest, she was awfully quiet right now, Byron just stood opposite her watching her, he really didn’t feel leaving her with Louisa was a good idea. Sure she was bent on finding her parents killers yes but what if she loosed control like earlier. It’d been ages since that ever happened but somehow Louisa was able to call it out again.
“Annie I think you should stop here, I just have a really bad feeling about all this” he blurted out avoiding eye contact with Annette. Annette lifted up her head slowly and stared at Byron in disbelief.
“You are kidding right?” she was definitely not okay with Byron suggestion and quite frankly she didn’t ever expect him to suggest something like that. “Do you know how long I have tried to get into the rogue community, I am close now and I am not going to give up”
“But she’s using you”
“Then I’ll use her too” she snapped standing up from the bed.
“Annie I’m sorry but I am just looking out for you… it… it’s been a while since that happened” Byron stuttered with his head bowed. Annette turned over to him and walked slowly towards him.
“I scared you”
“No, I can never be scared of you” he placed his hand on her cheek staring into her eyes “I know that’s not you… This part of you always made you depressed in the past… Remember?”
“I am sorry, I lost control for a while but I’m fine”
“I guess I can’t talk you out of it huh?” Byron smirked “Well since I can’t talk you out of this, you can’t talk me out of helping”
“Don’t be like that” she moved away from Byron
“We all have choices in life and this is my choice” he was well aware that this part he was about to take wasn’t going to be the same as anything he’d seen all through his life as a detective but he was still willing to go. He would sacrifice anything for her, it didn’t matter if she noticed it or not.
“This is not a choice Byron” she turned over to him with a worried look in her eyes.
“It’s my choice to make” he smirked leaving the room. Annette was embraced by the silence and fell to the bed.
“Why doesn’t he ever listen” she muttered to herself staring calmly at the closed door.
“Good morning” Leon bounced into the bar with a wide grin on his face. Jericho rolled his eyes on sighting him and let out a deep sigh.
“Good, the b***h didn’t come this time” Annette sat on a bar stool with her leg crossed, the joy in her eyes suddenly vanished as the unexpected guest walked in.
“Who are you calling a b***h” Livia snapped but paused on receiving a glare from Leon.
“Aww you’re better now, next time I’ll make sure it takes a month before you recover” Annette grinned, Livia clenched her fist but there was nothing she could do and this annoyed her.
“Please don’t piss her off or something bad might happen to her” Leon said jumping over the counter.
“That makes me eager to continue”
“Come on do it for me, she’s my partner after all” Leon pleaded grabbing hold of Annette’s hand
“Okay for you” she smiled tapping him lightly on his head “You should be grateful that Leon pleaded on your account” she glared at Livia and she hissed taking a sit on one of the bar stools far away from Annette.
“Now to this handsome young man” Leon grinned throwing himself on Jericho.
“Please keep your distance” Jericho stated in his usual low voice
“Oh Coco don’t tell me you didn’t miss me”
“I didn’t” Leon stood staring at Jericho like a broken frame and Annette snickered at his reaction.
“Harsh! Then I missed you for nothing” he sighed
“Just get to why you are here” Jericho stated walking to the back door behind the counter.
“Does he have to be so grumpy” Leon frowned and turned over to Annette who stared at him delightedly.
“Nothing is going on…” he stuttered feeling embarrassed
“I wasn’t going to ask about that” Annette leaned towards the counter “Why rat yourself out” she smirked making Leon feel even more embarrassed.
“So why are you here?”
“To teach a novice her job” Livia stated crossing her leg over the counter.
“I just cleaned that” Jericho noted walking out of the backdoor with a crate in his hand.
“Whatever” Livia frowned putting her leg down from the counter.
“So let’s get started” Annette stood up from the bar stool not really ready for the secretary job but she just couldn’t wait any longer… Livia being her teacher was really pissing her off and she wanted it to be over as quick as possible.
“Like your spirit but we both decided to teach you with a little practical test run” Leon said hopping unto the counter.
“Sounds cool”
“It is” Leon grinned “Secretaries really do a lot of work besides all the paper works , we are also the middle men between district heads, the agency and the clients and sometimes we play the role of spies… Now we are just going to gather some information on some underground smuggling going on down town”
Annette smirked and leaned towards Leon “I don’t get it, when did you guys become cops, I thought smuggling was kinda your thing”
“Yeah I know we are not the good guys but we still have rules we must follow” Leon noted “The rogue community also have a few rogue out and we got to put them in check”
“Guess you have a point”
“Let’s head out already” Livia stood up from the bar stool and made her way to the bar exit.
“Okay I guess we should be going” Leon stated watching Livia leave the bar.
“Later Jericho” she waved at him. Leon turned to him and waved as well but he was completely ignored.
“Stupid brat” Jericho muttered.
